Hmmm look at the fish pond matter that Oaxis or GloriousGbola spoke about. How couldn't that man he trusted with setting up his business not know that if he was honest and straight forward he would probably have attracted more investments and extra responsibility that would have transformed his life and that of his family for good.

Or people that go and remove manhole covers someone falls in dies.

As a people fundamentally if we don't change we're on a long thing.

Just as we spoke about Real estate investment on this thread yesterday

Someone yesterday In Nigeria was telling me how a tenant in their boys quarters did illegal bypass electricity connection so he can avoid paying bills and the boys quarters caught fire from an electrical issue burning 3 other units

So the landlords investment is gone. And it's not like many people in Nigeria have insurance

So what are you going to do about that one now? That tenant will also claim Nigeria is corrupt while he can't even do what's right to his landlord

Seankafor every transaction in the world involves certain level of trust. The bank you are keeping your money how do you know they are not planning to run away with your deposit? The bus you enter how do you know the driver knows how to drive and he's not going to plunge you into a river? The mama put you eat how do you know she's not serving you with rotten animals?
The example of the nepa illegal connection do you expect Nepa to be coming into every house in Nigeria to be checking your connection daily to protect them

BTW Sean Ive been trying to ask for some time? did you resolve your project issue? NYSC and job market next right?

And how did you know your supervisor will read the work and not give your project to another student

You see the trust chain in every transaction you do

Even driving is based on the trust that those in opposite lane won't suddenly swerve to face you at speed

Chief you haven't commented about how your party's VP candidate publicly asked for gay people to be executed.

Donjazet2:

That's what pains me the most. "Christians actually being satisfied with someone being killed for doing something they don't like. It's just sad seeing it. I saw a thread on Twitter about this issue and the responses to this crime were just insane.

You see people saying, don't do something that is unpopular in a society. Really?? So no appraisal of the brave anymore.

I was telling people on that frontpage post, today it's a gay person being killed, tomorrow it can be you being killed for holding hands with your babe in Abuja. Live and let live

How do you build trust - is it not knowing that both parties will play their parts? And there will be consequences if they don't.
The bank you keep your money is purely a business interest and a working government guarantees the safe keep of your money.
So you can with all confidence know that someone is "insuring" that trust.
We need to have a system in place and enforce that system. Those in power to do so MUST do so, otherwise, ko le work.

For the fish pond thing some people will blame Oasis for not being physically in Nigeria but my friend who also lost in the fish pond business. His own was cleared overnight. Are you going to blame him for going to sleep and not sleeping beside the pond?

Most people only care about immediate gains sha

Imagine the opportunity to clean out 10m now of be getting 1m a year for 10yrs. You know everyone will pick option one or most people sha

I disagree with him completely on that. But I note how sadly such views are enabled by his religion and his society. That's what I'm lamenting, hoping that we're able to overcome as a society.
We're still too conservative for my liking.

What happened to him?
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 12:01pm On Jan 07, 2023
FBS:

This is NOT specific to Nigerians alone. It's human nature to want to form oversabi and bypass the system. It how we are built.
Take over speeding for instance - Most people (all over the world) don't over speed not because they are nice or not Nigerians, they don't over speed because they don't want to pay a fine or lose their license.
That's accountability and enforcing a system that is in place.
If you don't enforce a system, it is basically non-existent.

And I will hard disagree with that

The word is nature vs nurture.

My dad never oversped and I can say that I do not overspeed

My children will never think of throwing garbage out the car or throwing it indiscriminately

For better or worse I was largely known in the company as the britico guy and in some ways it reflected badly on me

A large part of it is raising your children right and setting an example for your them.

We all know people whose road is straight in spite of everything

There are many people who trusted the govt to keep their own end and after the bank folded what happened to them?

I don't know if the depositors in Savanah bank ever got their money or even those with Maddof or investors in Enron

So for things that do not involve govt how do you trust your tenant is not doing illegal connection that will burn the house? Do you visit his house daily if you do that he can always change it once he sees you at his gate or you tell him to keep his gates open all day because you want access all the time

How do you trust that your restaurant your driver your nanny your mechanic your lecturer everyone aside you is keeping their end of the trust bargain since you can't be everywhere at the same time even if you're with them you won't know their minds

Shaqfu, if you had ethics, values and morals, and you really want Nigeria to be better, you wouldn't want a sickly senile old public-treasury usurper like Tinubu to be president of 200 million people.

If Nigeria worsens or remains the same, it's because of devious people like you who think our collective destinies as a country is worth nothing more than an envisaged fleeting satisfaction of "I told you Obi wouldn't win".

it's the same way you trolled after Buhari won in 2015 against our pleas but by 2016, you were regretting; and 2017, you were cursing out at Buhari.
Did the fleeting satisfaction of having one over I or Trûckpûsher, your then politics section adversaries, save you from the hardship Buhari brought with him as his supporter?

You're doing it again!
my main man. This is not about ethics, morals or values or whatever, it is about interest, this is what politics is about. You said it yourself, you would have thrown your full weight behind Osinbajo, if he had emerge APC flag bearer because he is a strong advocate of the tech industry, now that reads so much like interest, and you even said it that you support Peter Obi because amongst the candidates, he's most likely the one who will support the tech industry, so bro what's all this morals, values and what not?

Politics is about interest. It is about who gets what, when and how. (Lasswell) that is interest, not about morals, values and ethics.

If Nigeria gets worse or 'badder' than this, it will not be because of who sits in Aso Rock, it will be because of Nigerians who can't obey simple rules and regulations. Nigerians who abuse public institutions and treat it with disdain. Nigerians who break traffic law and defend it, Nigerians who are friends with nepotism and tribalism, Nigerians who are religious bigots and zealots. Nigerians who benefit from the current abysmal state the country is in etc. Simply put, Nigerians are the reason Nigeria is the way it is. Obi, Atiku, Moghalu, Asiwaju won't work magic, things will only get worse.

That is how it has been since 1999.

Now you say Asiwaju is senile, sickly and a usurper, tell me bro, when did you get a medical degree for you to arrive at that conclusion?

It's the same way you said Asiwaju is a thief, come on bro, come on...

That is actually the way fraudsters think. Placing the blame on the victim. It is also the reason why so many people give Nigerians a wide berth in business matters.

On the upwork threads it is a common complaint. It is much harder for Nigerians to break in because of well earned bad reputation

Because if you are a person who can only be trustworthy if you are watched like a hawk, you are definitely not a person I want to do business with

He’s right… They should put in place machineries to checkmate stealing

I work with a firm with clinics scattered all over Australia.

Managers and Franchise partners stole close to 200K dolls before the firm wake up.

They employed two of us and one of our job is internal country… I Dey blast managers everyday if they no account for 200$
