150k is only 200 dollars, no university in America will charge 200 dollars so Nigeria is still better than American when it comes to school fees

I once taught about this, but you're so wrong because you can't compare their standard of living to we in Nigeria here....... Convert #30,000 to a Dollar, is that what they collect as minimum wage in first world countries?

Those studying in abroad are really trying, their mentor earn in Naira and pay all their fees in Dollar, not an easy feat

Let's b a little realistic.
D old system produced many "educated illitrates" For example, dey manifest themselves here when dey curse indiscriminately n unnecessarily.

D purpose of education is defeated n d bad eggs chase employers n investors away. Even d govt is not confident in giving contracts to Nigerians.
Besides d country was training professionals (good ones) for western nations.
Let's try a different path.
What d SUGs need put forward n protest if necessary is school fees loans n better mortgage/ work studies e.t.c.

Those seeking free education can go to their pastors n church schools make we know how far.
Notwithstanding Buhari, APC n d system hv been a plague.

[/quote The needed change has started we need a government that would listen not a system that imposes on the masses Hw can u hike fees without consulting those who are meant to pay the truth is that Nigerians have learnt over the years to survive without the government needed support but right now it is unbearable

Inflation makes it hard to keep up with my savings goals.

Everything else is significantly more expensive.

No sector can escape the biting effect of apc buhari and osinbajo satanic administration

The only way for nigeria to have a breath of fresh air is to vote PDP

This burdens is too much for Nigerians

Do you best with your vote by voting against buhari promax called tinubu

Or the confusionist called obi

Something about minimum wage...it is the least amount that can be paid to a government worker, usually one starting at the lowest rung of the ladder.

While a lot of Nigerians earn N30000 a month, many Nigerians earn far more than that...and that includes a lot of people who send their kids to university.

Also, many if not most US citizens cannot afford their university fees out of pocket, unless you are very rich. (Even someone like Obama, he had to save large parts of his salary as president of the US just to get enough kudi for his daughters to attend Harvard and Columbia respectively...without taking loans). Many of them take loans. Loans. The loans that they will start paying back when they get a job. Add their heavy bills (one of my relatives in USA spends in one month on electricity bills for one bedroom flat in the US..what another of my relatives would spend in 4-5 months TO POWER his 5 bedroom house in Nigeria, assuming disco gives them light for 20 hours a day)...and their standard of living is almost similar to Nigerians, if a bit higher. Infact, if you are a US citizen, and you don't open a college savings account for your baby that was born last month...chances are you will be taking heavy loans to pay for your baby's college educaiton in 18 years time.

Or education, even with all this increase, is heavily subsidized.Even then, if we want better, fees have to go up.

Under PDP, my fees went up from N2000 in 1999 to N18000 in 2004....and by 2013, it was close to 100000-150000 in many universities.

The thing is, if you want low fees, PDP would have to Tax everyone in the country plus remove subsidy on petrol and power before we can get somewhere...and even then, fees may reach somwhere around 300000 naira self.

If you like vote rubbish candidate in this coming election because he's from your region.

If we vote for the candidate you like, there is nothing he can do.

Countries like Denmark that have free quality education also charge high taxes on all their citizens to pay for the free education. At rates of half their income per annum.

Nigerian leaders know what to do to guarantee free education. The thing is, it involves hardship along the way.

The time I take go school, I nor pay pass 7k as school fees. All this nor pass 12 yrs ago.
Where Nigeria dey go?

Was your school as good as the ones abroad? Did you have good facilities for 7k?

Once upon a time it was N2k even. And for the 2k I paid, I got substandard stuff.

If you want good education pay full price for the thing . Not one-eighth of one eighth of the price.

Una never see anything. When APC is done with this country, even going to a public school would be luxury by then.

Actually going to university shouldn't be for everyone. It should be a luxury

So because they paid expensive school fees now means they have quality education more than we that schooled 15-20 years ago abi ?
Unpon the exorbitant fees they pay these days, they are not still having the standard of education we had both in accedemics & in physical standard.
Lastly can you tell me when a Nigerian university made top 100 best university in the world.

Can they make best 100 university on fees of N7000 or even fees of N200000 , which is below 500 dollars a month.

Oga, universities cost money. A lot of money. If you want a top 100 university...then Nigerian universities either have to charge fees as high as 20 million naira per annum...or the government collects tax from everyone from richest dangote...to poor beggar on the street, at a rate of 50% per income.

Either accept that it costs money to build new universites or equip them properly, or stop complaining about bad education. Even with the increase, none of the universities is charging enough to even pay the light bill adequately self.

Stanford university that is in the top 100....fees there are 13 thousand dollars...or 5.6 million naira, after 'aid' which has to be paid back self. Is your university charging 5.6 million naira per annum? Is it?

The bad things we get in university....that is what our yeye ekuke fees can afford. Yet you think we can pay 200 dollars for 20000 dollars education. Magical thinking!

But that's the truth university education is not meant for anyone. Many practical skills are there that can make you enjoy life.
How many percentage of US population get BSc?
Nigerians with our numerous BSc how many entrepreneurs are we creating?
Our graduate are looking for jobs instead of creating it. And you don't need to be a graduate before you can seek for job.
Practically more percentage of workers in nigeria are not graduates and majorly of graduates employed are not working in their studied field.
