Initially, I wanted to apply for visitor visa but people advised me against it and recommended I apply for SOWP instead. I was initially scared about the processing time I was seeing on cic, but PPR has just been issued in just 2.5 months.

For those that have submitted their family passports for stamping at the VFS Lagos.

How long did it take? And did all the passports return back to lagos at the same time?

I was tracking our passports submitted, got a mail that mine is still under processing in IRCC office meanwhile the kids own have been stamped and in transit to VFS lagos office.

Just a bit worried as I was thinking since I submitted all together, they should have same timelines

It started on 3rd march. Ppr dropped 2.00am on 4th march

Eligibility started thesame moment she ppr. Checked around 10:00am CA time and there was nothing like eligibility. Slept, woke up around 12:00 pm to the goodnews

Marriage certificate suffices and yes what ever sponsorship you used it valid if the funds are enough

Yes, send it as webform to Nairobi, Lagos, Abuja, London.

PPR dropped for my wife and children yesterday.

SOWP for my wife, a student visa for my first child, and visiting for my lastborn.
Their applications were submitted before I left Nigeria.

I got my student visa in June, and I then deferred admission from September to January.

Documents submitted:
4 months bank statements (both MBS and statements of account)
Marriage certificate and loads of family pictures
Her work-related documents
daughter's school-related documents
Children's birth certificates

Timeline:
Upfront medical: November 7, 2023
Application submitted: November 11, 2022
Biometric: November 14, 2022
I ordered the first GCMS through anon123 on December 11th, and it arrived on January 10th, 2023, with nothing but medical passes.
Medical passed: December 14, 2022 (this was 2 days after my wife sent them an emotional email)
Eligibility review: We are not sure when this started, but we saw it on December 30, 2022.
I ordered the second GCMS on January 12th and am still waiting for it.
PPR: February 3, 2023

I got to Canada on January 3, 2023.
My wife immediately sent my student permit letter, course enrollment, and class schedule through email and Webform IRCC.

God has been faithful to us, and I give Him all glory.
Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread; you guys are amazing. Though I never got to ask questions here, I did get most of the information we used here.

1. No, it's not necessary at all. Unless you've already done it.

2. Yes, for employment and education, just write Not applicable or NA

Officially, it is called OWP (Open Work Permit), but because this route is available for spouses (and also children over 18 years) of international students and workers in Canada to work in any field, that's why many people call it SOWP.
It is officially recognized as Open Work Permit.
Don't worry about the notarization or name used, it won't have any negative effect.

I sent an email and webform to IRCC last week stressing how the delay is affecting us to which they replied that they are handling a lot of applications at the moment and we should exercise patience.

The wait was indeed emotionally exhausting but it ended in praise.

Please quick questions:

1. Since SWOP validity depends on that of the student's (or Primary applicant's) Visa; What then happens the person with SWOP after the primary applicant completes his/her study?

2. Let's say someone is in the pool for EE PR and secures a SWOP before then, what happens if he/she finally succeeds with EE PR when he/she is already in Canada with SWOP?

3. Can an SWOP's person seek for admission while already in Canada?

Anybody with idea on this should help or refer a link where I can read further. I need these answers to plan better.

I have seen soo many December apps approved. Even those submitted in January are getting approved....

Inform IRCC by sending a webform to Nairobi and Lagos, attach a scanned copy of the new passport and in the body of the mail explain the issue.

Eligibility not started. Medicals and Criminality passed. Wifey called the MP of her area and IRCC told MP office application is Open and i will have to wait. The wait is depressing.
