Nvestor02:
The presidential ambition of the former governor of Anambra is one of the most talked about in the country. Many people have already been mobilizing for him ahead of the coming election, especially the youths.

However, according to the Nigerian constitution, the election cannot be won with the vote of a single region at all. A person must have 25% of the vote in at least 24 states out of the 36 that we have.

This shows that at least Peter Obi will need to get a huge vote in the North and the South West before his ambition to be president can come to pass.

However, this question is: Can Peter Obi get 25% of the votes in the South West and North?

To begin with, both the South West and the North are home to the presidential candidates of the two major parties, the APC and the PDP, and as a result, this region may not be fertile for Peter Obi.

Apart from that, the party of Peter Obi's Labour Party is almost a new face to many people, and it would be hard for the party to gather large percent of votes in these two regions where both APC and PDP have members in almost all households that exist there.

The last election in Osun and Ekiti shows that the Labour Party has no strong stand in the South West because even with the presence of Peter Obi in Osun state to campaign for the governorship candidate of the state, Lasun Yusuf, the Labour Party still comes far behind both APC and PDP, who have multiple thousand votes.

Because of the fact that the Labour Party of Peter Obi has a low presence in both regions and because they are mostly unknown to the elderly and middle-aged people who mostly vote during elections, we can stand by the conclusion that Peter Obi may not be able to see 25% of the votes in both regions.
Seun and Mynd44

Why are posts with obvious tribal sentiments like these pushed to the front page.

Is this how you guys intend to run Nairaland?

This is too bad, why should the biafran flag as well as picture of a crying man wearing an Igbo cap be appended to this post and pushed to the front page. People used to say the forum is run by tribalists, I always doubt but now I'm beginning to see reasons to believe them.

Mr. Seun this us shameful

Guys, why don't you focus on your candidate and let Obi be. If Obi is not going to win the election, then why are you guys from the opposition always talking about him?.Just take a look at the PDP candidate in Lagos .The guy is a small fish to fry ,that is why Sanwolu is it not losing any sleep or breaking any sweat over his emergance as an opponent.Just imagin if it was Ambode that joined the PDP party and becomes the flag bearer for the PDP gubernatorial candidate.. Do u think Sanwolu won't be running from Pilar to post at the moment to ensure people don't cast thier for Ambode?
So, if PO is just wasting his time contesting for president under the LP and you believe he will loose the election, then why are you all from the opposition having sleepless night over his case ? You should be happy. You should instead focus your attention on promoting your candidate even better.
For the first time ,APC & PDP have a common enemy to battle with. They have put aside thier hatred between both parties and are now focusing on thier common enemy-PO from the LP. Why ? Since you know he does not stand a chance, then why talk about him all the time ?

Patriotic Nigerians, those whose brains are still functioning and those who haven't signed a lifetime contract with suffering will vote for him...

Those whose brain is still functioning well will not forget in a hurry how Nigeria is called a ZOO.
How Hausa/Fulani are demonized and insulted every single day.
How the only wise people are Ipod, etc.

People that have brain knows exactly who to votes when the day comes.

Peter Obi will get

95 percent votes in SE
80 percent votes in SS
45 percent votes in SW
60 percent votes in NC
15 percent votes in NE
10 percent votes in NW

While no other candidate will be able to secure 55 percent in any region.

Obi is the incoming.
45 in Sw sad shocked
Wondering where u got this analysis from
SW is much more bigger than u imagine
And apart from.lagos which is of course so ethically diverse and rather Cosmopolitan the about 6,7 core sw states barely has no history of LP(safe ondo)
It's not even heard around
45 percent is exaggerated

Who will do the voting?

50% of PDP votes in 2019 in whole of south are going to LP this time. I can't say the same about the north. but I'm very certain that even 10% of APC votes in the south in 2019 are also going to LP this time. This election will be very tight. One can hardly predict the outcome

Funny and trashy write up especially this portion. The electoral umpire INEC has released their data for registered electorates and not only are the large percentage of the newly registered electorates youths, but they make up a whooping 71% of all registered voters. But for some reasons you guys are bent on turning those facts on its head everytime with the "only old people vote" narratives. On a second thought, glad the discussions have now left does he have structures to can he meet the required 25%. February is still a long way, by then he'll finally answer all Nigerians if he can.

Is Obi a youth?

Guy, let it sink in again and again
Tinubu if not old might be the best aspirants and igbos will vote for him as we did for Obj and we didn't regret it. As it stands now, Peter Obi beats your Tinubu hands down and will be the best choice to propell this dying country forward.
He is our president come 2023,quote me after the election.
