This article written by Arthur Nzeribe and published in TheNews on 28th September, 1998 is still very valid. We should all read the article to understand why some people are so opposed to Tinubu’s presidency that they don’t mind a military intervention. They took this headlined position in 1960 and 1979 against Awolowo. Took the same position against MKO in 1993 and reiterated it in this article in 1998 when the country was preparing for the 1999 tradition. They are now disrupting flights and harassing the military to take over simply because Bola Ahmed Tinubu won a largely peaceful, free, fair and credible election. 14 Likes 3 Shares

Let us please see that we don't fan the embers of disunity... I am saying this because lately, Nairaland has been a medium that has widened the already deep gulf between us; Yoruba and Igbo. But trust me, if you come for me...I will come for you.. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

I'm not Yoruba, but: ASIWAJU IS COMING ! He is coming because his ambition resonates with the larger Abiola story. He is coming because God in heaven rewards hard work and strategic planning. He is coming because it is Nigeria's O'clock. He is coming because populism is a recipe for perennial poverty- facts. He is coming because his manifesto was the most meaningful and practicable. He is coming because his track records are more sterling. He is coming because of his ability to assemble near-perfect teams that inspire development. He is coming because he had the majority of votes cast and scored 25% in not less than 25 states of Nigeria. He is coming to set the republic free. 19 Likes 1 Share |

PlayerMeji: The purpose of this thread is not to fan the embers of disunity but to historically look at how some people behave in a particular way and how history always repeat itself if care is not taken. After MKO victory in June 1993, this same Arthur Nzeribe went to get a backdoor court judgment stoping the electoral commission from announcing the full result and declaring a winner. It took us years to get over that crisis. Now, we’ve made a lot of progress in our Democratic journey but some elements want to drag us back because they hate the person that won the election. They want to repeat the same thing they did in 1993 and we must not allow them. 19 Likes 2 Shares |

ABIODUN105: It is only the court that can decide that and not you. While the court is looking into the petition of the aggrieved parties, the democratic process must continue. Those disrupting flights and harassing the military for intervention must be condemned and prosecuted the same way election deniers who invaded the Capitol Hill to stop the election of Joe Biden were arrested and prosecuted. 6 Likes |

Brain damage is when you skip Obasanjo. Obasanjo must be from Sokoto. Southeast voted for Obasanjo against their Ojukwu. When has southwest voted mostly for a presidential candidate from southeast? When has north voted mostly for a presidential candidate from southeast? 2 Likes |

MasterJayJay:obasanjo has and will never be seen as a south western candidate, he never won south western votes you should have voted for Ojukwu na, the leader who sent millions of south easterns to unneccessary grave, selfishly took away his exotic cars and family away, same country he fought against, he wanted to become president. you should have voted for him. 9 Likes |

obawinner: Facts over delusion. Seems you are a novice. So take your time and learn. Then come back next 8 years to have any meaningful discussion with me. 2003 Presidential election Southwest. Obasanjo got majority of votes in southwestern states. Ekiti: 301,185 Lagos: 1,129,521 Ogun: 1,360,120 Ondo: 840,988 Osun: 582,089 Oyo: 828,725 I guess it was Igbo people living in southwest that gave Obasanjo those votes. 3 Likes |

Nzeribe's opinion piece is quite chilling because of it's almost complete accuracy. The points raised by Nzeribe are prophetic, given the same attitudes and indications we're witnessing today. |

The brave Arthur nzeribe that replyed abiola, when abiola said I will win without the igbos, he replied him and said you will win but you will never sit in aso rock as president, and the rest is history, but the question is if history is about to repeat itself. 2 Likes |

Arthur Nzeribe was the today Orji Uzor Kalu of today in the SE. A shameless and willing stooge of any govt in power. Meanwhile, great Igbo men like the late R.Adr Ndubuisi Kanu, Ebitu Ukiwe among many fought against same Nzeribe and the military of the IBB day in attempts to reclaim the late MKO Abiola June-12 1993 mandate. Abiola mandate was acquired in the most clean, clear and transparent election ever seen in history. Tinubu’s case is that of a fraudulently acquired mandate by INEC. 2 Likes |

Same method Those who don't know history are hailing Obi....but some of us know the script he's following. This same Arthur Nzeribe was shouting at the time that Abiola has rigged the election. He claimed Tofa's mandate was stolen. He went to court to obtain an injuction to stop the declaration of presidential results. SDP went to court to obtain a counter judgement. The military eventually annulled the election. And Nigeria suffered afterwards. 1993 - 1998 was not funny. Such was the suffering.....Nigerians were literarily praying in church every Friday vigil for Abacha's death. Obi is now claiming he won.....elections are rigged wherever he lost but in the South East there is no rigging according to him and Datti. But in 2023 Yorubas are smarter.....hence the noise Onanuga, FFK and many who know history are not keeping quiet with thesame template used in 1993 7 Likes 2 Shares |

When we tell foolish Igbo like your fathers in Alaigbo that you never voted MKO don't you fools claim Anambra voted him ? Did delusion brainwashed statement replace the thoughts of your foolish Igbo fathers then or did MKO win majority vote with your foolish argument back then or it is time to take back your foolish comment now.
