Barely a week ago, Salah was playing a pass through his legs to set up Mane.

Good player but he can’t be better than Kounde as opined by Amoto and some other guys here. Villarreal play with a low block, so most of his vulnerabilities are obscured.

He’s a tad slow and would struggle in the PL.

I’ll rather go for Gvardiol to fill in for Rudiger over Pau.

Spot on. That Gvardiol looks decent and I believe he can bring calmness to that backline. Having him and Kounde will be good replacements for Christensen and Rudiger.

Spanish Center back most times have never worked in epl.
I heard Abra is asking for his loan money.

Laporte is working in the epl

Eric Garcia did well with few starts after the COVID 19 break when pep gave him some game time

The best Spanish CB have not really played at the epl though

Chelsea needs an experienced CB, not these developing overhyped amateurs from other leagues.

Marquinhos, Koulibaly, De Vrij and co

Scout for experienced defenders

I thought experience doesnt count,as far they are young they are OK by you even though they might be stupid .But on a more serious note I think that Torino defender might be good also although I haven't watched him before but alot of people who have seen him play say he is good.

By experienced players I don’t mean 35+, I don’t mean finished 37 years old defenders, I don’t mean Chelsea signing Vidic, Puyol or Maldini because of experience.

I mean 26-30 agile defenders who are performing and balling hard at big stage.

Torino Bremer is actually a nobody to me, I’ve not watched him.

I’m hearing that Roman Abramovich now wants his £1.6bn loan paid back as TimesSport is reporting. UK Govt have always insisted this can’t happen.

Clock is ticking on May 31st deadline but it’s more serious than a complex delay.

The Premier League meet on June 8th to constitute the new league for 22-23. If Chelsea aren’t licensed to operate by then - and they are only licensed now on UK Govt sufferance - then they can’t be part of PL.

We have an existential problem in our hands.

Make them kuku dissolve the club, I'm tired of this frauds

Spot on. That Gvardiol looks decent and I believe he can bring calmness to that backline. Having him and Kounde will be good replacements for Christensen and Rudiger.

Few assessments:

1. Progressive Carries (moving the ball 5 yards forward in the final two-thirds of the pitch).

Gvardiol (5.40 per 90 minutes).
Rudiger (5.39)
Torres (5.18)

2. Dribbles Attempted

Torres (1.1 per 90)
Gvardiol (1.31)
Rudiger (0.31)

3. Passing

Torres (86.8%)
Gvardiol (84%)
Rudiger (88.3%).

4. Progressive Passes (passes that move the ball 10 yards forward in the final two-thirds of the pitch).

Gvardiol (5.2 per 90 mins)
Torres (4.69)
Rudiger (4.96)

5. Error Leading To Shot

Torres has made two errors leading to shots, while mistakes from Gvardiol have only led to one shot. Rudiger has made two errors himself this campaign.

6. Tackles And Interceptions

Gvardiol - 5.4 per 90 minutes
Torres - 2.69 per 90
Rudiger - 2.92 per 90

7. Aerial Duels

Torres - 65.6%
Gvardiol - 59.1%.
Rudiger - 69.5%

Statistically, where Pau has an edge over Gvardiol is aerial duels won. Bar that, the Croat be senior man.

Here’s a City fan agreeing with me on Pau.

Those atm guys Hermoso and Giminez who are playing for a defensive manager Simeon.

No kind of defensive pattern they haven’t mastered, why not go for one of them.

Experienced agile and brutal defenders choke, na fragile players Chelsea go dey try link up with.

I don’t know about you, but the quality of football that’s been delivered in the Bundesliga over the past 3 seasons surmounts whatever they’re dishing out in Spain.

If still in doubt, go make enquiries from Barcelona about their recent trip to Frankfurt.

So yes, I’ll have Gvardiol over Pau. Thank you!

I don’t rate Pau, so don’t think questioning Gvardiol was because of Pau.

I’m only concerned of the recent experience we’ve had with Bundesliga players.

Yeah, speak of Baba Rahman, Werner and Havertz and the hype that surrounded their acquisitions.

I’ve been following Liepzig’s games ever since Gvardiol, Nkunku and Andre Silva were mentioned to me by a friend who I play SM with.

Under Tedesco, Gvardiol has shown that he can flourish both in a strict man-to-man marking style and a zonal one - this sees them defend not only high up the pitch but also in a mid or low-block.

Their formation varies from a 5-3-2 to 3-4-3 and in both of them, the team can use the same pressing movements, and he (Gvardiol) thrives in both.

This is where my attention is - Gvardiol team’s style of play and how it corresponds with the demands of Tuchel-ball, not the league itself.

Tuchel-ball? What style of play is Tuchel-ball?

I’ve watched clips of Gvardiol, he’s very very offensive like he’s a midfielder, and that’s what you get from defenders who play in a league where “High-line” is the only way they play.

Next excuse that might come up later is that “He’s a high line” kind of player that’s why he didn’t perform. Same thing people are saying about Werner not being able to thrive well against EPL low block defenders.
