Was Tinubu Ever Involved In Drug Business? New Allegation Dead As A Dodo.

NOVEMBER 8, 2022

The Tinubu traducers on Tuesday returned to their usual campaign of calumny, this time waking up the carcass of a drug allegation in America that was buried in 1993.

Long after the campaign failed in 2003, it resurfaced weeks to the primary election of the All Progressives Congress. The opponents thought it was lethal enough to make the APC disqualify Tinubu from the race.

It failed spectacularly and Tinubu went on to win the primary with a landslide.

The muckrakers are back again with the same story, dressed as ‘certified true copy’ from the U.S. Court.

The campaign’s media and publicity director, Bayo Onanuga had perused the new document and dismissed it as the same old tale.

“It is as dead as a dodo”, Onanuga told a news medium on Tuesday and made reference to a section of the campaign’s FAQ’s manual.

Please read:

One of the unconscionable and wicked lies peddled by political opponents about Bola Ahmed Tinubu was to paint him erroneously as a drug baron.

The accusation arose out of an investigation by FBI agent Kevin Moss of Tinubu and Compass Investment and Finance accounts at First Heritage Bank and Citi- Bank in the U.S.

On January 10, 1992, Mr Kevin Moss requested and obtained a court order to freeze the accounts.

On January 13, 1992, Mr Moss telephoned Tinubu in Nigeria to justify the amounts in the accounts, running into $1.4 million. Part of the money was said to have been deposited by two Nigerians, being investigated for drug offences.

After the telephone conversation, Tinubu instructed his lawyer in the US to file
a lawsuit against the order freezing his accounts.

This dragged on till 15 September 1993, when an agreement was reached for an out of court settlement. Judge John A Nordberg, of the US district court for the Northern District of Illinois, read out the agreement reached by the two parties. Part of the funds, $460,000 was seized by the government.

The FBI never charged Tinubu with any drug offence; the case did not go on trial. Tinubu was never convicted. And he was never barred from entering the United States.

In 2003, ten years after, when the PDP opponents wanted to use the shuttered allegation to disqualify Tinubu from running for a second term in Lagos, the Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun made an enquiry with the American Consulate on Tinubu’s status.

The Consulate gave Tinubu a clean bill in a reply by the Legal Attache, Michael H. Bonner.
The letter read:

“Our sincerest greetings to you and all of the law enforcement personnel in the Nigeria Police Force, whose continued assistance is very much appreciated. In relation to your letter, dated February 3, 2003, reference number SR. 3000/IGPSEC/ABJ/VOL. 24/287, regarding Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a records check of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Crime Information Centre (NCIC) was conducted.
“The results of the checks were negative for any criminal arrest records, wants,
or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (DOB 29 March 1952). For information of your department, NCIC is a very centralised information centre that maintains the records of every criminal arrest and conviction within the United States and its territories.”

Almost thirty years after the allegation was discharged and the case declared dead, Tinubu’s opponents keep waking up its corpse, in futile efforts to malign him.

Obviously, the released documents don't indict BAT. But it's common knowledge he's a very corrupt fellow who made his money using shady means.

The infamous Bullion Van drug lord who has Lagos State in his pockets. The amount of money he gets daily from the state is enough to change the life of the average Nigerian forever.

He's not worthy of holding the highest office in the land.

But this is Nigeria where the morally bankrupt and corrupt are celebrated and given awards, as exemplified by some so-called educated people here, who are a microcosm of the bigger macrocosm.

In a saner clime, people like BAT deserve serious public backlash and prosecution.

If BAT were a politician in a country like China, he for don die by death by hanging for years and his name will go down in history as one of the most corrupt politicians in the country.

That's why the Asian country is moving forward and Nigeria is retrogressing.

That makes BAT candidacy a bad one for us. You should be willing to live under his government if he's truly a good candidate.

I didn't mention Lagos in my post and Anambra isn't a country.

The last time I checked, Soludo is governor now, not Obi that left office 8 years ago and another leader has even served after him before Soludo.

Obi doesn't own Anambra State as well. No single person does.

We’ll still be having same people that arrested judges in power and let’s not forget the Ganduje’s that’ll join as ministers if he wins

Lagos is not Nigeria, if Tinubu wants second term… he’ll still have to appease the north and the big politicians there

If he was popular outside southwest, it would have been good but Tinubu knows he can’t get 2 million votes without asss kissing

You can say the same about Obi Tinubu Kwankwaso and Atiku they all have ruled at some time

Is Obi not looking to appease the North today? There is a reason why no Obi supporter is confident of placing a bet on him to get more votes than Tinubu

If you want a clean break from politicians then support Sowore and Moughalu

Hopeless amala turning. I guess before Tinubu, no governor ruled Lagos and did some good works that Tinubu's administration benefitted from.

