you have to understand that many men have misplaced egos thus they will always look down on a single mother because they will always believe that they are competing for her love with that child, not understanding that its two different things. some would even tell you that this woman will always love and/or go back to baby daddy bla bla bla (how insecure is that?)... also, i wont even talk on theo ones whose ego is so bruised, they only see her child as a confirmation that she had a life before she met them.

the issue of single mothers is very simple... if you have no problem with it, then meet them and enjoy your life with her....and if you have a problem with it, then dont date/marry single mothers, et voila!

a woman with a child shouldnt be an issue, unless that woman is a bad person....sadly, many people will automatically view a single mother as a bad person, while many others wont/dont, and will instead judge that woman on the go or her character. some single mothers are fantastic women who became single mothers because of a bad union, a death and/or an accident. you cant possibly judge a woman negatively on the sole act of having a child unmarried (unless of course, you are one of them religious holier than thou hypocrites who forgot that even JESUS mother was a single mother, lol!)

i understand what you mean and your "preferences, but just because YOUR EGO IS MISPLACED, doesnt mean they are different. the sole reason that you look down on one and not the other, is because another man is still alive aka in the picture. why should that be a problem to you? its not like you are gonna adopt the child and make it your own. you are dating THE MOTHER and this child already has a father and doesnt need a new one. just focus on your woman etc and basta. yes, you may spend a little money on the child, big deal, so what?! its a small price to pay for having a happy family.

My current girlfriend was my childhood friend in primary school before we lost contact after our FSLS.

That's the angle, people experience a lot no need to write-off someone that God has created.

If you must date a single mother or marry one, make sure that you know the circumstances very well and know someone close to her e.g meeting through a common friend, colleague or relative.
I say this because, for many single ladies with children, their morale is low and it is generally believed that it is hard to find a responsible man that would want them with their baggage and hence the need to try whatever it takes to keep one and hook one even if pretext is needed.
On the other hand, many single mothers have good personalities but the baggage is the issue. Imagine a single mother who does not earn an income and still expecting a man to feed her and someone else’s child. The child’s father may be in the picture and cause a lot of interference even if a romance is over btw him and the mother. Even biological children are hard to raise but an adopted child may make things more complicated in decision making.
In theory, a widow seems more attractive than a single mother that was not married to the father of her child but practically, it may not be that simple. The widow also has a lot more baggage than the single unmarried mother.
Anyway, marriage is not for the faint hearted and having a blended family requires much more maturity and wisdom to engage in.

Well, I'll have you know that she was betrothed and in the Jewish tradition being betrothed is considered married.
