Are you in Daniel James brain to decide if he can learn or not? Giggs learnt his at the end of his career. So the time is not the idea. Lahm made a major positional shift towards the end of his career.

Giggs already had the technical astuteness , capacity and ability he just channeled it differently and more strategically with team focus.

You can't teach technicality after a certain age .

Wenger once said once a player is over 13 it's almost impossible to teach personal skill and technical ability.

Unfortunately James has none of that.

What is there in Ejuke's game, maybe you are watching a different player than the rest of us if you can mention a technical attribute he has more than Aribo then I can take you seriously, saying that Osimhen has more technique than Aribo shows you are not serious

THANK you

Unfortunately James has none of that.

Unfortunately, switching position has more to do with intelligence than technicality. When a player can understand how to play a role, that is developing his tactical understanding, then the player can use the techniques he already has to pull it off.

So it can be learned, no matter the age.

You don't know if James has anything with respect to that because you have not seen him trained to play that role. Players have been making adjustments since time.

Recently, we watched Zinchenko move from the midfield role to the left back role and excel. He does not play the role in similar fashion to most left backs. He made a tactical adjustment to make it work.

It is tactical adjustment.

Heard he knocked down 28 points in the game before this one. You can't be under the leadership of an absolute beast like Giannis and not improve. Nwora should continue to keep his head down and work hard to be one of the best.

Osimhen Should not be allowed to play at the AFCON

It will spell disaster for us and end his young career. His injuries are still severe and haven't quite healed

He should be patient. There is always another 2 years

I don talk my own ooo

I know some people will come for my head

I agree with you UNQUESTIONABLY.

The injury was bad sha something that completely fractured the left side of his face is not beans. That said for him to have declared himself available for the AFCON means the Napoli doctors have given him the all clear. Anyway Eguavoen has said it's Napoli that will give the final green light.

What Osimhen went through was a face injury not even a head injury, The guy should have been ready even before now

Oshimen is fit and ready! He got injured on his face not leg! I don't see why he should miss AFCON. I heard the list will be out today or tomorrow GMT+1.

He had a fractured eye socket and cheek bone.

This is not just a simple bruise.

There is a need for physical recovery, then mental and then he has to get match fit.

He would have been told to take it easy on those aggressive and sometimes reckless do or die challenges.

However, this is intrinsic to his game AGGRESSION is his DNA , he may have to find another way to express himself.

Its not just about a medical diagnosis that says his bones are healed. If that fracture had healed so well.

WHY ON EARTH IS HE WEARING A PROTECTIVE MASK❓❓ fashion

He is not the only striker in the SE and furthermore he is not necessarily the best in the HERE and NOW.

The most in form striker as it stands, as we speak are Awoniyi and Dennis that's the fact of the matter.

Many here will not like that.

Very true English players of today by far have good technique. Playing with quality foreign talent like you said has further sharpened and toughened them up to face the rigors of the game. The influence of Guardiola and Kloop on the English football establishment can't be emphasized enough.

komekn:

I do not DISAGREE.

When the English FA looked at the over riding number of kick and rush carpenter footballers they were producing.

They decided complete revamp and regeneration of the entire training culture and strategy was essential.

That change started with the football academies.

New personal , etc Liverpool brought in the former assistant manager at Sao Paulo in Brazil to head up the U12 development. Because they had to start young can't teach an old dog new tricks and mentality.

The best academy in my opinion is Chelsea and Arsenal in the UK.

That's why the game has changed in England for English players they needed to compete with overwhelming number of overseas players that totally dominate the EPL.

According to Amadu Pinnick a New Coach may lead the super eagles to afcon next month that is starting in 17 days time. The coach will be announced next week is a former assistant to Jose Mourinho. I wonder the miracle he will perform for us to win afcon less than 17 days to a tournament like afcon.

