Sorry OP, you said you are scared of poverty, the truth is that, working a 25k job is also poverty on its own. Don't get me wrong, i respect your hustle and I understand where you are coming from, but you need to think towards opening your own business, that's the only way to break out of poverty, that bank you are working is someone's business. ANYTHING YOU DO THAT THE MONEY COMES TO YOU DIRECTLY IS ALWAYS THE BEST.

I'll suggest you save some money and open a POS business, or think of any other small business you can start up. Save some money even if it means going back to the shoe job. I hate working for someone. IT'S MODERN DAY SLAVERY, THATS THE BITTER TRUTH.

Most people will never encourage you to quit your job, most will either tell you shit like, " people de find work, you get work you de complain" or shit like "you can quit your job but make sure you have another one before you quit"
But what you have to understand that most people in the world are poor and depressed because of this kind of thinking.

My advice to you is that, do the job you hate and save religiously, be strict about your savings. Do whatever kind of job you need to do to save some money and open a small business, even if it's a POS business, AND STAY AWAY FROM WOMEN, ITS EITHER THEY WILL PULL YOU BACK FINANCIALLY OR DISTROY YOUR PLANS BY GETTING PREGNANT. If you give girl belle now, your own don finish you no go fit easily quit your job, you'll be trapped. Be cheerful about life, you have something that even the rich cannot buy, TIME, you are still very young.

NOR GO DO YAHOO OH, DO NOT DESTROY OTHER PEOPLE'S LIFE SO YOU CAN ENJOY YOURS.

Please try to collect this
Idowu116:

I haven't even collect my certificate and testimonial till today.
because you might still need it.

Before you quit that job, please may sure you get another one on ground.

Do you always have time to do other things ?

I mean with that, you can easily start learning something you can later use as your source of income

I think you should stop giving your mother 5k.

Your salary is too small for you to be doing that.

Just tell her you are making a contribution.

There is dignity in whatever you choose to find dignity. Cleaner job is cool.and if you know yourself, it's a way to get out of poverty. First let to learn trust and let people trust you. Take the cleaning serious and start cleaning for your ogas even if it's free for the beginning in their homes. Get referrals. Look at it, when you get home cleaning and have six customers, you are sure of getting more money in a month and less time spent on the job. But customers can come only by referral and referral comes when they trust you. You need your present job to gather the experience and connection.

You have a personal problem, this world doesn't care about anybody and nobody cares about you.
Your first mistake is not going to take your certificate and testimonials out of shame because of ordinary cloth to passing out,but you aren't ashamed to work as a cleaner for 25k monthly.

If you had your waec certificate, you'd have used it to apply for some teaching job while teaching you could have applied for part time studies ,while working and studying, you'd have gain experience and build your get your tertiary education. Next thing , you graduate and get a good job and all. But you prefer to feel bad and wallow in self pity.

You're not in position to help ,your focus is to drag yourself out, you're still young, but if you don't channel your life well, you'd end up frustrated, there are many cleaners that found ways to become graduates. Pick up your life and do something, if you aren't going to school, then pls go and learn a trade.

Hello Everyone,am new here and I see the way people share opinion about what they are going through in life so I decided to share mine too.

This is a little bit long please bear with me.
Am a 22 year old undergraduate.I finished my secondary School in 2017 but couldn't further my education because my parents (father particularly) are financially down.

I didn't even attend my graduation party party because my dad refused to get me the clothes we chose to wear in my class.

So out of shame,I didn't attend the party and I haven't even collect my certificate and testimonial till today.

Later in November that year (finished school in September),I decided to start looking for a menial job so a friend helped me with work at a particular market in Lagos, where I wash shoe for shoe sellers.

I did this till 2020 in March before the Corona virus issue started.

So around December I resumed the work again till early April, this year.

A friend of my mom helped me get a job at a bank,to work as a cleaner.

All this while, my dad and mom had a serious fight and my dad stopped living with us.

My father is a stubborn and who fornicates and my mom is not happy with it.

So luckily,I got the job and I started working that same month, paid 25k.
With this 25k, a take transport everyday #400 (200 go,200 come)and I feed from it too.i give my mum 5,000 from it too but am not happy and comfortable with it because before the month ends I end up having nothing, trekking to work and have not to eat talk less of saving to further my education.

Working as a cleaner, people use to take advantage of me a lot and a person,I have studied my nature well.I don't like people sending me on errands,I hate it but that is the nature of the job.

People take me for granted, some abuse me then I would cry and wish I never existed.

Sometimes I think of committing sucide but I later do keep my cool.I am an introvert but I have decided to start talking back at people and refusing to answer their message but am scared I might loose my job even though am not happy with the job.

Am also thinking of stopping the job myself but am scared of poverty.

I don't want to go back to the shoe washing job too because it is too stressful and I get sick when doing it

Please what should I do

You want to be tall in life, your legs will be thin.
You said you don't like to be sent on errands- no way in that environment you are, your superior will always send you on errands.

My advice for you is to persevere and focus on your studies, it's a matter of time, God will promote you.
I know a messenger in a bank that was promoted after, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and he became a superior to those who used to send him on errands

If you hear another people's tory you just go dey thank God for your own. To OP this life is a war where you don't have a choice than to fight till you win but if you freak out due to fear, you may sustain severe injury or death. This Nigeria is really tough and hard to survived especially if you come from a poor background without any helper. Most successful people you see today equally had passed through this and they survived it just believe in God and continuing doing your work till you see another better one. Don't try suicide as you suggested in your post cos it's a great sin. This life is a serious war is either you fight it to the end or lose out.

I understand you perfectly and I think that I know your problem:

1. Pride
2. Laziness
3. Frustration
4. Self Hyping
5. Overpackaging

You know what? Those of in the labour market with Bsc or Msc still battle with insults someway. So you no get any certificate and you dey feel like Obasanjo. Try teaching job even with Msc, you go know say insult no recognize certificates, not to talk of someone without a certificate.

Anyway, I dey feel your pain and my advice is that you should keep managing it while you learn another skill on part-time. May be generator repair, tailoring, hairdressing, phone repair, motorcycle repair, etc.

After you have had a skill to hold on to, you can quit. As long as keep looking for meagre jobs without any certificate, people will keep looking down on you, treating you like a nobody.

Shalom!

Hmm...don't know why rich people don't really help people much like that rather they used you, if some rich people employ you for a job of 25k, you are actually working 50k job but being paid 25k because they know the poor don't have a choice.

One thing I notice about some people is they don't have appreciative heart, some will even tell you ESPECIALLY girls ," what have you done and nobody ever do" . if am rich and do something for someone but instead utter such statement I might stop helping people.

In this life, just be prayerful because one day God go answer that everyday prayers
