Yes, even better than Pep,

BTW was it only under PEP Alonso learnt his Trade

You can see the influence of Pep. Xavi Alonso played heavy possession football and that is Pep's signature boldly signed.

Xabi Alonso is coaching a side.that was not.too long ago in the relegation zone. He has over achieved.

The question is, will Mourinho ever win a league title again? I doubt because such horrendous football can never work in a league.

Finito.

Xabi Alonso reveals why he left Real Madrid to join Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich

He admits that moving to Germany straight after winning Madrid's Decima was prompted by wanting to learn from Guardiola.

'I was so curious to find out his secrets,' he told The Athletic. The 37-year-old reveals that the Manchester City boss made his players 'feel like we knew the opponent better than they knew themselves'.

Alonso insists that Guardiola is a micro-manager, obsessed by the small details and wired differently to others in his field.

'A relentless natural enthusiasm,' he said. 'Football seasons are long but right until the very end, Pep never seemed to be tired. He was alert, always ready. For the players, maybe this gave us an extra few metres in our legs when it mattered most.'

That will likely be a minimum of 10 games for each country.
That's going to be a marathon. 7wins should easily ensure qualification for any side.

Two problems that CAF could face from this format, which might turn out to be an advantage for some countries is that if they continue this monthly stadium inspection before they get approval for games, a lot of countries will have to play their home games at neutral venue cus their stadiums won't meet the required standards. Also, we might see some countries pulling out due to lack of funds

Alonso being tactically good does not mean that he will ever win the bundesliga. Well, unless he joins Bayern Sha.

What are you celebrating here? Xabi Alonso totally outplayed Mourinho from the stats. As in totally.

If this is how Mourinho wants to continue, I see footballing time leaving him behind. No wonder Inzaghi keeps beating him recklessly.

I'm not celebrating anything...just pointing out how funny the game was 🤣

When Mourinho retires, he will be remembered as one of the greatest manager of all time, whether or not his tactics are enjoyable to some people.. There are plenty of coaches who play similar style as him, but haven't won shit.... Ultimately,he will be judged by his wins not by how many people he managed to impress ..

Mourinho will always be remembered of a coach that kept climbing down the ladder of football.

As time goes on, we will know the league managers are actually the best and Mourinho would not be in the list of League dominating managers.

to prevent the issue of countries pulling out, they may decide to zone the qualifiers so that the burden of travelling is not much on the smaller countries. You may say they are going to use fifa rankings but there is no law that makes it compulsory to use fifa rankings for the qualifiers. No matter what I'm sure we will win our qualifiers group.

was very impressed with John Stones performance over both legs. He so far off field and I’m wondering what kind of this is this. I like it.

At one point he receives the ball in the middle and pep was shouting for him to turn, instead of passing the ball back. I like that.

Will you say Mourinho was better tactically than Alonso looking at the stats?
Oga tactics is not defined as "possession football"
Tactics is the method you adopt to win a football game. Whoever wins had the better tactics. You had 99% possession and still lost = poor tactics.

When I play football manager, and come against an ultra defensive team, at about the 65 mins mark, I change my tactics to deliberately start giving my opponent the ball, because they didn't plan to have the ball, they wouldn't know what to do with it, they start making mistakes and concede ... Alonso no fit do that simple thing?

You hug the ball for 70 mins, no result then you go on hugging it for the entire 90 mins and lost... Radarada poor tactics!

your hate for Mourinho is clouding your judgement. Mourinho has won 8 league titles across england, Spain, Italy and Portugal. You can't even count up to 10 coaches that have won more in Europe's top leagues.

What are you saying? They had six chances on target. Why change tactics when you can have six chances on target.

It is football. Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't.

That is why it is a long term game
Mourinho celebrated his park bus tactics against Guardiola in 2010.

Look at where Guardiola is, see.where Mourinho is.

That game does not decide future dominance but tactical playing style.

I believe Rico Lewis coming into the team influenced John Stones. As soon as Stones mastered the inverted role, he became a very key player in our recent rise.

He has been special and a tactical spark to purchase play.

They won't dare zone the qualifiers unless they want Africa to be represented by mediocre countries .. The North Africans won't even allow it because there are only 5 member countries that are part of UNAF and that includes Egypt, Morocco, Algeria Libya and Tunisia all of whom, except Libya have the capacity to qualify for the world cup..

20 years from now on, when you Google or ask 1 thousand football expert about a list of the greatest coaches of all time, Mourinho name will be mentioned... Nobody will remember those who played fancy football but couldn't achieve results...
Because Mourinho style doesn't suit your taste doesn't mean you should rubbish it.. like somebody said earlier, tactics isn't about playing possession football.. tactics are a plan of action... If football was like a war zone, somebody like Mourinho will be a 5 star general because his tactics most times bring victories for his team... League titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain are no joke... Also, don't forget that he coached one of the greatest offensive team in the world in Real Madrid... Had they won the champions league that season, it would be considered one of the best of all time...

You can not dominate a league by playing negative football. It might have worked in the past but with many teams adopting modern strategies, you can not dominate a league with such dross format of play.

If Mourinho's style brings the most victories and success, he would be coaching a top club today. Same man that got kicked out from clubs due to his poor tactics, you are trying to sell such poor style as 5 star general. cheesy

That is why Inzaghi has been Doro knacking Mourinho left right and center. It is hard for big clubs to spend big on Mourinho's poor tactics. Why spend so much on players when in big games, all they have to do is to sit back and clear the ball out? grin

Grealish has been absolutely brilliant for us.

You see that Barca team, Messi was the X-factor but the team was not built around him. That team played total football. Na possession Dem go use k.ill this City team. The Haaland you mentioned eh, em go run tire grin grin

You forgot what the like of David Villa, Xavi and Iniesta could do too. Oya, who among the current City players will make that Barca team?

No let fanboyism cloud your judgement, there’s nothing i mean absolutely nothing that’ll make Barca 11/12 beat this current city team easily.

You’re talking about a team of a decade ago

Football has evolved and it’ll shock how Barca will loose by a mile. You forgot to put physicality into consideration

City is exactly as good against them man for man
Except Messi
City got the better goal keeper and defense
Equal midfield
And you’re telling me that city will loose
The only player that can match city physically is abidal and Messi the rest will be eaten like raw meat

This City team are possession based too. Football has advanced but it's still hard to crack this city team. Na why i dey hail klopp and the Brentford man frank. It's ttue those 3 were good too. But I'll rather choose MSN over VXI trio cos as much as the latter got flair undisputedly, the City guys are much more unpredictable when cracking defences. That Barca defence will leak Goals to Haaland to me. it is a close call sha. I know even pep will want to choose that barca team over this city side, but to me o, what City has will cause trouble for that Barca team. They sabi recover ball easily and sabi the extra unmarked man thing better than that barca team. Infact this madrid team sabi that cheat pass the XVI set.

Besides they weren't hard to score against o.

Barca wins anyway.

The most fair assessment kudos
