MackyNaija: Dear sir, all opinions are not equally valid. I live in the same country as you, I think it makes sense that someone provides more context and refutes some of the things you've said that are misleading. Unless the forum is a personal blog, unfortunately my thoughts and my experiences don't really count, especially when you seem to present your opinions as what obtains in a country with over 350 million people. lol not sure what battle you think I am fighting with you with regards to your application for citizenship. Even street beggars here are entitled to a blue passport, nothing special. 5 Likes |

In the last 3 months, I have Occupied myself with taking care of my daughter, Taking on more responsibilities at work and Keeping an eye on the house construction. Pix 1. Site prep was done immediately after we got into contract (they are currently prepping multiple lots before releasing for sale). It has the footers and underground plumbing. Pix 2. Foundation prep where they put the pre-tension cables and ground water Insulation (black nylon in naija terms). Pix 3. Pouring the concrete and tensioning the foundation cables (I don't think metal rod are used in this style). Pix 4. Framing where they put a bulk of the skeleton together and the roof trusses. It is coming up nicely. 6 Likes

MackyNaija: 1. Again this is largely uninformed. Donald Trump, up until 2015, was simply a political joke. He and his family voted democrat and donated to Clinton's 2008 campaign for president. It's not clear how you were a Trump supporter, considering you likely had no idea what his political views were when you were in Nigeria. 2. You're not "reviewing" or "attacking" Democrats, you're simply delusional. To say Democrats have anti-American politics is sadly evidence that you are merely parroting Republican propaganda. Republicans have not passed a single pro-American law since the 1930s... Let's see what Democrats have passed in that time: a. FDR passed the new deal in 1933 that rescued the US from the great depression of 1932 that Herbert Hoover plunged the US. The new deal set America up for an unparalleled period of economic dominance until Ronald Reagan destroyed it in 1980 - you can guess what party Reagan was a part of. The new deal introduced major banking reform through the creation of the FDIC (which insures every dollar you deposit in any bank account today), the Glass-Steagall Act, and the Securities Act of 1933. The new deal also established the Federal Housing Administration (which holds >80% of US home loans today), the GI Bill, Social Security, and unemployment insurance. b. LB Johnson passed medicare (which insures almost all Americans aged 65 and above) and medicaid (which provides income to the disabled and the poor - and is one of the major reasons America does not have the level of poverty seen in Nigeria). Most importantly, LBJ's government passed the 1965 civil rights act - which is what allows ungrateful black men like you to be treated equally in the United States. It also pass the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which reversed the 1922 INA that specifically blocked immigration to the US from anywhere other than Western Europe. This Act is the sole reason people like you can emigrate to the US and apply for an N-400 c. Democrats passed the Child Tax Credit, CHIP (which insures poor children up to the age of 6 - until republicans let is lapse on purpose) and Obamacare (which opened healthcare insurance to the very poor and small business owners0. In the first 8 years, it reduced the proportion of the uninsured in the US from more than 46.5 million in 2010 to fewer than 26.7 million in 2016. Please tell us what Republicans passed since 1932 that helped you or anyone else? I can tell you what they did though... a. Reagan cut top marginal tax rates (on the rich) from 70% to 28%... leading to the progressive decline of the middle class. b. Reagan's deregulation of the economy virtually led to the collapse of American manufacturing, as we shipped jobs to low wage countries like China. See here - https://www.businessinsider.com/what-happened-to-american-jobs-in-the-80s-2017-7 c. Thanks to Clinton, the American economy had a surplus in 2001, we ended up trillions in debt by the time Bush 2 left office, while mirring us in a 20 year destructive war in Afghanistan and Iraq that cost over $3 trillion. Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to US politics... you're simply a follower, just parroting what you hear on Fox with no critical thinking. 14 Likes 1 Share |

MackyNaija: Hmmm the dropbox was only canceled in Nigeria - we know why... has nothing to do with illegal immigration to the US. The issue of illegal immigration is largely a corporate problem. Republicans could end this by simply enforcing the requirement for employment verification (I-9). We know why republicans refuse to do so. 3 Likes |

MackyNaija: Perhaps because it is obvious you are in over your head and have no rational response? I'm not writing it to you... I'm making sure others don't read your posts and think you have a clue what you're talking about. I have a serious aversion (and dare I say, contempt) for blacks like you who come here on the back of hard-fought battles for racial equality that Democrats have fought, won, and painfully paid the price in terms of loss of political capital in much of the south. Yes, you vote for republicans... the same people who would more than happily reject your N-400 and send you back to Africa. You claim to be a Trump supporter, the same guy who openly pondered stopping immigration from "s**thole" countries (like yours), in favor of people from Norway. People like you are blind jokes... 14 Likes 1 Share |

