YourFavEvangeli:John 1:33 I did not recognize Him [as the Messiah], but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this One is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ Matthew 3:11 “As for me, I baptize you with water because of [your] repentance [that is, because you are willing to change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret your sin and live a changed life], but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment). Acts 1:5 For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized and empowered and united with the Holy Spirit, not long from now.” What did Apostle Peter call the falling upon of the Holy Spirit, when he said he remembered John 1:33 above? YourFavEvangeli, if to be honest, this is just like legalistically and pharisaically insisting on circumcision of the loins. If you really are well versed and immersed in the word of God and be a good student of 2 Timothy 2:15, you would have noticed that water is not mentioned in Acts 2:38, just as water is not used in you assumed to be versed and immersed in the word of God Lastly, show me anywhere in the bible of John the Baptist saying, He who comes after me, requires you to be baptised in water Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories. |

mbaise1000:John 3:3-7 3Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.” 4Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?” 5Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh [the physical is merely physical], and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not be surprised that I have told you, ‘You must be born again [reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].’ Brah, watch and raptly to this. You can see, experience and feel the power of America, but for you to enter into America, you must meet certain criteria, as no one ordinarily enters America anyhow or just like that. Going back to the Nicodemus' clandestine private meeting with Jesus above. At John 3:2, yes, Nicodemus recognised, admitted and confessed that the demonstrated power and move done by Jesus were all of God, but at John 3:3, Jesus informed Nicodemus that, its only a person born from on high or above, which also is known as being 'born again' that is capable of seeing that the demonstrated power and move done by Jesus are all of God, then to buttress the point, Jesus after seeing that Nicodemus, looked puzzled about being told of 'born again' then at John 3:5, went further to explain that its combination criteria to enter the kingdom of God. The decider is born of water (i.e. the amniotic fluid) and born of God (i.e. the Spirit) We all get born of the Spirit, from the moment will believe. The instalment baptism of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of the Spirit soon after follow in tandem cc Ref: The 'born again' question shot at YourFavEvangeli, by Everlastingson & Kernniejay but especially by chatinent. John baptized the Jews (including Jesus) in the name of JEHOVAH (the God of Abraham) WHY? Because during the first century most Jews have lost faith in their God as two Jews (Theudas and Judas) both claimed they're the Christ emerged one after another and died off without any trace of their existence. Act 5:36-37 So it's like all their hope regarding what the prophets told them about a coming saviour is fake. That's exactly when John the baptist appeared preaching in the wilderness saying "repent for the kingdom of God is at hand" {Matthew 3:2} most Jews as they're confused went to him and because he is also talking about their God they were willing to obey whatever he says, then he began baptizing them in preparation for the coming of the Christ! The Jewish religious leaders sent messengers to ask him if he's the Christ and to their shocking surprise this one said "NO" so they asked him to identify himself since what he's doing (baptism) is strange to them {John 1:19-22} John made it clear to them that he is the one sent to prepare the way for the Christ! John 1:23-28 Then Jesus came to the Jordan to get baptized and at once God's Holy Spirit touched John so he recognized Jesus instantly he refused to baptize Jesus but Jesus urged him to go ahead and do the needful! Matthew 3:13-17 Jesus later told the Jews that both Theudas and Judas were fraudsters {John 10:8} and he proved to be the Christ to the extent that a prominent member of the Jewish High Court (Nicodemus) confirmed it. John 3:2 But the Jewish religious leaders of the first century doesn't want Jesus because he undermines their position so they conspired to get him killed. John 11:45-53 After his death and resurrection Jesus commanded his disciples to go baptizing new converts in the name of the Father: the God of Abraham by teaching them all they need to know about this God. Son: himself and all the things he did and taught. Holy Spirit: the active force of God that operates in those that believe so that they're able to perform according to expectation. Matthew 28:19-20 The Jews already knew so much about their own God and His active force through all the mighty works this God did in ancient times that are written in their scriptures. But then they need to put faith in the ransom sacrifice that Jesus just performed in behalf of mankind. So @ Pentecost Peter told the Jews who felt remorseful and bitter due to all what their leaders did to the real Christ {Act 2:37} Peter then urged them to get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ! Act 2:38 WHY did Peter said this? Well because that's the only name missing in their salvation! |

joxxy01:Luke 24:47 46And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and in His name repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. Jesus Christ never gave any instructions for anyone to be baptised in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If you have such instruction, then share verse(s) with an accompanying witness verse(s) Any thought that baptising in the name of Jesus, has to do with water baptism, is 110 percent not correct. Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories. |
Re: Why You Must Be Baptised In The Name Of Jesus by TruthinAction: 7:38pm On Jan 09, 2022 |
chatinent: The answer is in Romans 10:9-10 which reads; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10) it takes two steps. First believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and that God raised him on the third day to justify you. The second step is to say it with your mouth. So, if you want to be born again, just say this prayer and mean it with your heart; Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you died for me and I believe that God raised you from the dead to justify me. I hereby confess you as my Lord and Personal Saviour from this day hence. Thank you for washing my sins away. I believe I am saved according to your word. Heavenly Father, I am your son from this day henceforth in Jesus name. |

YourFavEvangeli: Water baptism has nothing to do with our salvation. And you are only qualified to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit after you are saved. When Jesus said unless one is born of water and of the spirit, he cannot be born again, he was not talking about water baptism. The water there represents the word of God. As you hear the gospel, the Holy Spirit convicts the sinner and he is responds by accepting Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. According to Peter, he wrote; Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, BY THE WORD OF GOD, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:23 ) And Paul likens the word to water in Ephersians 5:26; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the WASHING OF WATER BY THE WORD, (Ephesians 5:26 KJV) 1 Like |

Watch 'born of the flesh is flesh' and 'born of the Spirit is spirit' there is no way you'll equate -ve and +ve, interpreted to be +ve and +ve, by using by the word of God or washing of water by the Word John 3:6 is a -ve and +ve, so has to be interpreted as so, meaning -ve (i.e. the water is the amniotic fluid, which when the 'water' breaks birth happens) and +ve (i.e. the Spirit, when birthed to become spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified in the mind, thoughts etc) You have the carnality and spirituality correctly represented that way, and not with the false equivalence you put forward by proof-texting with 1 Peter 1:23 and Ephesians 5:26 Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories. |
