That is why Nigeria can never be great..just one section and a state parading as the economic of Nigeria...2moro some bastards will say, leave lagos and go to ur state...Nigeria as a whole need to be decentralised..

But this is a vision of one man and Lagos State Govt. What is your State Govt doing? Don't they have foresight?

LEKKI Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), the much celebrated multi-billion dollars bilateral business venture between Lagos State and the Chinese Investors has kicked off, with President Olusegun Obasanjo describing Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State as "a brilliant governor with brilliant ideas".

The LFTZ cited in Ibeju-Lekki local government area of the state, according to its managers, would occupy 1,000 hectares of land employing over 300,000 as workers on completion.

It's not a federal project.

And most Federal projects are directed towards Abuja.
apart from that I have come to realize that most FG projects are in Lagos... Like Port Harcourt now the only FG project is east west road. Akwa ibom and cross Rivers no project.. the entire south east is 2rd river niger bridge. 70% of states have no FG projects going on there but if you come to Lagos they are thousands of FG projects there.. why is it so?

Good news. They should start operations immediately.

I hope trucks wouldn't have to come from mainland through Lekki - Ajah Expressway to access the seaport because that corridor will be turned into another Apapa nightmare.

The highly politicized Forth Mainland Bridge will be critical at this time. FG should assist LASG to actualize that long-awaited project.

The one at vgc is long over due not to talk of the 4th mainland bridge. Hopefully, they'll act fast and with anticipation for future growth as people pour into Lag on a daily.

Trucks will follow epe exit to sagamu express way from there you can access any part of Nigeria. Everything is worked out already by brilliant tinubu. Our only fear is Muslim muslim ticket. But tinubu is a blessing to Nigeria and the truth is that atiku and obi knows that tinubu is better than both of them put together
you don't hqve sense, it wasn't done by tinubu, the so called road is very narrow, with the intended economical and industrial expansion. The truck lane is narrow they break down easily so expect more gridlock. They did not envisage alot of things.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode built the Lagos end of the Epe-Ijebu Expressway and Governor Dapo Abiodun built the Ogun end. The Ogun end of the expressway will be tolled. Trucks from the new Lekki Industrial Area will use this expressway (along with other expressways) to move goods from Lekki to the hinterland of Nigeria.

This morning, we received His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR as he commissioned one of our legacy projects, the 14-kilometre Ijebu-Ode-Mojoda-Epe Road in Ogun State.

Ambode only built Ajah Fly-Over...He did not add a Kilometer of work to Lekki- Epe expresway of the work day by Fashola. What he worked on was Epe township roads. It is Sanwo- Olu building the road from Akodo Eleko to Epe

That is precisely the point. It is not the only major road leading to the Lekki Free Trade Zone. In fact, most of the goods from the Free Trade Zone will not use that road. See my previous reply above and watch out for the articles that I will post.

This your first paragraph is just a dirty lie since the Ijebu- Epe Road doesn't even lead directly to the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

If you want to dispute that go and check your map and post the screenshot here.

All traffic will have to pass through the Lekki Epe expressway to get to Eleko then the Lekki FTZ

You talked about roads in Ikorodu and Ondo state that are being constructed meaning the roads aren't passable but you want us to think they are, because everyone on nairaland is an olodo apparently.

Don't worry when those of us who ply the Lekki-Epe expressway talk about traffic you will send us articles that will cut the 3 hour driving time down to 30 minutes.

...as a custom port? I thought the Lekki Deep Sea Port is part of the Lekki FREE Trade arrangement . This development seem to be at variance with the intention of the concievers of this project. I am shocked to read that the port is being approved as a revenue generating project.

This was one of the things that Governor Fashola discussed early in the life of the project. He said that goods will also be moved by barges on the Lagos Lagoon (via Epe). The Federal Government also had to adopt this option to reduce congestion at Apapa. Some containers at the Apapa Port were also moved by barges to Ikorodu and Epe.

Barges to evacuate containers from ports to Epe soon

Arrangements have been concluded to extend the use of barges to evacuate containers from the ports beyond Ikorodu to Epe soon.To this end, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with APM Capital to adopt barges as part of the plans to relief importers of the Apapa gridlock.

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority Hadiza Bala Usman, who confirmed this during a meeting with a team from AP Moller Capital, said the problem of Apapa access road seems intractable because of decade long decadence which was caused by multiplicity of problems.

Usman recalled that NPA had made several efforts including contributing ₦1.8 billion to rehabilitate the road at a time as well also coming up with “call up system”, which would soon be upgraded to be electronically operated. She assured that NPA would continue to consult with stakeholders across all levels, since the provision of infrastructure is crucial for sustainable ports operations.

Senior Investment Advisor of APM Capital, Fleming Dalgaard, assured on the construction of a jetty and truck park to facilitate the movement of cargo with barges from the port, adding that they would provide technical capital, competence experience, financial capacity and other required resources. Dalgaard commended openness of NPA adding that such transparency and efficiency were part of the quality that excite them to come forward for signing the agreement.

The agreement stipulated that: “NPA in realization of the fact that the provision of infrastructure is crucial for sustainable operation of ports has continued to pursue a programme of infrastructural investments.“The NPA and APMC entered discussions and have agreed to find a lasting solution to the traffic situation in and around the ports, there is a need to provide the level of required infrastructure.

“APMC has indicated their interest, technical capacity, competence, experience, financial capacity and other required resources to execute or cause the project required resources to execute or cause the project required for the attainment of item two above.

“The project that are currently being contemplated include the construction of a jetty and truck park to facilitate the movement of cargo by barge from the ports. APMC understands that some associates investments like construction of truck holding bays maybe required to support the option in item four above.

“APMC intends to commit financial and human resources to further explore these solutions even though the exact nature of infrastructure to be provided may differ from the option currently being envisage in the course of further studies and time spent on the project”.

Random: I saw this barge moving containers on the Lagos Lagoon a week ago. Like 6 containers - which is the equivalent of 6 trucks (or 3, if 40ft) taken off the roads no?

1) I was responding to Smart Politician who said that they had to build the 4th Mainland Bridge which will go through Ajah otherwise trucks will congest the Lekki Expressway. The junction to Epe is way before Ajah and therefore, trucks will pass through Epe without having to go through Ajah. Or are you trying to insist that trucks will have to pass through Ajah and Abraham Adesanya??

2) The Lagos State Government and the Dangote Group are right now building an expressway through Magbon and Alade. All trucks will not have to go through Eleko Junction.

3) What the hell are you talking about?? Do you think you are the only one that lives in Lekki?? I live in Lekki and I know what I am talking about!

4) Besides, the section from Eleko to Epe T junction has been reconstructed to include a truck lane and provision for the green rail line.

Which Island Axis ? I just discovered that you are ignoramus of the topic of discussion...

Lagos Island?
Victoria Island?
Ikoyi?
Lekki Peninsula?
Ajah?
Ibeju-Lekki?
Akodo-Eleko-Lekki?
Epe?

Where do you know and where is Lekki Free Trade Zone located?

You better stop disgracing yourself on public forum.

Is Lekki free trade zone not in Ibeju?
From Sangotedo to Ikoyi alone will take you about 3 hours on a normal day.
Lekki-Epe axis has the worst traffic in Lagos if you ask me.
Now combine that with the fact that the Port will soon start functioning. That'll be real hell.
