My comment isn't really because of the 7-0 thrashing... The season Liverpool lost to Villa 7-2 we were in a very bad shape..... We still managed to finish 3rd that season...Man Utd are supposedly in their best form in years according to their fans, but you have lost games by embarrassing scorelines this season and are 3rd, just 7 points ahead of us with a game in hand for us... Just goes to show that Ten Haag isn't building anything special like you guys are trying to make it look... Anyway, time we tell.... |

Danielnino00:You've still not shown why you think Ten hag is not building the team after just half a season and one TW with the club. Is this not a better Man Utd than last season. I know you prefer Ole continuing as coach than Ten hag for obvious reasons 😂. Same reason why we all love Potter. 5 Likes 1 Share |

codemaniacs: You are running with your own perception. The screening process I posted was done by Emmanuel Amunike. Keep in mind, he trained under Sir Bobby Robson, one of the best tacticians of the game. He trained under Luis Van Gaal and was part of one of the best-scouted Super Eagles era (USA 94 and Atlanta 96 teams). So, calling it madness is funny. Instead, you should learn from him. Keep in mind, he was part of those that scouted the likes of Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, and Chukwueze. He knows his stuff. Now, what he is looking for are gems. Let me explain what gems are. When Diego Maradona joined Argentinos Juniors, I think he was 10 years old, his manager said, he could not teach Maradona anything. He knew it all at that age. What the open trials are for, is to find special talents. Yes, you can find them on the streets. When you find these special players, you give them a crash course in tactical play. As soon as they assimilate the basics, they grow from there. And, yes, they can even outclass players that grew up playing in some of the best academies in the world. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Ole, Ten Haag or Potter, I don't care who our rivals appoint as coach . Guardiola is the only coach who has constantly given Klopp problems... The rest na just vibes |

Danielnino00: Even after doing the NPFL U-15 development programme, you are not going to capture all the top talents in the country with it. The idea is to find the best players available and open trials give that. You talk of age as if the other ways do not have players with falsified age in the system. Unless the NPFL system can cater for over a hundred thousand kids, it can't help give us a proper selection process. We need all systems contributing and open trials to be the benchmark to break into the squad. If a player who has been in an academy for 15 years can not perform better than a player who has been playing on the street in an open trial, the academy-developed player has no place in the U20 team. Finito. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: That is where private academies come in to fill the deficit... Let me ask you, what's the aim of the u-20 world cup? Is it not to nurture talents for the future? So how would you gather street boys who are talented but lack the tactical and technical acumen of the game? When they go to the world cup, they will obviously meet teams better than them and be humbled.. The NFF in it's usual fashion would just abandon them..So what will we benefit in the end? Don't forget that we need the u-20 to feed players to the u-23 and super eagles too... If it is about u-17, I can very much agree... But u-20 requires more of professionalism... Imagine if Norway had conducted Open trail for it's u-20.. Halaand probably wont have shoot into the limelight as quickly as he did..he was already a professional at his club,so it was easy for him to get signed by Salzburg. An u-20 player is supposed to be close to hitting his prime... 1 Like |

Danielnino00:You've deviated from the real matter, boss😅. Nobody is comparing anybody with Klopp. Why did you think Ten hag is not building the team after half a season and one TW? Building a solid team takes more than a whole season sef, especially if the team was so bad, they were lucky to finish sixth the season before. You said we'll all be here by the end of the season, to do what exactly? The only thing ETH can do to deserve criticisms by the end of the season is to drop out of top 4. Anything else is extra, even his employers (Glazers) didn't expect instant success when he was signed. I don't want to use the first season of other top coaches to compare ETH's cos I don't like belittling other people's efforts. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 6:30pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
Danielnino00: You are making it look like the talents identified will just go from the streets to the World Cup. These guys get to work with the coaches in camp for over a year. We should stop using the Europeans as a benchmark. Look at Spain for instance, all the clubs till the third or even fourth divisions, have academies, with coaches with pro licenses. These clubs have the ability to scout the best talents across the country and the FAs do little in scouting and identifying talents. Nigeria is a long way from there. So, using how they got Haaland and co. to judge how we should scout talents is unrealistic. We have a lot of special talents that have no means of exposure. So, what we then do is plug the gap by finding exceptional talents, and bringing them up to speed tactically. If they are better than the academy and professional boys, they are best for the team. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:You said we shouldn't use the European model, and then go on to say something like the players will be in camp with the coach for a year? Bro which year? In Nigeria, we don't plan for youth tournaments until they are close by.. the team might even be without a coach until a few months to the start of a tournament, then you see them gathering players here and there.. How would such system favour players from the street who need time to be refined? Let's be realistic... |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:07pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
Danielnino00: The U20 does not work like that. Why do you think Emmanuel Amunike was able to play about 50 matches with his U20 team? It was because he camped for a long time with them. The idea is to have a team of quality professional and academy-trained players, while you built a top-grade team B made from scouting through open trials. Then towards the regular camping, you do the final screening. The aim is to find the best players, not the best opportuned players. Finito. |

TheGoodJoe:At the end of the 50 game period, the team failed to qualify for the world cup.. Aside the u-17 players from the 2015 world cup that were integrated into the team, the bulk of the others have gone into oblivion.. There's not so much the national U-20 team can do for these guys... Once the tournament is done with, they are on their own, unless their agents can leverage on their performance to get them good clubs.. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by codemaniacs: 7:19pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
TheGoodJoe: Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, and Chukwueze were already playing in academies they were never street footballer. Diego maradona's manager said that after Maradona had become an accomplished player he didn't say it when Maradona was 10 years old.. do you expect him to say negative things about Maradona the same way some Nigerians on this thread say negative things about Nigerian footballers Special talents can never be found on the streets because if they had special talents they'll already be in an academy. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:37pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
codemaniacs: When coach Monday Sinclair discovered Finidi George, Peter Rufai, Taribo West, and co., they were street/secondary school players. You are just talking what you think about the Argentinos Juniors coach. He said Maradona knew it all when he found him. You don't have a reason to doubt him. When Babawo Mohammed found Mikel Obi, he was playing on the street and he knew he had found "the best player in the country". About two years from there, he was training with Manchester United players and they were telling the coach (Sir Alex Ferguson) that Mikel was special. So, yes, you can find exceptional talents on the street. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Danielnino00(m): 7:37pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
hatakekakashi: The problem with EPL team is that their fans are quick to turn on players when the team is underperforming...They run out of patience quickly... I don't want him to join Man Utd for obvious reasons . Plus there's a general belief among fans that Man Utd isn't favorable to African players.. IMO, Bayern,Madrid or PSG soil be good for him....those are clubs were he can score well and is guaranteed at least a trophy every season |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:40pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
Danielnino00: The team failed to qualify due to sabotage. They were dumped on a pitch with poor drainage and were hindered from playing their brand of football. No matter the negativity, they played about fifty games and only lost one. If it was a league, they would have been top. The lack of exposure hindered their growth, but it does not mean they were not good. The fact is that we can run a healthy program with open trials and comprehensive screening. |
