I did not realize that I was trying to give her the clothes with my left hand, and the next thing I noticed was a slap on my face. My bf told me to let it go, but I can't marry him if I am not on good terms with his mother. I expect my mother-in-law to treat me like her own daughter. She knew I was left-handed, and she still acted irrationally.

In this part of the world, left handedness is considered to be disrespect, but giving your mother in law something with left hand shouldn't warrant her slapping you. She should have scolded you, instead of slapping you. The woman is very mean, and I see her as someone who you will have issues with in the future. I also see her as a domineering person.. You on the other hand should also be conscious of your left handedness, knowing fully well the environment you found yourself.

She might be concerned about the age difference between me and my bf and be pretending not to care. I am twenty-seven years old and my bf is twenty-three. The day she discovered my age, she just acted surprised and told me I don't look my age. She did not show any signs that indicated she was concerned about our age difference.

If my mum was the mother in-law and you expect her to treat you as her daughter you would also get a slap as well.

My mum slapped me during my NYSC days for entering her room without knocking. I raised you better than that was what followed after the slap.

You are right handed so you cannot understand. Your brain is use to using your right hand so even if you are distracted you will still give things to people with your right hand, it doesn't work that way for left-handed people.
