Honestly I don't see it that way, Our main problem will always be creativity and scoring,the only time we have had problem with defenders in my almost two decades of supporting Chelsea is only lampard first season with us, we are so lucky with defenders as a team that even if we bring somebody from the academy to our back we will still not be worse off and more so if two of our CBs were leaving I don't think kounde is a perfect replacement for a CB.

why does it matter if have top scorer? As long as the team is scoring then it's all good.
It's even better not to have top scorer that will be target of defenders.

As for kounde, well, he is one of most sought-after defenders in Europe. He will be a good replacement for Christensen for 40m.
