Russia has taking bits of territory from Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the past, with all soviet states too fearful of confronting Russia.
This is the first time a "junior" soviet state will stand up to russia and go head to head with it and put up a credible defence that has caused russia significant loss

When this war is done, other soviet states would fancy their chance going against RUssia.
