I am contemplating using my Car for Bolt/ Uber, a Honda Civic 09.
I live on the mainland and work on the island, so I always drive to and from work alone on weekdays.

I would like to start Bolt/ Uber as a side hustle, that is, just 2 trips per weekday (no weekend trips), one in the morning when going to work and one in the evening when coming back from work. I will look for riders going close to my location to avoid stress.

Please I would like to know if the money raised from at least 6 weekday trips per week is sufficient to fuel my car and take care of other minor repairs.
Also, will BOLT/UBER permit me to do this, as I'm not into it full time and I will be having a low volume of trips on a weekly basis.

Your contributions will be very welcome, thanks

This was actually what brought about the idea of ride sharing. I will advise you register with bolt only as it fits your objectives.....bolt gives two destination trip, so you will use one in the morning and the other when returning.

Since it's mainland -island trip it should cover your fuel expenses.. even when you set destination you can still filter trip to ensure you get one closer to your final destination (home).

Bolt have no issues with how many trips you take per day.

Thank you Sir, but please how do you mean by bolt gives two destination trip, so you will use one in the morning and the other when returning..

Because my plan is to find a rider close to my house that is going to VI in the morning, so I drop the person off then go to my office.
At evening, I will find a rider in VI that is going to the mainland, or anywhere along my route home, then drop the person off and go home.

This is the plan, just 2 trips per day.

The major reason for my decission is to make little income that can sustain the upkeep of my car, asides the income i get from my 9-5 job.
A car is a depreciating asset, as it losses value daily due to wear and tear, so I need to turn it into an asset, and generate income that can be used to maintain it and keep it in perfect condition.

Thank you all for your quick counsel.
Una don crack me up finish.
I brought this couples from airport MM2 to lekki phase 1, I went to pick them at arrival with umbrella and the husband was shocked that I wasn’t wet, so I showed them the escalator and bypass to car park without going into the rain.
He offered to give me 500 naira for parking, I declined that it’s part of the bill.
MM2 to lekki phase 1. On 1.9surge , they paid and still tipped me untop.
They came from abroad to tour&vacation.
So they want to go visit badagry and asking how much I will take for to n fro.

With this multitude of counsel I will stylishly about mission, I like my low mileage Camry before I earn 30k and spend 25k on repairs plus fake parts everywhere.

Above all I’m a lazyD I can’t kee myself.

Noooo!!!!

Explain to them why they don't want to go badagry if they plan on returning same day... They may ask you to take them to other places that can still pay u about 50k but should they insist it's badagry then charge them a arm and leg. I was there 2month ago... I didn't have any issue with my car only thing was that trip took the entire day... Observe car tracks n follow who know road.

Destination trips as the name implies mean when activated...you will only get trips towards the set destination. For example, if you work in Victoria Island....you can set your destination to Victoria Island using the app ...meaning you will only get request of trips heading to Victoria Island or any where closer to Victoria Island, like ikoyi, obalende, Lagos Island as you prepare to drive out in the morning

Same applies when you close as well ...from the island set your app to a place in mainland.....for mainland ensure your are specific e.g ojodu Berger, Lagos mainland, bariga, etc.. so that you can get a trip towards the indicated areas....

Bolt allows you to set your destination twice in a day, you can use it anytime of the day, but since your plan is just two trips in a day that where I said morning and evening.

You will understand better when you undergo the online training.

Good evening everyone on this wonderful platform and I'm very glad to be here. Big thanks to everyone sharing their experiences on this thread and I pray that God Almighty will bless your hustle in multiple folds.
Let me introduce myself, I am a high school teacher in a private school at Surulere presently but with the rising cost of living (such as rent, feeding, transportation etc) my monthly take home (53k) is not enough to see me through each month without taking first advance loan from First Bank and this alone has prompted me to start looking for other alternatives to earn more money legitimately.
The reason why I'm coming out openly is that I need help/guidance on how to become a Bolt/Uber driver and how to get a vehicle (either on Hire purchase/Rental) cos I see people post on this thread that they are on weekly rentals and some say they are on hire purchase.
Truth is, I know nothing and I'm just a complete novice concerning this business but the posts I read on this thread anytime I login is so encouraging and motivating at the same time. This alone is making feel like I'm just wasting away where I am presently employed.
I need kindhearted nairalanders to please put me through on how a novice like me can venture into this e-hauling business.
(Please don't mind my long post and grammatical errors if any). Thanks

Thank you IFSHR, this really clarifies.

This destination trip will turn out to be a very viable tool for me.

Please I would like to know if it also considers the pick up location, for example if I set destination trip for V.I in the morning, i hope it will still profer pick up locations that are still close to my house?

Pick up locations are usually within 2KM from you. Except you increase it, which is not a good idea unless necessary.

1. Start reading the thread from 2019. 50 pages daily.

2. Save up to learn driving during weekends.
Master the driving lessons.

3. Get a driver's license.

4. Brace up, it's challenging, but it will definitely reward you more than teaching.

If you are not teaching physical sciences (math, physics and chemistry), most schools will only give you a salary to keep body n soul together. Basically you are just floating.
You should be able to wrap up in 3 months.

For me, you should have accepted the trip.

Yes the road is bad from Agbara, but there's nothing money cannot fix in this hustle.

Give them better billing and drive slowly.

Afterall, people live in Badagry, and drive corollas and Camry's too.

Also change like 1000 into 100 naira notes grin.

Pls I have been searching for a Honda Civic.... You don't know how precious that car is to me . I love that car so much it has almost same similarities with a Corolla. Many people make the mistake to under rate that beast. Pls give me on rental 25k/30k I don't mind, so far the car is in good shape. I stay in the mainland oyingbo very close to Honda village so trust me when I say I know the true value of that car you're using. We will discuss on rasing the car a little for more ground clearance. Thanks for accepting.... IJN. AMEN

If he really is your mechanic, you should have built some form of relationship.

Repairs sometimes require return jobs. It is not good, but it happens. Best you take it back to him, so he resolves it. It is suspension, and not a big deal and are sometimes a knot!
