One stupid girl, a female prefect, punished me and when she wasn't able to bear my stubbornness any longer, she invited the male prefect... They so dealt with me, flogging, sweeping etc... But I had the last laugh... Our school gate man padlocks all the classes by 5, he left the padlocks of this senior classes opened and asked them to jam it when they were done reading... On this day, it was past 6 they were reading for WEAC or so, when I was sure this wicked seniors were inside the class, I came from behind and jam the locks... It wasn't until around 10-11pm when thier parents were looking for them that they came to thier rescue... They were meant to sleep inside the class and mosquito till day break... They knew I was mostlikely the culprit but the had little or no evidence... The foolish female prefect told me toy face she knew it was me... I saw the stupid girl recently, she is still unmarried at almost 40...

I will never ever forget that night as a very young JSS1 student of Holy trinity grammar school Sabongida Ora, during the night devotion our deputy senior prefect lashed the hell out of our lives because we didn’t attend Sunday service. It was so painful I cried till I drifted into sleep. It was so painful and so lonely.

Ahhh, it was my first and second day in boarding school that i experience bullying but when i noticed d thing is getting out of control, i had to apply strategies. First, i had to run to some of our teachers from my place for cover, im always in their quarters everytime school close till bed time. I ll be fisrst to woke up and last to sleep cause to avoid those monsters. But there not missed our morning routine ooo.

Umemulo is not a South African ceremony, but it's a Zulu ceremony because we have 10 different tribes here in SA. Even though our languages may be similar, our cultures are different. Even our traditional dance moves are different with each tribe.

In my culture we have what we call Koma, it's for kids as young as 8 to 12... But if you've never participated in the ceremony, you can still go even when you're older because there's no age limit. It's believed that if you've never participated in the ceremony, then you can't get married to someone who has.. You'd have to go to the ceremony first before getting married to the person.

As for my mother, she was just being dramatic and overprotective, what she did has nothing to do with culture.

It seems like you guys always assume that all black South Africans are Zulus,or their cultures are the same as Zulus, I don't know what is it with you guys and the Zulu people... Maybe I should open a thread and list all the South African tribes for you guys.

Is the special protection by your Mum related to the prestige that comes with the ceremony?

From the videos I have watched the parents seem to be very proud that their female children graduate as "good girls" and kill a cow to celebrate it. Something like that.

As an African I understand the diversity that's existent in the artificial nations partitioned and formed by the colonialists. In Nigeria we're more than 250 tribes.

I know that they're a plethora of tribes in South Africa and Zulu seems to be more prominent. If you don't mind, you can proceed with your planned exposition of the diverse cultures in South Africa. I think your country is really unique and I'll tell you a lot about South Africa's uniqueness in subsequent conversations.
