Market association everywhere adjust their pieces at same or close range hence consumers are left stranded. Then again , the options we have are limited, or can you find alternative cement to use in building your house or alternative for agege bread which is the cheapest around or the alternative to cooking gas or petrol. The inflation hits at fundamental areas that have ripple effect on the others e.g. change in price of cooking gas, petrol, flour, sugar, cement, salt, tomatoes, these items will affect price of food, transport, rent etc. 1 Like |

It is because of the 2 stupid religions, Christianity and Islam. The gullible followers of these religions are taught that no matter the level of inflation their sky-daddy will keep them fed. Some of them even turn hunger to fasting and prayer. These two religions have turned Nigerians into zombies. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

SeaTrade:That’s because we Nigerians lack cooperation to speak in one voice and protest against any kind of extortion, so many of us are too proud to show they can afford it but dying in silent, Imagine the rise in cooking gas supposed to trigger serious protest if we live in a country were people corporate to voice out their grievances. 8 Likes 1 Share |

CountVersailles: You guys just like to heap blames on the average Nigerian. Lots of commuters refuse such hikes in lagos and would rather wait. You definitely don't expect everyone to stick with such refusal. In Lagos for example, the population far outweighs the supply of buses, so you already have an inelastic market and transporters are king. Commuters have little to no leverage because even if 80% decide to trek, the available buses isn't enough to ferry the left over 20%. Heck even such hike in fares happen all over the world especially when there are large events, only challenge is every single day is a large event in Lagos. So you are out of options. Also we should stop making it seem like Nigerians don't fight back. Let those same countries experience half of what Nigerians go through and see how they respond. Only scarcity of fuel happened in UK for few weeks. People were hoarding fuel and even fighting at stations. Some even started looting fuel from cars and others were buying at hiked prices. When the system is rigged against you, you either just flow with it. For example. Who do your report price gouging to? How effective are those agencies ? What processes are in place by gov't to protect consumers against such? 7 Likes |

The thing is not a brand thing. Check it, when inflation occur it's usually with certain products like pepper, groundnut and palm oil before the whole thing spiral round. These producers have union that control prices. When inflation occurs, it's affects all the products both high and low brand. Check when bread priced was increased. Even plantain and onions. All traders were seLling same price that you won't have any option. The government is not doing anything to make sure consortium of capitalist don't exploit the people 1 Like |

It's a Nigerian thing.. That 'i no get choice mentality' (and e terrible) every person selling a thing to you feels there are doing you a favour.. If u no buy 20 other pipo go buy am like dat.... Once I'd wanted to use POS to withdraw some money.. Elderly lady, told me she would charge 200 naira.. I accepted told her i will transfer the money to her.. She told me she would give me a number to call and tell the person am sending money... Then he will confirm when he sees it before she gives me the equivalent amount in cash.. Told her to call the person herself because its supposed to be a part of her business, she said i should call because she is doing me a favour..that if i can't call the person i should go.. Lol.. Sounded truly funny.. Maaami! Doing me which favour? And i will still pay ur 200 naira POS charges...? I told her she wasn't doing me any favour, that am paying for the service. The funny thing was, everybody there started murmuring that i don't have respect, am not greatful and plenty other murmurs... You can imagine the mentality alot of us hold!.. That's why even in leadership, we can never stand with one voice... 11 Likes |

SeaTrade:Boycott or protest is more expensive than the good and services in Nigeria. E.g boycott bus because of 50% increase in T-fare and you start to trek with empty stomach on bad road full of frustrated drivers. If you survive hit-and-run driver incident, who pays the expensive hospital bills? You can save yourself the regret by simply sacrificing the extra charge. https://www.facebook.com/428018987269090/posts/6257671770970420/?app=fbl Or instead of buying adulterated products that can endanger your life because you are looking for cheaper product, is it not better to stay alive to fight another? To even lodge complain of fake product to security personnel is more expensive. The highest bidder gets favorable judgement in Nigeria. Ordinary sit at home in the east, government is killing in response. 4 Likes |

SeaTrade: Wider audience will get you nothing. You see, Nigerians worship money and are spendicrafts by nature. They buy those expensive stuff for several reasons including... 1. To belong in a world of show offs 2. To put themselves on a higher level than their friends and neighbors 3. In a country where fake products is the order of the day we ignorants look to price to give us an idea of quality. This one reason why ridiculously expensive stuff like peak milk will always sell. 2 Likes |
