Pls . I am in my 30s and I finished with a 2.2 so I applied for a post graduate certificate business and management, i work at the bank, i was just given admission with a scholarship of 5000 dollars for sep intake 2022.
My question is my course in school was political science but ended up in d bank now for 9 years ( 2 different banks in d space if 9 years) Does what I studied in school and my choice of study in d canadian school affect my visa chances.

Please someone should respond to me
I have tried to see if I similar question has been asked but can’t trace any.
Is it compulsory I apply with my kids who are us citizens ?
I don’t want to at this time because living expenses would amount to 5k cad per child
What do you advice ?
Does not applying with then change anything

Whether you apply with them or not, you have to show how they will fare with or without you. So you still need to show more money than your tuition and living expenses.

Good day, wanted to know if it's possible to apply for a PG. Cert in Canada with a First class degree in Computer Applications from a university in India. Will it be disregarded as me being over qualified or I should apply for an MSc instead. I need a course in Data Analytics or something related. Thanks

You can apply for PGC. However, your GPA and field (computer science) are too lucrative right now for you to low ball yourself. If I were you, I will patiently look for msc in computer science with scholarship. I am sure you will get one.

Also, I won't do msc in data science because it is a narrow field that accepts anyone. Any graduate can study data science, but it is likely only those that study bsc computer science will be accepted into msc computer science. Also, msc computer science graduate can easily get data science job, but not the other way round. All the best.

Please house, I need your advise before putting in my application.

I have 9m plus in my account and my dad has 3m plus in his own account.

Should I get the 3m in his account to mine and get a gift deed to support it OR I get a letter and affidavit of support/sponsorship from him, and use his statement of account as a co sponsor.

Thank you for your kind response.

I think the 3m in his account is too small for him to be your sponsor. He should transfer the money to you as a support from him and get a letter of support to back it up. You have to give full details of your program tuition and family situation (married with kids or not) to get the best advise.

I know a self sponsored single applicant that applied August 2021 and received PPR this week. 6m savings in personal mutual account (3m savings and 3m deposit weeks before application). 5m fixed deposit (two months before application). Going for Post baccalaureate after bachelors (related program). Submitted work documents (salary probably 300-500k naira).

Na grace and favour at end, but you have to knots some lose ends yourself too. All the best.

Any siblings in Nigeria? If no, there is nothing you can do beyond assets (land), study leave, and after study plan to prove your home ties. Your father or step mum can still be your sponsor. It would be great if anyone of them had been sending your money before and you can prove that.

You have to ask them if they added you as a family in your father's application. If they did not, they will call him for misrepresentation and may loose his status if he mention it now. All the best.

Broda this isn't so complex as u carry it to be.

If u have a legit source of income with documents to prove how u got the money, backing it with a study leave from work then you are good on your part.

Same with your dad...documents to prof is income sufficiently is enough.

Now u wanna make a decision whether to add ur dad 3M in ur Acct....
If ur dad is indeed working it is fine as more moni would be coming in...

Jux dt u can't empty ur dad accct broda...that might be a red flag...

Moreover you dont need to show so much moni dt wouldn't be needed for ur living allowance or tuition fee..

Plus, hope you aren't just focusing on the moni and living the other VO concerns like home ties, reason of study etc.

In summary: if u have successfully proven both sources of income, let ur dad be the co sponsor by sending u a ratio from his acct as gift deed, which needs to be explained in your SOP....

My 2 cents[/quote]

Thank you so so much much… your 2 cents is so useful..

Yes… I am married with 2 kids. Have a running business that generates weekly/monthly income of about 300k.

Dad is a pensioner with 100k steady monthly pension

Program is an international business management at NBCC 10k tuition and 10k living expenses for a year.

Thank you for the response broda.. I truly appreciate.

Dad has a steady monthly pension. The 3m is just part of his gratuity to support what I have for the POF.

I updated my answer with a recent and successful case of a single and self-sponsored applicant with about 11m naira. Your case is more complex as a married person with kids. What are your children ages? Are they going with you? How will they survive with or without you? Will your partner apply with you? Does your partner have a reliable and verifiable source of income? You need to answer these questions and more to give a clear picture of your financial situation here and in your LOE.

About your business, is it registered? Who will be incharge of when you are studying? What's the average monthly or annual profit? Is your 9m naira in a business or personal account? How and how long did you gather the 9m in the account?

Scrutinizing your proposed financial situation without answering above questions, I think it is better for your dad to just transfer the money to you as a gift. No need to submit his account because he cannot afford it as a pensioner earning 100k naira a month.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Residentourist: 4:56pm On Jan 21, 2022
This information is not correct. I travelled with two of my kids who are US citizens and whose application had coincidentally just been refused at the time. They were given a visitors record at the POE after the officer asked me if they would be staying throughout my study duration. The visitor record allows them study in Canada and is valid for the same duration as my study permit.

Predator188:

3k cad per child...and not 5k cad....
As us has free visa to canada, they can't stay in US beyond 180 days on free visit visa to Canada unless extended otherwise they will be illegal immigrants...they can't study on visit visa..
They must be included on the family information form when making your application..if they can't travel with you at this time ..and all necessary information filled date of birth ,birth certificates attached etc ..for future records..if you don't include this information, you will have hard time bringing them to Canada to join you later..excluding kid after the application..

SOWP and study visa applications approved same day!!!

My husband's  SOWP and my 11year old son study permit got approved after the 3rd attempt.
First attempt 2016 we all applied as a family and were all bounced on purpose of visit and home ties. After I got my study permit approved in June 2021 we reapplied  on
11 July 2021 - visitors visa for hubby and study permit for kids
Refused 29th September

Reapplied October 29 before the GCMS notes came because it was delayed.
Medical for my husband November 15 ( my son had done his medicals earlier)
Medical passed November 22
GCMS notes finally came in late November- December 2021 (applied for hubby and the kids and they all came at different dates, one even came in the middle of December) GCMS notes showed the VO was concerned about the cost implications of running 2 homes and home ties.
Luckily all those concerns had been adequately tackled in the SOP during reapplication.
In the course of waiting a friend who had also applied for study permit for her kids decided to try out the new IRCC portal and got her kids visitor visa approved in 7days so we decided to give it a try too. Visitor visa application was done on the 19th of December 2021...then another round of waiting commenced.
Eligibility 20/01/2022 (noticed my son's medical was passed on that date)

PPRs January 21, 2022!!!
