GeneralDae:I'm not denying the fact that population also play a role in economic development, but that huge population might also be a deterrent to economic growth. Huge population can only benefit a nation when majority of the populace are educated, industrious or skilled. And govt of such nation will spend more on infrastructures, education, health etc than nations with lesser population. Huge population does not = Huge economy. At least I know Japan and Germany has a bigger economy than countries with more population than both nations. |

GeneralDae: That's because Admistratively Tamale is the third City but not in the case of development and population.. In Ghana most things are spread in this way Accra Kumasi Tamale then Takoradi But in terms of development it goes this way Accra Kumasi Tema Takoradi Sunyani then Tamale In terms of Population it goes like Accra Kumasi Takoradi then Tamale 3 Likes |

theenchanter:jeezez comprehension obviously not your strong point.....if you understood economics you'd know bigger populations tend to have bigger economies.... That's not to say population is the only factor that contributes to economic size... However Nigeria's big population is the main reason it has a bigger economy than SA for example 1 Like |

vankelvin:Kano actually is a state with a capital called Kano city. it is probably the second largest state in terms of population because it has over 15 million people. Lagos and Abuja are more like city states especially Lagos. I don't understand what you mean though when you say Kano gets all the attention from Government. Every state/city except probably Abuja are primarily controlled by the state Governors (who also have their budgets and appoint Local Government Chairmen) in terms of developments in the state, even though there are some federal roads to be done in those states or federal projects with national focus. For instance, the Kano Governor is fully responsible for the development of the ongoing Kano Economic City just like the Lagos Governor is responsible for the ongoing red line and blue line rail projects for his state. |

GeneralDae:yes, I've to kakoradi and cape coast and Tema severally.. yes, me and them are like cat and rat because they're evil and very envious even to themselves. Ghanaians are so evil that they hate it when you're winning and will do anything to pull you down even though they don't have the intention to work hard and get where you are. They just want to see you fail and that's all that matter to them. They're evil especially to themselves and anything black but worship anything light skin. |

jl115:I clearly understand economics... And I also know that bigger population do not tend to have a bigger economy but bigger scale of industries do. So, u saying bigger population bla bla bla is trash. Bigger population without underlying industries and infrastructures would yield nothing. That's not to say population is the only factor that contributes to economic size... However Nigeria's big population is the main reason it has a bigger economy than SA for exampleand we begin from the first step "how is Nigeria's big population the main reason Nigeria has a bigger economy than SA"? if u can't prove ur claim, stop bluffing nonsense. |

GeneralDae: I know all that you just typed so calm your nerves. Or was it because I did not add city to Kano? I wasnt referring to the State of Kano but the city called Kano. Per the little I know about Nigeria Kano city was the 2nd most important city after Lagos for the longest time until Abuja came into the picture.. I know Calabar was once the capital but Kano city politically ranks high about all the other cities apart from Lagos and Abuja. |

GeneralDae:No sir.. you talking stereotype? Ask how many foreigners Ghanaian landlords have given their money back because they're foreigners. I mean black Africans. Another example is opera Square in Accra where they injured alot of Nigerians for owning a shop.. go there now and see that almost all the shops are occupied by the Chinese doing retail.. makola market have Chinese doing retail yet they say their so called GIPC law doesn't target only Nigerians 2 Likes |

vankelvin:No problem with my nerves at all . Hmm you may be right about Kano although I think Kaduna and Zaria in particular was/is probably more important for the North than Kano except in terms of population, but most people would probably say it's Kano though. In general, I get what you're saying. So Tamale is definitely not the third most important city in Ghana economically but rather politically. |

GeneralDae: Sure Tamale is not. In Ghana we have 4 but 3 functioning Zones. We have the Coastal development zone with Accra as the capital. Middle belt zone with Kumasi as their capital Northern zone with Tamale as their Capital so some people see Tamale as the 3rd city sake of its geographical location and also for political reasons but Takoradi, Tema and Sunyani are all ahead of Tamale 2 Likes |

GeneralDae: I know the question was not directed to me but let me answer because I think I have a first hand experience about happenings here. The average Ghanaian always want validation of how their country is doing especially from a foreigner, whom they determine from his/her accent, they want to live in the bubble that they are best on the continent so they don't have to worry about their failures because they are to timid to admit to their shortcomings. They are obsessed with being the first in everything even when everyone isn't carried along in those metrics. A foreigner most especially a Nigeria who say it as it is will then becomes a public enemy and asked to go back to his country because he has failed to hype them. So tell me how you won't be cat and rat with this kind of people? Lastly,I have been to everywhere you asked and yes Kumasi has a big market in fact, I think it's bigger than onitsha main market but the city itselfs is like Benin City without red soil or ibadan with much more visible ancient buildings. |

theenchanter:Because bigger poverty stricken population creates bigger demand for goods & services = bigger GDP. The day you get to be like Sweden,Taiwan or Switzerland with $700bn in GDP's and less than 20m in population then you can talk.As for now you just have lowly $2400 per capita income similar to Ghana,Mauritania, Honduras and Ivory Coast. 2 Likes |

POKUASI2:Opera Square shops are owned by Ghanaians.. I told you you were bitter.... Most Ghanaians are beginning to refuse renting their properties to Nigerians because of the experience they've had with Nigerian tenants. Mind you, you don't pay maintenance insurance to land Lord's when you rent their place... So what happens when your rent contract ends and the property is damaged? The Land Lord bear the cost, right? Most Nigerian tenants have been cruel yo their land Lord's, some will leave a one week poop in the WC for the Land Lord to clean. Others will break WCs and Window glasses and leave.. Some Land Lord's also have their own houses on the same compound and don't like the noise associated with most Nigerian tenants. Take note of the word most and not all While you are here bitterly complaining, you've forgotten that, gone were the days when Ghanaians will happily rent their properties to foreigners especially Nigerians ... Because they get to charge higher rent. Stop crying and complaining and blame your own attitude for the current situation 2 Likes |
