You do understand "mulatto" is a pejorative, a derogatory word. From racists who believed the offspring of a black and white person was like a "mule." Mules (offspring of a horse and donkey) are sterile. Racists believed the child of a black and white person would be sterile, infertile. hence "mulatto."
