Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, says the federal government has released N6.25 billion for the establishment of cattle ranches in local government areas affected by banditry in the state.

Yakubu, also Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, disclosed this during the Ranch Stakeholders Development Meeting in Katsina on Monday.

He said that the frontline local government areas where grazing reserves would be established were Jibia, Batsari, Dutsinma, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari and Sabuwa Dandume among others.

He said part of the funds would be used to construct schools, health centres and veterinary clinics in the affected communities.

The deputy governor said that the state government would engage reputable contractors to handle the projects.

He said the federal and the state governments were determined to ensure that peace and stability were restored in areas affected by banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and other criminalities.

"We are therefore soliciting for the support and cooperation of the affected communities to provide suitable sites for the execution of these projects,” Yakubu said.(NAN)

No matter the wads of cash dedicated to education in the Katsina especially, it will be a waste. Despite all we gave to ensure their pupils come out in flying colors, they came robbing us of our valuables one night like that with well-sharpened cutlasses. Awon werrey.

My God!!!

There are more important issues bedeviling this country, like ASUU strike and yet this same government cares more over animals, than humans.

I am sorry to say this and don't want to mix words together, Hausa/Fulani keeps fighting over power that they cannot manage.

I don't see Nigeria getting any better in the next 100yrs.

Spending Nigeria money on RUGA? Bandits and terrorists don chop free money. Meanwhile, ASUU is still on strike, the economic is still contracting while these bastards are looking for another 11T to borrow and fund 2023 budget right?

Billions everywhere. At the end, you won't find the ranch anywhere.

Besides, the herdsmen enjoy nomadic style of cattle rearing instead of ranching. RUGA comes to mind.

Dem don dey get sense small small. I thought Buhari was more interested in the grazing routes. Who would give up their lands for the marauders to finish up their people?

Northern states should have ranches and any Fulani herder seen moving about with cows - whether in the forest or not - should be arrested and made to forfeit their cows.

The title of this post is quite misleading.

In any case, having an ex general as a president would have instilled fear in the mind of terrorists, bandits and unknown gunmen.

But sadly they flourish under this administration. And what they want is to add an update to the pain the masses suffer on the person of BAT.

All this nonesense projects like 6.25 billion naira for cattle ranches, that most of it would even be stolen, train to Niger, how many Nigerians would like to travel to Niger, or do business in niger. After borrowing trillions and wasting it on nonesense, they will still think of borrowing more.

We need thinking leaders, this mumu mumu people can't even think of simple 18th century logics, talkless complex 21st century solutions.

US are china are always trying to produce billionaires every year, chai what a country, stupid Nigerians are busy shouting APC, PDP, LP, Obidient, Batified, Atikulated.

Chai Chai Chai Chai

Federal government prioritize ranching for cows more than education, let's not forget that ASUU is still on strike. Students are at home. What an abnormally! This administration is the worst so far.

They’re borrowing 11trillion to fund budget. They’re giving Katsina cows 6 billion of it.
Cows are more important than students
Some people will still come here to argue and insult us for not wanting anything to do with APC. You’re on your own.
