Is This Really Happening To Nairaland? Who Has Noticed It by vengertime: 7:58am On Jul 16, 2023 |
Few years ago, once you wake up by 6:45am to 7:00am you would have like 8-10 lines of fresh posts on nairaland front page. But this days 8am - 9am no post. My suggestion is that reasonable Gen Zs should be employed to run the platform. Because,2006-2013 we were their age bracket and we did lots of things on this platform by educating ourselves without insults. Getting first time information about latest free browsing data, when NECO or WAEC results are out. NYSC info's etc. The older we get the more responsibility we will have. When I was younger I could sit down and watch 5 movie in a day, but recently I can't even watch film for 30 minutes without feeling sleepy, it's a sign of maturity 86 Likes 5 Shares |

Why blame the Mods when the owner is there? NL is not immune to the shege that's reigning supreme in Nigeria. If you doubt, ask gala and Lacasera. 12 Likes |

Nairaland is a lazy something...literally wakes up from sleep around 10am daily...over used posts remain on the front page for 48hours and becomes stale...posts from years back miracolously make it to the frontpage when it must have outlived its usefulness and the original poster might have gone 6ft. below...i have been on nairaland for many years with close to 10000likes...in all these years i never see any tangible upgrade walai.. 31 Likes 2 Shares |

I think it’s just a policy. Seems the management decided that new posts should start moving to front page as from 8am rather than the previous 4am, 5am, 6am, in the past. Or maybe the crop of MODs in charge now are less passionate about the job and treat Nairaland moderation as a job they resume at 8am unlike when Lalasticlala was here who doesn’t mind staying awake till 3am and waking up at 6am to move posts to FP. In my experience managing staffs, there’s nothing as bad as having employees who cannot move an inch beyond their job description. Their employment contract says they will be closing work at 4pm, a minute after 4pm there are already at the gate no matter the loads of work left in the office. Seun needs to recruit moderators who will treat Nairaland like a passion rather than a job they are employed to do. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Seun no dey hear word o. Advice him from now till 2030, he's gonna pay deaf ear... He's refusing to swim with the tide by listening to valuable feedback from users, he'll definitely sink at the appropriate time, and then he'll start blaming Nigeria. Nl is already sinking, that is why he had to run to get AdSense from Google. Now Google will have unfettered access to spy on his site by collecting valuable data that they'll resell I have since limited creating of meaningful threads or giving free valuable contributions on nl cos the owner is not serious about improving the forum. 21 Likes |

Of what use when the threads are going to be filled with tribal bigots Gone are the days when thesourcers used to give us educating threads back to back, when there used to be debates on nairaland, , when intelligent and smart people make brilliant inputs to threads before they hit front page, this days just two comments in threads and it’s already in front page, these two comments booked spaces to spew nonsense later on 12 Likes |

Coincidentally after that seun's "clamp down on bigotry", nairaland got stale and boring even for me. I can't lay my fingers on what it is exactly, but it is what it is. It might have weighed down his revenue from nairaland as well because it was shortly after that I started noticing the annoying Google top sticky ad on nairaland. Maybe it's just that the people who created good content got bored like myself, or people are finding more interesting things to do with their internet time. But for me, nairaland got boring. I'm mostly on foreign sites these days. 5 Likes |

Penguin2: You made a lot of point but the part that expects employees to stay beyond their contracted time just because they're loads of work left who takes care of it? Most Nigerian employers expect their workers to work round the clock and yet cannot work out proper compensation for same. I work in a place when you're 1 minutes late from official closing time you're likely to be deducted but nothing is added to you when you stay back long hours putting in the work after your closing time. 8 Likes |

logicalhumour:It’s true NL has gotten more boring… But I don’t blame the mods… if they are interesting contents the mods will put them on FP( the mods and seun actually want good content… it drives traffic and NL cannot survive without traffic) When they are no contents and mods have to do their job then you will definitely see stale contents from years back hit FP. Sometimes I go through different sections and all I see are shit.Ty threads. If I was a mod I will definitely have a hard time picking which of the less shit.Ty content to move to FP. People are creating less interesting contents on the forum and something as you observed is the cause. But I don’t think it’s the fault of mods! 9 Likes |

vengertime: I started using this platform around 2009 u til I decided to register with my first account in 2011... Nairaland will post news as he dey hot... But right now.. dey don't do it anymore unless it's a world breaking news... And also.. i think the Mod are not that many like it was few years back... and Mod on nairaland are doing a part job here... so is not like dey ha specific time they must push post to FP... dey do it whenever dey feel like 1 Like |
