I don already talk am, people living in Abuja and neighboring villages/towns are about to witness an upsurge in crime going forward . Nigerian prisons are not in any way correctional , Nigerian prison turns petty thieves to hardened criminals when they get out.

Just like afrodoc said , the escaped prisoners will not lodge in hotels and abstain from crime ; rather they will go back to criminal ways and people in Abuja and it’s environs will beat the brunt .

I know nihilistjnr is a wise man , person wey enter South south with security convoy no go do mistake carry him family enter Abuja in the middle of a man hunt for escaped prisoners that’s not yielded much result .

Person say Lagos na abia state with better PR. grin grin pictures I'm seeing coming from Lagos state this week has been dreadful to say the least. I saw a video of an SUV being swept in the flood. I saw a video of a crocodile inside somebody's house. I saw another video of somebody swimming in the flood.

Truly, the ordinary citizens of Lagos suffer just as more if not worse than other Nigerians.

Can these Tinubu supporters tell us what lagosians benefit more than other Nigerians?

While I would agree with you that drainages are a problem here, the intensity of the rain these few days was much abeg

Even if the whole roads were drainages, there would still be flood

The rains started heavily from 11am on Friday and stopped around 4pm. Then yesterday, it rained from morning till evening (Non-stop).

I don't think the floods these last two days was inevitable. It was heavy oh

Nah. If the drainages weren’t blocked by either trash or buildings, no heavy downpour would result in 6ft floods as we see in Lagos.

Floods happen even in European countries and the USA.

Are you saying the drainages were blocked?

I don't want to be ashamed of you, are you trying to justify the lack of proper drainage system in Africa's biggest city? Is this not evidence of poor planning?
I brought this here because of those who have been trying to paint Lagos as a shining light of Nigeria and product of Tinubu when Lagos is indeed a glorified slum and no different from many other places.

These floods are happening because of very poor drainage system and management. Simple. Floods happen everywhere but they are so many factors that mitigate them.

Moslem-moslem ticket in a country of 100 million christians.

Who wants to bet that Peter Obi has secured at least 7 million votes just with this decision alone?

At a time where a girl was killed for religious reasons.
At a time where priests and pastors are being kidnapped and killed daily.
At a time where a massacre occured in a church due to an ongoing insecurity crises in the country.

The religious tension is very palpable and then you go ahead and sideline all the christians in the country.
The APC is dead in the water.

I don't understand the bolded. What would your recommendation or reproach add to my life?

Now back to the topic. I did not say drainages are okay. I agreed with you.

But I also made it clear to you that the downpour was heavy enough to cause a flood.

I was at Ikotun on Friday and the flood was up to my knee. Immediately the rains stopped, it didn't take up to 20 minutes and the water had disappeared. So did the government clear the drainages in 19 minutes?

Learn to see things objectively. That downpour was too heavy

I said that because you sounded like you are justifying the absence of a good drainage system in Lagos. Anyways, let's move past it. I'm just saying that bad governance is affecting us all in Nigeria. Lagos is not better than any place in Nigeria.

In the USA, floods only occur after hurricanes or tropical storms, which are 100x greater than regular heavy downpours.
A mere heavy downpour won’t lead to flooded streets. At worst, a downpour would cause 3-inch ‘floods’ in the US.

Yes, a good number of drains in Lagos and Naija, in general, are being blocked by the factors I stated in my earlier post. That’s why Soludo had to demolish that church cos it was obstructing the flow of the drains

Okay, at least you agree that a downpour can cause floods irrespective of how good the drainage system is.

Now, I am not saying the drainages are okay, but I am telling you the downpour was heavy enough to cause a flood, which you also agree to.

This is factually incorrect.

There are numerous cases of flooding in the USA and other developed Western countries due to heavy rainfall without hurricanes or tropical storms.

Drainage in Lagos is not good and would definitely worsen the situation, but these things happen in some of the most developed countries on earth.

i am not so sure it is the drainage that is not good, or people and LGAs are irresponsible

everyday i see fooking ediats in expensive cars throwing pet bottles onto the road

i live in festac which was buolt with proper drains which channel into a canal - but check during every heavy rain, and you will see arterial drains literally clogged with PET bottles, styrofoams packs and other debris

who is to blame? the people who throw rubbish indiscriminately, and teh local government who will always be running round looking for shakedown money, but cannot be bothered to clear the drains

the whole okota ago palace-way axis has drains that are full of silt and sludge and gunk during the dry season. any body can see what would happen once it rains. yet the bloody local govt will do nothing

yes there are parts of lagos with bad drainage. but there are also several parts of lagos with irresponsible citizens and LGA chairmen
