Juicypamela: You are clutching at straws and nothing good will come out of it. FCT is not a MUST. Peter Obi brought no proof to the Tribunal as to either why President Tinubu should be disqualified or why he himself should be made President. Judges can't manufacture something out of nothing. |

Re: Here Is Why Peter Obi Is Next In Line If Tinubu Is Disqualified by Throwback: 2:27pm On Jul 17, 2023 |
LOVEALAIGBO: Yes! 2/3 of all the states and FCT is describing the whole of Nigeria that is the sample population where 25% is required. All the States and FCT is the totality of Nigeria. Nigeria is made of all (36) states and FCT. There is no comma before the AND (and), as such the rules apply at once to what has been described. If there was a comma before the AND (, and), the rules will apply individually firstly to all the states, and individually secondly to the FCT. The comma being absent means the (all states and FCT is together as one description of Nigeria). 1 Like |

udeh3: Can you mention one governor presiding that won his state by " 25% " Going by your assumptions, if the constitution portrays the president as the governor of FCT, does 25% suffice as majority, if 75% of FCT voted against Tinubu how does getting 25% make him change anything, from all point of logical reasoning. if we must treat FCT seperately i put it to you getting 25% is not enough to be a leader anywhere, 75% is a lot to ignore someone must have misinterpreted the law democracy is all about majority and that is why we must treat FCT as 37th state to give aggregate that will resonate majority Lastly, if you maintain the president is the governor of FCT then what does "FCT minister" stand for. |

chidiokay: You clearly don't know the Constitution. Even if the presidential candidate has no opponent, he has a certain percentage of vote he must get before pronouncing him the winner. Winning isn't about who has more votes or who won more states, it's about who won according to the Constitution How can one govern and leave in a place less than 25% voted for you? That is calamity. It shows you're not welcomed even before taking responsibility. This is why it's called an Area Council |

Tsolutionifede: You should be examined... I put up and argument using the Constitution as my reference, all you could do is reign curses and attack a certain region This is the height of ignorance and illiteracy Funny enough, I'm not from the region you're thinking... I am a true Nigerian who sees everyone equal regardless of where you're from, your background and status in the society I am in the side of truth and the law. |

udeh3: Listen to yourself does your statement sound convincing even to you, In a democratic settings, the only requirement to emerge winner over a state is to have Majority vote in whatever % as long as it resonate majority. Having 25% in FCT does not resonate ACCEPTANCE from lens of democracy lets not even argue that nonsense Democracy entails Equality and Majority, 1.superiority of FCT over other states rules out Democracy 2. Eligiblity of 25% to control FCT defiles Majority rule which is sancrosanct as well. However, one thing is clear here, you are the one misinterpreting the electoral act, for instance ikeja is the capital of lagos imagine not declaring sanwo olu winner becos he lose ikeja LcA sho make sense I asked a question, IF you say the president doubles as governor of FCT then what does Minister of FCT stand for ?? |

opera1: Abuja alone is not a deciding factor. You don’t even need to win Abuja. 25% in 24 states, 25% in Abuja (maybe), and Most votes overall are all factors. |
Re: Here Is Why Peter Obi Is Next In Line If Tinubu Is Disqualified by jumobi1(m): 9:15pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
chidiokay: Good point regarding 25% and democracy. Regarding the Minister, who elected the Minister? Definitely not the people since the appointer didn’t even score 25% of the votes in the FCT. The truth is that our constitution was poorly drafted. |

Re: Here Is Why Peter Obi Is Next In Line If Tinubu Is Disqualified by chidiokay: 9:59pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
jumobi1: FCT as capital represent mini Nigeria, its only logical the Man than has the majority vote and 2/3 of all states appoint the minister that preside over FCT ... makes logical sense The electoral act have being is existence for 24yrs and suddenly some people just realized the constitution was poorly drafted because there acclaimed messiah did not win FCT is not a state, buh on the bases of equity & fairness to all the daftman decided to upscale FCT as one of the states, so as not to disenfranchise the people in abuja, however they have no locus standi to claim superior switch tables if OBi had won majority vote plus 2/3 of 36states ... will you still think the electoral act was poorly drafted becos of 25% FCT lets not fool ourselves jare |

chidiokay: Don’t take things personal. Agbakoba, SAN raised this issue before the election. Other senior advocates are debating the issue. Yes I think it could have been drafted better. |

Cloudflare: This is not the Law......that section has never been interpreted so you can't say it is the law yet Wait for the courts to interprete it. As you know law reach....you still dey argue the Abuja matter?.....it's either ignorance or mischief.....why should Abuja be special? Candidates will just go to sleep once they win Abuja alone....the judges won't allow that. Abuja special status in the constitution is for administration not for the purpose of election and it is so described in laws that sets up many commissions so that it will not be left out when referring to states. Time and the courts will tell 1 Like |
