Hello Nairalander,

I need your suggestion and advice because I just acquired 7 hectares of land for plantain farming in ekiti which will be planted by February next year, the place is secured and free from bandits or herdsmen but everybody is telling me to do relocation instead of farming even though I’ve invested up to 4 million naira into this project because I love Agric….

Please which one is the best advice for me right now as I know how I can make it big by planting up to 10,000 suckers of plantain on this land and get the return in a year, is there market for large production of plantain?

Mods please help me to push this to front page as this is my only option of surviving

travel out for?

Bros, focus on your business.

I also have the same exact plans although I have not yet purchased the land etc.

Invest in your business and in 2 to 5 years you will be able to travel abroad whenever you like.

Leave all those japa crew alone. Dem no wise

Ordinarily I would say farming, and when the business becomes huge, you can then travel abroad to expand the business' reach...Holiday and connect with potential buyers. But then, I would suggest you put it on hold until these murderers are put in their place. Insecurity was my own main push factor.

I also have some hectares of land I intended to farm on, but the location is Fulani herders infested, so wisdom was profitable to direct. But if you think the location of your farm is safe from all those killer Fulani herdsmen, it would be a very wise idea to go into large scale farming if you have the financial strength to do so. Well cultivated and harvested farm produce can never run out of buyers, so, barring flood and related hazards that affect farmers, I think you won't regret it.

Because relocating abroad comes with so many risks; there is no guarantee of anything. Except of course you have a sellable skill that can be exchanged for money for an easier life.

All the best with your final decision.

Don't relocate, travel

I hav seen lots of people with no eduction opportunities that depend on farming
Now they have atleast 2 to 3 houses with cars.

If I wanna invest today in Nigeria... I will look into farming/planting.....

Do this and within few years... you can travel for holidays

Re: Farming Or Relocating Abroad by ytdivine(m): 8:27am On Jan 03, 2023
Farming is the key. Get into fruits and vegetable farming, you will be surprise how much you realize. Many of us have tested abroad and now settled home farming. Its easier to make money here than abroad if you invest the same energy here.

Pls relocate abroad...
Read about the Zimbabwe farmers that came to Nigeria.
All of them closed up and d only remaining one is Valentine Chicken...
The summary of the report is simple
Naija agric value chain is too chaotic...
You must own the whole value chain to be profitable...
Lastly.. nothing is certain in farming...
Herdsmen, fire incidents. Thefts.. etc are problems you need to factor
into your model...

Op the only venture that guarantees double digit return on investment is agric. The best decision i took in 2020 was to invest in Agriculture. Cultivated almost 6 acres of plantain (serving as shade for my cocoa) and i can authoritatively tell you the money from it is mouthwatering!

Lol.

Obviously you have already forgotten your new year resolution to try to make sense when you speak.

Since you have started this year with stupidity it is obvious the rest of your year is going to be as unproductive as your entire life.

Sucks to be you grin

Hi,

Allow me to advice you rightly. And do not in anyway desist from what i am about to say.
You can be a big man in Nigeria, and for the sake of a saner environment , very safe place, you can relocate abroad, its a 2 way thing. Let me show you something.
Your farm can be entrusted to your parents (As far they are alive) and you relocate abroad , time to time, the farm would yield profits, and your family back home can be settled from the resources they get from the farm, while you go abroad and make some more money to invest in some other business coming back home.
Only say these people way be family members hear say i day work remotely, you need see the list them bring come for me. Talk less of when you relocate abroad, and na one source of income you get, Think am, even your village people no go reason do anything with their hands again, you don day there na, so you go send money, even to the native doctor way day your village, e go expect say your money go reach there. Their thinking is, once you go abroad, you day see money from that airport you day go, and na one source of income. And you know Europe , US and UK is wired to not make you extremely rich.... reason this thing deeply.

You can relocate abroad, and let your family members manage your farm land for you. If they need money, the farm you have can cater for them while you are away, make you no loose from 2 ends at once.

Think am well.

Oga, the risk in Farming is much, especially if this is your first time of venturing into it. Before the gains can come in will be up from 3 years. I was also in your shoes in 2019. Please if the resources are scares, relocate and come back later to invest in the farm. Farming requires good knowledge, experience and better management practice (all these culminate to more money and time).

If the resources are there, I will encourage you to take both.

Farming takes time for you to have return on investment.

I think that one should be his private concern. The part you should know about is the advising part to relocate or continue in his farming project.
Other things should not be your business as it stands.
Good day.
