Like Roland17 said, If you cannot buy 2 houses, since you are single, If you dont mind sharing your space, you can buy like a 2 floors house and rent the bottom while you stay in the ground floor

Just always have the mindset say incase job no dey How will I have a roof and feed myself for some months

Taking into previous facts you had shared, If am being honest with myself I know a whole lot of sentiments (ala being alagosian blabla is involved) however it still has to make some sort of financial sense.

Business case, if done right could be profitable, long term I see a booming Nigerian Toursim or probably hospitality sector which would benefit 2-3years time from the visits of the current JAPA waves cos unlike previous Japa waves these lots are leaving with family and some selling off landed properties, hence will require places to stay upon visits.

Also I put in shorter time frame for these people coming back to visit, as they are arriving overseas shores with legal document sorted and being able to work and earn decent wages.

I guess am being overly optimistic and clouded by sentiments - whats your thoughts?

Renting sometimes may be cheaper than Mortgage though sometimes more expensive, however with mortgage you benefit from property appreciation especially in a rising market, worst case you own the property at the end of mortgage term with rent you own nothing.

I am an advocate of ownership of properties. Almost every billionaire you know has real estate holdings

Just know what works for you and your investment strategy

Some like stocks, some like crypto, some like buying and selling, some like bonds, some like real estate.

It requires a lot of investment in cash time and patience but it's probably the most secure investment in my own opinion

Someone told me that

Chase Bank will never loan you money to buy any stocks not even their own shares but will loan you money to buy real estate. Meaning they will rather bet on real estate than bet on themselves

Caveat. These are my opinion and I am likely to be wrong. Also open to other people's opinions

1. If you master a skill well enough, you can get a job outside the country while still in Nigeria. Someone where I work japa'd this way. Not easy but doable

2. Some countries offer citizenship by investment. You can read about Portugal D7 Visa. In the course of my research it's one of the "easiest" to get

3. A lot of guys are also going through care Visa but you ruled out UK already.

This is the little I know. Hopefully, others can also contribute.

Ideally, you are supposed to just find care jobs in the UK and apply for the ones offering sponsorship. This is quite difficult to get.

What people do now is find a sure plug in the UK and pay between 8000-10000 pounds for the care visa. It comes with 3 or 5 year sponsorship. Of course that comes with its own risks. If you get scammed, OYO
