In his latest public delivery of incoherence, Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 elections, says Nigerians against borrowings by the Buhari regime should stop using Mercedes Benz and Lexus brands of vehicles.

Mr Tinubu made the assertion during the presentation of campaign manifestation on Friday in Abuja without providing context or rationale for his charge.

“I stand before you proudly, noting that those who are afraid of the budget, the thoughts of borrowing. Yes, borrowing. If borrowing is a crime, the entire America should be in jail. If borrowing is a crime, stop using Mercedes Benz and Lexus,” Mr Tinubu declared.

Listeners were left in quandary as to the correlation between usage of particular brands of vehicles and concerns for ballooning national debts

The former Lagos governor has been under scrutiny for his mental alertness and general healthiness as he struggles with his frail physicality.

Recently, he has made some incoherent references which have further raised concerns among his watchers, who fear the 70-year-old may be showing signs of dementia.

Last week, Mr Tinubu caused a stir when he said Kaduna Governor Nasir El-rufai’s vision, creativity and resilience in turning “a rotten situation into a bad one” is necessary for the incoming administration.

At another function in Kaduna, when asked how his administration would tackle climate change as being championed by the West, Mr Tinubu answered by saying: “Climate change is a question of how do you prevent a church rat from eating a poisoned Holy Communion.”

In one of his recent public engagements, Mr Tinubu admitted that his handlers had warned him not to speak outside his written script, in an apparent move to curtail his slew of gaffes.

Meanwhile, I think he wanted to say govt officials should stop using official Benz and BMW. Cos reduction in cost of governance is one of the best things to quickly do to sanitise Nigeria. When the political offices are less attractive, people ll go there to only serve and not to make money. Also, Nigeria ll be spending less on salaries of political appointees or elected ones unlike how it's high presently.

Is mercedes benz or lexus produced in Nigeria? No! While you buy this vehicles you're not helping Nigeria and Nigerians.... How many Nigerians are patronizing locally made cars? In everything we prefer imported, yet we say the economy is not doing well, dollar is going up.. and then you have a presidential aspirant that said he will lift all restrictions on importation turning Nigeria to a dumping site.

To real Nigerians as you listen to these politicians during these election period. Critically analyze their depth by what they say and also scrutinize their past record, that way chances of voting a dullard is slim.

He has made elders that have remained loyal to him years after years, if you are into trade or doing yahoo you are not going to understand that Nigeria has some real problem but if you have worked in a factory or have ever tried to work in a factory you will understand, people make 18k a month in this country, why? He said if borrowing is a crime, then America will be in jail (since they've got debt too). He also said if borrowing is a crime, people should stop using Lexus etc (which are not from Nigeria of course).
