To the the commenter above, you can't subject Nigerian police to the method of foreign police that you claim to have seen on you tube. The police in Europe or America have more operational options in this sort of situation. They can radio for support & within minutes, additional police personnel will arrive at the scene, with a tow vehicle not far behind. Nigerian police simply don't have these options. They could have arrested this musician, take him to the station in their own car, and left his car at the scene until the next day. However, this could result in serious traffic in the morning. Worse still, the car could be stolen overnight, resulting in multi million naira liability for the police. If they arrest the guy, and drive his car to the station themselves, you people will call them unprofessional and oppressive. Also, what happens if there's an accident while the police are driving his car? So, really, the police is left to take the less-than-ideal but reasonable option of mandating the guy to drive them in his car to the station where he can be properly 'processed.' Nigerian law doesn't forbid the police from proceeding in this manner. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Well, iceprince is actually right. Nigerian police cannot be trusted. This is actually how they get to kidnap people and demand for ransom. If you fail to pay you'd likely be killed and your body dumped in a river somewhere. 1 Like |

Originalsly: I'm not sure police in Western Europe will drive your car if you're arrested. Thy will probably call a tow vehicle. If they drive your car, that would be because the police as an institution has necessary insurance or they have the resources to pay for any damage to the vehicle while it is in their control. Nigerian police neither have such insurance nor the resources to promptly compensate in the event of an accident. So they'd let you drive while they sit next to you. You can't compare Nigerian police to their Western European counterparts. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Funny how the officer has come to call a citizen a fool over an issue he should know better about. Paul Okoye is 100% right. Whether in Nigeria or elsewhere, Paul is right. A lot of us are here today castigating him because we are so used to travesty of justice that we now confuse right for wrong. No one has heard Ice Prince's side of the story. I know some celebrities like to behave like demigods but at least based on the story told by the police themselves, any lawyer with his onions intact straight out of law school would make an incorruptible judge strike out the case, with possible reparations required from the police. We better stop reducing this country to a jungle. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

rusher14:abroad is broad so which abroad are you referring to. No police officer will enter your car in Europe or America. They will ask you to get out of the car. If you don't have a license, the car will be impounded there and then. So that police PR that have sense should explain why the officer entered the car. |

A lot of people grand-standing! Fact is that we have a very unprofessional, poorly-trained police “force”. On this occasion, ice -Prince was wrong to drive with no plates but what of the numerous instances when people are stopped and harassed for no reason by the police? All these twitter police officers sit in their offices with their twitter fingers pretending they do not know that the police men on beat are a big menace to society! 2 Likes 1 Share |