Till tomorrow, Jakande will still be remembered in Lagos for his good works while as governor.

He built a good legacy for himself as a former governor of the state, unlike the drug baron.

Tinubu doesn't own Lagos, neither does Obi own Anambra.

This amala turning na failure

He's started painting the picture of an underdeveloped Lagos before Tinubu again. You're only twisting Lagos history in vain.

It's common knowledge Lagos has been a popular destination attracting many Nigerians even well before Tinubu's government.

Tinubu met an already developed Lagos State, a former capital of Nigeria that has also been the economic capital of the country before Tinubu came on board.

Lols. Raumdeuter is saying Lagos was underdeveloped before Tinubu.

SMH. The video doesn't prove anything. Before Tinubu, the pedigree of Lagos as a popular rural-urban migration destination is well-known.

Oshodi? Tinubu made Oshodi worse with his thugs.

Fashola cleaned up Oshodi, not Tinubu. Stop this misinformation, please. And Fashola's achievements in Lagos Island trump that of Tinubu by far.

Besides, Lagos has many areas, but you only mentioned just two to prove that Tinubu built Lagos.

Even those two are false. The simple truth is no single governor built Lagos, and the Lagos we see today is as a result of the joint effort of the past and present governors.

Also, Lagos isn't Tinubu's property.

The funny thing about the video is the photographer is are heaps of refuse, molue, failed portion of roads, traffic gridlock at oshodi caused by traders selling by road side etc.

What if I tell u most of those things are still very much present in Lagos today?

If u go to Idumota this morning u will meet a huge load of refuse in full glare shortly after descending the bridge. The only difference is that they provided a big container which it's being dumped into till it overflows. I saw refuse dump at egbeda the last time I was there as well.

People who go to Ikorodu from Oshodi or those who ply the oshodi-mile2 axis will tell you there are buses similar to the moline being pushed in the video plying those aforementioned route on a daily basis till today . Just that the buses are not painted yellow and black .

There are so many roads in Lagos today that can rival the roads shown in the video as bad.Descending Oshodi bridge inwards under bridge trended recently for a wide failed portion of the road( You can go there today it has still not been fixed ) . Iddo inward Carter bridge to Idumota get its own fair share of wide pothole. If u go to areas like ebute roadIkorodu u will see worse . It gets worse if u go to areas on the outskirts of Lagos like Abule Egba and it’s environs .

The good thing about Oshodi now is that the traffic is no longer being caused by traders at the road side selling but by vehicles loading pasengers on the road as allowed by agberos and cousins; the Lagos traffic task force .

Don’t take my word for it, anybody on ground can take a tour to verify these things . No be by putting up videos and adding enough sweet talk to it . Na those wey never reach Lagos before or wey never reach Lagos for a while all those cut and join videos go appeal to.

Lagos is sure still developing , but Lagos isn’t up there yet like it’s being painted to have become mini London .

Well, if u bring that angle I can surely agree with u. Lagos is ahead of other states in terms of development and it has always been so even before Tinubu. While Jakande was making some of our elderly relatives home owners in 1982-1984 , none of the other states were doing that .

The gap between Lagos and other states is widening.
In the 70s 80s and 90s many people will graduate and move to their home state. You will see people graduate from UK US and relocate to Ebonyi Ekiti Enugu or Osun. Nowadays that hardly happen. They will rather stay in Lagos.

In the last 20yrs other states have increasingly got worse and Lagos has gotten better which widens the gap and makes everyone flee to Lagos

Lagos is like the only state that makes sense nowadays amd other states have gotten worse due to insecurity and lack of economic opportunities. There are practically no jobs in places outside Lagos and PH beyond civil service jobs, hanging on to politics and hotel/Okada/lotto business/hookup/yahoo

You will never see me spare Oyo state and that's why I will praise and defend Lagos. Alao Akala who came from my hometown is one of the governors I hated the most.
All our states have failed and we are putting all the blame and pressure on Lagos instead of on our home governors who get a pass

Many indigenes of Kogi Abia Nasarawa etc will rather blame Lagos than face their home governor

It's like a child abandoned by his biological parents yet blaming his foster parent who picked him up from the street for not doing enough for him