I dunno why people are getting worked up over the idea of Osimhen returning so soon..He won't clear himself to return to action..Napoli medical team will do that... He is hardly the first to suffer a freak injury and return to action sooner than expected . I remember after the incident happened, some folks here gave their medical opinion that he would be out for at least one month, until Napoli came out and said it's 3 months... Now he is back to training...

I still believe that they are trying to push the return date so he could miss AFCON... But with results not going their way in recent games, they may be forced to have a rethink...

In reality everybody can play any position at any time, that's not the dispute.

The pertinent question is how proficient and effective can he play that position in comparison to the other players in the team. In Manchester United he will not be able to displace anybody in the midfield that's the objective reality.

If you were to take him to a lower club and physically less tasking league he may Indeed find space to play and be effective. But in Manchester United it is s big No NO.

Everything is not just theory you must put things in perspective and realistic with objectivity not just theory .

A well coordinated press will nullify any top player. It is far harder today to just skip past players. That is why people feel today skills is dying. The truth is that defending is far better now.
Do coaches hold back their players with flair because of tactics? Yes or no.

Defending isn't in any way better in my opinion. You can't defend against flair. Have three gifted people like Messi in a team and the opposition will be putting out fires till the last whistle blast.

Again, coaches mentality have changed that's why skills are in the back bench. Not necessarily defending. Na the same football we de watch na

There are three people that had been shortlist for the job, and they are waiting for the recommendation of the Technical committee before announcing the coach

The question is what is the NFF doing to address the problem ,what's the long term plan.

Our local football is in shambles compared to years when our local teams had dominance both local and international. They were the main recruitment ground initially for the larger bulk of SE.

Because to me are football is regressing, look at where our players are playing that have come out of the Nigerian system. And that tell us something.

You guys are still caught up with Messi in the era before the explosion of the modern game. Today, you can not find players floating up and down the field with the ball. The question is why?

The fact is simple, it is more difficult now. The players today are for more knowledgeable than the players in the past. The players today are far more conditioned than in the past. The players today have more work rate than in the past. The players today defend more as a unit than in the past.

So how is it possible to you that defending in the past is better? That is impossible.

So can James play that role if trained to okay it? Yes. No one is saying he will play better than those who naturally play there all their life. That is not the debate. The debate is that if trained he can play there well.

It takes tactical discipline and dedication to make those changes. It has been done over and over again.

Osimhen does not need to watch Benzema, Lewandowski and Kane to learn shooting techniques..

Osimhen is playing for Napoli, while 2 of the players you mentioned are playing for 2 of the best teams in the world with very good midfielders and chance creators, If Kane was playing for Man City he would score more goals than he does at Tottenham...

same goes for Osimhen, If Osimhen was playing for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Man City he would score more goals than he does at Napoli.... but it also depends on how the coach plays him..

Its the same reason Oshoala scores more for Barcelona than Super Falcons even though she misses opportunities when playing for Nigeria..

Lukaku is also playing for a world class team but his not scoring regularly... does that mean he should also watch Benzema, Lewandowski and Kane to learn shooting techniques

Osimhen has scored more goals than Kane this season so its Kane that should learn from Osimhen
.....

Are you serious ?

No they don't skip past players with ease. They do it with a degree of difficulty. Watch Bernardo Silva, he relies a lot on releasing the ball early. They can make occassional skips but they do not dwell on the ball. The game today is too fast paced to dwell on the ball.
You are talking as if we were not watching Hazard skip past 3-4 players per dribble recently before injury marred his career.
Some players are just exceptional no matter the era. Whatever era they find themselves, players like Maradona, R9, Messi will eat good.

Hazard was the most fouled player in the league. He found skipping difficult and got taken down at the slightest opportunity. You are talking about the early days of Hazard at Chelsea. Towards the end it became difficult but it is still away from the timeline.

The timeline has to do with he last few years which coincided with Guardiola's success.

Most teams are now efficient at defending.

Why do you think Hazard can not even try at Real Madrid?
