I was suspecting it will be in the north and I was right, the man was bringing 50 million to deposit, they asked him what has he been doing since?

If this man who is not a politician can still have such amount with him, you can imagine what evil politicians will still be having with them. You now see why they are crying up and down, vote buying gone wrong.

That man is only fronting for a politician, no sane individual will ever have such amount in his\possession.
Nigeria is cursed with very wicked and corrupt political class.

What would you have them do?
Do you still want to accuse them of trying to burn Nigeria the same way they tried to burn the beautiful Lagos built by Tinubu during endsars?

Igbos are now wiser, they wont join you in any of your evil protests again.

They should all be interrogated

Let them collect the hard evidence first, link it to an account with BVN then they would explain how they earned it, during what time frame and how much in tax they are owing?

Some might have to give bribe to get their money back because it is now civil servants they are dealing with (not private sector).

Nigerians & last minute things.....SMH, they give people over 60 days!!!.....In December & early January they where hardly any person's in commercial banks deposit bulk rooms....

Why do people with such large chunks of cash take unnecessary risk like this?

Anyways, anybody from Kano, Kaduna & Lagos still holding d old cash?🤭🤭

A lot of you just talk blindly without the context of reality just like your bald CBN governor and wool in the ear Buhari.

He has warehouse that sells flour. They make 1billion naira in sales monthly . That's average of 33million naira daily and most of these sales are in cash. How do you want such a person to transition into a cashless banking service within 2 months when their customers are largely cash based . Also a lot of their customers would likely be cross border buyers from Niger, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso who bring in CFA to exchange to naira cash before making purchases. You think such models can be processed overnight?

To Emefiele fans and his minions thinking this solves vote buying...

When Emefiele grinds all businesses down to their grounds because of some shortsighted policies a lot you would be the ones to bear the brunt. There's a difference between supporting a policy and having commonsense and logic to understand the ramifications of a policy. You can't rail road people to perform a business in a way when the infrastructure isn't there.

A friend has sent in money to my GTB since 12pm Nigerian time. It is 11pm now and same funds has not reflected and she has been debited by her bank. Imagine how that hampers millions of businesses when we don't have the infrastructure to run such?

Banks don't just upgrade servers overnight to cope with x3 volume of requests. It takes meticulous planning and scaling up. A server built with a max thoroughput of 1million API calls would break down with 2million requests. It's common sense

People (especially abokeys) who stole money will still carry the money to CBN, CBN will take the money from them, credit their accounts, without querying them. So, why the hullabaloo? Just stressing people, making them carry load upandan undecided

Billions in HARD CASH? I don't think so. Even USA would have that data... It is all linked to a BVN. Anyone that knows of that transfer can blackmail the owner.

I've worked with wholesalers in Kano Markets when I used to work in an FMCG. This is very normal. Some of them make very very crazy turnover.
There was one time there was a delay in 1st Bank branch on Bello road after coming back from Easter break (Good Friday to Easter Monday) i.e four days. The tellers were not able to attend to other cash depositors from open of business on Tuesday 8am till around 1pm.
When I asked the reason for the delay, my teller friend at the bulk section said a customer who I know in the market brought close to 420 Million naira cash in different denominations from 10 to 1000 naira.
That is just for 4 days transaction. The bank tellers were counting his money for 4-5 hours.
Their businesses are 90% cash based, it would be interesting to see how they adapt in these times.
But Politicians can still use them though and it would be a good cover because some of these businesses up North do massive turnover.
Wow. Seems I am in the wrong line of business. shocked
Trading in fast moving goods seem to be the way.

The major issue is not depositing, the major issue is getting back the same amount you deposited because they will not give you new notes and mind you the CBN will verify your source of money before depositing it at this stage, also It will take about 2 weeks before it will reflect in your account after screening and approval.

Vote buying will not still be achieved
Cbn will credit you whatever amount you deposited but the major issue now is to hoard that money to avoid vote buying.

I never disputed that, I only said they will not get back the cash(new notes) in return which will in turn affect vote buying...

CBN is not FBI. I don't think they care about how you made your money, but you won't get cash again. That way, they can accurately track money circulating within the Nigeria's financial services industry because a lot is outside the footprints of the industry.

With this move, it becomes difficult for kidnappers, for instance, to ask for ransom in cash. If you do a transfer to them, the security operatives can pick them up easily. Cashless transactions have loads of benefits.

U r correct but I strongly feel the kidnappers are part of the government so they will always make a way. To deal with a problem start by killing the root then watch the branches and leafs fall off while the stem gentle withers away.

Hmm... Very funny CBN, I know of a family in Kano that has once paid for more than 1,100 trailers of millet in Nasarawa State, and they did not go to bank to pay the money. And that is all they do. And there are many of them there in Kano State.

So what is all this hullabaloo by poverty stricken minds about money coming out in bags from the North These pictures are nothing compared to what business men have at home in Kano. And Buhari knows this for a fact! Please am not fighting for Thieves in civil servant clothing🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

And did Buhari himself win his first and second term with a cashless Policy?

You nailed it 100%. Some foolish people who support emefiele and buhari on this chaotic naira swap only believe it would restrain a particular candidate from vote buying without realizing the damaging effect it is having on the economy. It is just like them trying to kill a fly perched on their tv set with a shotgun. Stupid things!!!