Hi Justwise, I have never had any issues with anyone posting here but Twoods is violating Rule 1 by derailing this thread. He can create a topic and call me out there and that wouldn't be a problem but he is distracting those interested in some of the nonsense I have to say here. 5 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Naija to Yankee Thoughts And Experiences by Dremca(m): 4:21pm On Feb 24, 2022 |
To be very honest, Twoods has not in any way derailed the thread. The thread is about sharing thoughts and experiences and that's exactly what he is doing. If you have contrary views to his argument, you can equally counter that constructively just as he has done. Or are you against freedom of speech and expressions. Well, I wouldn't be surprised because your role model, Donald Trump was always attacking those who oppose his views including the media and I don't know the last time Joe Biden attacked the media because they had contrary views from his. If not for the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 passed by Democrats, you wouldn't have been in America today. We will be glad if you can tell us what Pro-American republican has done. We are all here to learn not to feel intimidated by someone else constructive view. MackyNaija: 17 Likes |

Dremca:I don die for laughter Later una go call am my papa. I like the way you have spoken, devoid of any attack or insult. See as all of una deh try to break my head because of immigration; mostly for the illegal people or processes. As a principle, I don't discuss politics, religion and more recently I added race and immigration because people cannot set aside their emotions (me inclusive) to have healthy discussions when it comes to these topics. Remember, this thread which started in 2017 was/is a part of my little quota to encourage Nigerians to come to the US. Let us not allow our political views distract us from what matters. 17 Likes |

TWoods: You couldn't have put it any better. One read at his opinions and it's immediately evident it's a regurgitation of Republican diatribes. I don't think he'll agree though. According to him, he's been a Trump supporter since forever and recent events have not influenced his views. But we know better... 9 Likes |

If you no get money, at least get book sense: An approximate narrative of a true story... I met someone on LinkedIn last year when he came to solicit for funds to pay application fees. He made a passionate plea and by the time I saw his post, it had already been taken care of by well meaning Nigerians. Fast forward to the end of the year when he had to leave to start the Spring semester, he came looking for 750k but this time it was different... He had been admitted and had a full tuition waiver - I wad blown away! His i20 showed his total cost of schooling for the first year as $0, the school was covering all of it - this opportunity could not go to waste. Story short - after he had raised about 100k, a well meaning individual came and covered the remaining cost of the flight ticket. People believed in his dreams. He is settled in now, gotten his SSN, started on-campus assistantship and life is gradually beginning to make sense in America. In summary, use what you have got to get what you need. Read book, blast, show evidence and people will go to the moon and back for you. Additions: I know someone that goes to educational threads on Twitt3r, Li1nkedIn and Nairal4nd to seek genuine and smart students that have financial needs they can help for studies abroad. 28 Likes 5 Shares |

House is coming together.. Pix 5: Cornice installed (think parapet in naija building) and entire Siding done - basically plywood on the sides before tyvek (wraps to keep water away) and bricks. Next should be plywood on the roofs before roof tyvek and roofing sheets. 7 Likes 1 Share

December 12th 2021, I took pictures A and B. Upcoming community. Pix C is what our street looks like now, in just 3 months the home with an arrow costs over $50k extra on the base price. Taken Feb 26th 2022. Pix D is directly behind where I stand to take pictures. Taken Dec 12th, 2021. They have made more progress. Don't delay, pull the trigger on your house purchase. Please why don't they build houses over there with block and concrete. I believe its the reason hurricane carry their house during natural disaster. MackyNaija: 1 Like |

Dremca: Simple answer - economics. It is cheaper (although it is debatable if the cost difference is as wide as we assume) to use wood and less complex. You can build a wood home in a few days. 2 Likes |

Good day everyone, please I need your advice. I have USA immigrant visa. Is it possible to go to another state in the US that is different from the address and state I used in my application and during my visa interview without negative effect at the port of entry in the US? I intend to move from Nigeria to the US. |
Re: Naija to Yankee Thoughts And Experiences by Dremca(m): 1:39am On Feb 28, 2022 |
You don't have an "immigrant visa," what you have is a "non-immigrant visa." Provided your passport has been stamped at the port of entry and you didn't overstay, you can go to any state in US including Alaska and Hawai. philips3: |

Dremca: Alexgeneration:Do concrete houses also not get affected by natural disasters? I know wooden house here can withstand snow and hurricane as much as a block house would... Sam roof loses. Fire would have a likely total loss on wood. Flood almost same effect. TWoods:When I did searches online, I learned some of it is historical. Initial settlers used what was readily available which was was cheap and fast. Truly it is very fast - their weight carrying columns are multiple Woods merged as one. No rebars or waiting for concrete to dry. Drove past yesterday and they were 50% done with roofing. Sample Pix 6: Roofing plywood and water insulation done. (Poor quality pictures taken thru my car window as there was active work at the site, will get a clearer one). There is the "true insulation" done inside the houses. 3 Likes
