Yes, in 2015 - 7yrs ago, Kenya poverty figures was @1.90 a day was at 36%.
7yrs after, in 2021, only 16% of pp lives below the poverty line.
You can't be pro data then disregard statista. cool

I'll stick with WB figures thank you very much, since it is an actual organisation that does studies and research, where as statista is just a website that reposts statistics, not unlike Wikipedia in fact.

Every day there is a battle on nairaland front page between Nigerians and Ghanaians. It is becoming very surprising. The newest argument about a bus driver and his conductor..

Also, the curve is descending. I anticipate a shocking figure in the next 5 yrs with the same trend. 2005 - 2015, the gap drastically reduced with a whopping 10%
Yes and South Africa's decreased by nearly 10% as well between 2005 and 2015.

Rvp is 100% correct.

Unless comprehension is not your forte.

Kenya's extreme poverty is not 37% - it is 16% just as RVP is telling you.

Stop this unnecessary argument.
Presenting statista as a source vs the World Bank?? are you good bro?

Your poverty is 37% according to the latest WB figures!!

Your rage is not coming from WB source. tongue It's how I've called things as they are while quoting samboro. I have no apology for that if your nerves were hurt, sorry(for not apologizing).

Secondly, I quoted jl115 with 2015 figures to debunk his 37.9% rate - which he didn't Back-up with any reliable source.
QM:
With the descending curve.
2005 - 46•8%
2015 - 36•1%

How the hell can the figure pump once again in 2022 to a whopping 37•9% when the curve in those 10 good consecutive yrs has been going down?

Statista, a source that has been countlessly used to prove things here, it has a 2021 poverty rate data at 16%, you can't disregard it.

Had to embolden all the years to save you from sinking deep into the miasma of confusion.

"Another important message is that, as Kenya urbanizes, cities are not providing enough
economic opportunities for urban households to improve their income levels and obtain adequate standards of living. Despite a
drop in the growth rate caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the international poverty headcount rate is expected to
continue its decline, but only at a moderate rate to 33.1 percent in 2020 and 32.4 percent in 2021."

Statista collects and integrates data from different sources then they come out with their findings. They don't just dig data in their bat.
Statista GmbH (Hamburg) collects and aggregates data from multiple public and private sector sources, including ACTA, AWA, Euromonitor, Gfk, Outfit, Scarborough, Simmons, Target Group Index and VUMA

We're in 2022, not 2015. You cannot use 2015 data to prove anything. At least 2018, for Nigeria, it makes a little bit of sense, Boer. cool

Why should I do it? No link, no report on its findings, no nothing just a mere write-up.

Now that we've tackled your other shenanigans, you're just about to defend this blog to your grave. while at it, dispute Statista- one of the most reputable sources which says our poverty rate as of 2022 is 16%. Or do you just believe countries with black-ridden economies were never bound to develop?

Baboon, don't reason like a dolt.
We need to be realistic here. Let's not play around with ignorance. Nigeria has nearly 8 times morocco's population with a paltry $2000 GDP per capita. You can't overlook per capita because the only way a small populated nation can compete with a huge one is through per capita.
Morocco has a whopping 3,009.25 USD per capita. What can you say about that?

The gap in pp btw Morocco and Kenya is a mere 12k. Too little to be significant.
She.male monkey, you are out of your depth here.

Did you know that in terms of per capita, Nigeria even with *4 of Kenya's population is above Kenya?

How come Nigeria has a bigger per capita than kenya.?
We're talking about Kenya / Morocco and you are bringing in Nigeria.
Look at Morocco, it's a smaller country than Kenya, yet it has a bigger GDP than Kenya. How?
There's no country smaller than Nigeria in Africa that has a bigger GDP than Nigeria. None!

If it's just about population, pray, tell us why little Morocco has a bigger GDP than Kenya. You may need to call one of your masters to explain. wink
