Investment platform, 86FB, has pointed accusing fingers at Fintech company, Flutterwave, for its inability to run efficiently and pay up its investors.

The platform which claims to focus on football and collaborates with William Hill, a global online gambling company based in London, England, to integrate probability and statistics, disclosed in a statement that its funds have been maliciously frozen by Flutterwave. It added that this had made it impossible for it to pay up its investors.

Noting that it would not succumb to unreasonable acts, the platform called on investors to join it in enforcing Flutterwave to release its funds.

What 86FB is saying
The platform, in a statement to investors, noted, “A series of things have happened recently that make us unable to operate normally, and I apologize for this.

“The purpose of today’s announcement is to explain to you why 86fb cannot run normally. The reason is because we have been maliciously frozen by a payment company called Flutterwave.

“This payment company maliciously froze our funds, and intends to take the funds as their own and extort us by cooperating with the local police. 86fb have never yielded as we have been trying our best to protect the rights and interests of every user, but the other party has a strong background in Nigeria, we cannot fight against it, so now 86fb cannot withdraw money normally”.

“For everyone’s funds, and for the dignity of 86fb, we will not bow to this force. On behalf of 86fb, I implore you all to join me in fighting against Flutterwave unreasonable freezing of funds. I hope you can help us get justice.”
The platform, however, promised investors that it will pay investors as soon as Flutterwave refunds all of the funds it froze.

It said, “If the money is to be returned, 86fb will pay all users’ funds as soon as possible!
“At present, we have received feedback from many members that they have to get their own money when they find Flutterwave, so the platform recommends everyone to go to the Flutterwave payment company to get back their own funds!”

What you should know
Nairametrics had earlier reported how Nigerians were reacting to the possible crash of 86FB investment platform.

The platform says it runs a hedge fund arbitrage method that combines finance and conceptual science to earn stable returns with extremely low risk in sports gambling.

Isn't this the same format of these Ponzi guys saying their bankers have frozen their accounts and then leaving investors hanging? Just that this one seems like a legitimate freeze for them to call flutterwave out like this.

Anyways, for me and my family, we won't be involved in any online investment ever again. Not after what my eyes saw last year with almost 3m going into thin air.

Lol. Most Nigerians claim to be wise but when it comes to ponzi investments, their brains go offline. 86FB scam has come with similar narrative as others. Chinmark blamed SEC, Bara Investment accused CBN.

But trust me, another ponzi will soon emerge and people will still donate generously to them.

Another Ponzi scheme that has duped Nigerians who will never learn giving the usual excuse to buy time before disappearing into oblivion.

Whenever I hear the word "INVESTMENT" in Nigeria the first thing that comes to my mind is 419 and scammers have arrived with a new format, after that I will start doing my own research on the scheme if it's truly what it portrays and not the sweet stories by the promoters about how a man in Surulere started with N10k on the investment and today he owns a private jet sad

Whether this platform is real or not, I cannot tell. Same as I cannot validate their claims about Flutterwave.

But one thing I think is that SOME of these platforms POSSIBLY start with genuine intentions having just a few persons or "investors", then they get overconfident and accept more and more "investors" thus making their systems unsustainable. And one major challenge they have is the percentage ROI that they promise investors and time frame to pay such.

For any platform with a clear road map and genuine long-term intentions to stay in business, I believe that the ROI would not be outrageous, and then there should be a time when they close registrations and quit accepting new "investors", manage the few they have and sustain the business. Or at least, promise a very sustainable interest and within a long time frame.

But money corrupts man. Money and power.
In majority of cases, they see large chunks of money reeling in, then their minds get corrupted. And then it gradually becomes ponzi, accepting money from new members to pay old ones.
At some point, a shock is sent into the system when an inbalance between old and new investors come into play.

On the other hand, there is also a possibility that some investment platforms deliberately set out to scam people. They have no genuine intentions but start the business with a plan to get away with people's money.

The sad thing about all of this is that people WILL NEVER stop patronizing these platforms, even if they can see glaring red flags.

And then most investment platforms have the same pattern of excuses to give to investors once operations start heading south for them.

I know someone who once told me that he had just heard about a new investment platform, and that he already invested so he could cash out before it crashes. This is someone who had lost money in two previous investment platforms.
This is the case with a lot of people!

I could be wrong, but these are just my thoughts.
