Will Dangote have become a billionaire without import ,monopoly from fantastically corrupt military & civilian leaders? To supporters, he symbolizes that Nigeria can do more than barter and trade. It can succeed in manufacturing. To detractors, he is a predator using connections in a corrupt political economy to tilt the playing field in his favor and sideline potential competition. Because of their influence in the Hausa and Muslim communities, Dangote and Dantata have always been useful to both the civilian and military leaders who ruled Nigeria. Dangote enjoyed GON favoritism in the form of importing rights throughout the military regimes and coups of the 1980s and 90s. 1 Like 1 Share

Lol. Una Sabi wail Sha! Dangote is able to maintain a monopoly in Nigeria because of his business acumen, his ability to make the right connections, and his vast wealth. Baba is a shrewd businessman who knows how to make a profit. He has a keen understanding of the Nigerian market and what it takes to be successful here. He also has the resources to compete with any other player in the market. One of the reason he has been very successful is because of his ability in building relationships with key individuals in Nigeria. He has cultivated close ties with the government and with other powerful business leaders. This has given him a competitive edge and helped him to maintain his monopoly in the Nigerian market. Also, Dangote is very wealthy. This gives him the resources to invest in new businesses, to expand his operations, and to compete with any other player in the market. He also has the ability to weather any economic downturns. This makes it very difficult for any other player to take market share away from him. Simple Sense! 🤷♂️ 5 Likes 1 Share |

iammo:So he was trading in Cement Sugar , Salt, Flour in the 80's and 90's when we did not have manufacturing capacity. Majority of our demand was imported and he was given the licence along with Dantata. Can you point any manufacturing plant in the 80's and 90's that was producing cement, sugar, salt and flour for him to be a commodity trader? |
Re: Forbes:Dangote Wealth From Import Rights Military & Civilian Regimes in 80s/90s by iammo(m): 9:23am On May 22, 2023 |
swaggerjack: No he was never given any import lisence and he was in Atlanta America with Davido's father in the 80s and early 90s hustling His return was in late 90s and his business started from the loan he took from his uncle to trade... Trade and not import |

swaggerjack: So a trader in industrial sugar that supplied Nigerian Bottling company Sugar must buy his sugar from a specific manufacturer?! Or he must be a sole Importer?! That's you ignorance, as a trader and a supplier all Dangote did was get sugar from importers on credit, supply Nigeria Bottling company to make coke, he made his profit and paid his supplies in Lagos 1 Like |

Yaradua who was loyal to IBB He wanted Land in Ogun, Ondo and Delta for his refinery yet was refused until Lagos Free trade zone offered him, now you claim Government gave him monopoly . |

iammo: Don't worry, when u grow up,u will know that the writer is not lying. In one of the US reports I read concerning Dangote,I concluded that no young man can compete with Dangote in Nigeria because of the huge monopoly he enjoys in the country. He increases prices of goods and services at will without anyone questioning him,he was one time accused by Samid for forcing him to increase the price of sugar during Ramadan. Don't worry, time is the only revealer of things hidden. Abiola was like that until, the power that be worked against him. |
