Zoning of the presidency between the north and south of Nigeria was necessitated by Nigeria's skewed and lopsided political structure whose creation was supervised solely by Northern military dictators. In 1999, zoning was reason why two Yoruba presidential candidates flew the flags of the two largest political parties then. Zoning dictates that it's the turn of the Igbo of the southeast to produce a successor for president Buhari; even a man roused from sleep will say this. No Southern presidential candidate can win Nigeria's presidential election if the north supports a presidential candidate from the North. A presidential candidate must win 25% of votes in 24 states before proclaimed winner of Nigeria's presidential election. 2 Likes |

BigSarah: We don’t have political ideologies in Nigeria bt we have religious and tribal concerns and it is moreorless same challenges. Political spectrum can still produce bad or good leadership it will only bring out the cons or pros of each spectrum. If they were multiethnic they will do exactly what we are doing. Most Muslims prefer the liberals in the west and the conservatives in the east. |
