The Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, says no approval was given for the construction of the seven-storey that collapsed in Banana Island on Wednesday evening, April 12, IGBERETV reports.

The construction workers were said to be on the sixth floor of the building attempting to lay the seventh floor when the building caved in, trapping so many of the workers. Fortunately, no life was lost in the incident.

In a statement released by its Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, the Lagos state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development said an investigation has commenced into the incident. The statement read;

LASG INVESTIGATING COLLAPSED BUILDING IN BANANA ISLAND

An unapproved 7-floor building under construction has collapsed in Banana Island, Lagos State, this evening.

Few who sustained injuries are being treated. There is no fatality. This unfortunate incident happened while casting was being done.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins was immediately on site to assess the situation and flag- off investigation.

We ask members of the public to remain calm and expect further information from the ministry as we know more.

Always quick to dish out terrible lies and exempt themselves, knowing fully well that it is impossible for a building of that nature to be in banana island without the knowledge of the various egunje ministries in lagos.

Ordinary small boys quaters I was putting up in an estate in lagos, they show up everywhere writing X and O on my fence without even knowing anything about the land.

However, this is damage control by the Lagos state government. They keep claiming oblivity of any negative occurrences so as to hide their incompetence and ineptitude. Expected. Check those living on that Island. The majority of them are governors and ministers' friends. You want to live oyinbo lifestyles but you cant follow thw rules they follow. Just few months after election and yet the government claims they are working. How can a workable government miss to notice the erection of such massive structure in one (if not the only) of the expensive location in new Lagos. So this is how it can avoid taxation and also evade inspection at the expense of public safety
