I work from home and do all the above when required. No big deal.

Depends on situation, most men do it abroad. When you find yourself in a situation where you can't afford a nanny and your wife's job is the most lucrative

My Dad have been acting a role of house husband for past two years and he would like to continue as it is for near future.

My piece of advice :- One has to know about him/herself very clearly. Goals and targets of the life should be clear. In my opinion, real goal, including all quick, short and long term, is happiness and satisfaction. As per dad, there should be an absolute balance between YOURSELF and your family, YOURSELF and your job. There can be temporary disruption in the balance and, therefore, other party should be compensated well. It is a 2-way traffic. If you are working hard in your job, you should work even harder on YOURSELF. DO WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO.

I have seen situations where the wife is very wealthy and there are kids in the family. My question is, can you as a man, leave your job to become a full time house-husband, taking care of the kids and the home while your wife works at her very lucrative job?

Your ear go hear word. She will always remind you of how useless a man you are. Her family won't respect you. She might start seen other men outside the marriage cos she can't be loyal, faithful and honest to you.

She will do like a proper Nigeria. I won't try it in my grave much more when I am alive. I nor want see finish.

For ordinary friends women dey do any how much more when you come marry and become full time house help. Sorry house husband washing, cooking, caring for rhe kids and helping madam to wash her undies.

Even with help around rhe house, the man still won't find it funny. Ask thoseen who lost their source of earning, was at home for a while and had their wives providing for the home jn the interim. Their sorrowful tales will give you all the answers you seek.

Again it is not a first hand account.
Back in time when recession struck , many employees were handed the pink slips abruptly. My friend's father also got it. A little background knowledge of his family. He is a single son. His father worked in an IT firm and his mother worked in a bank. They were a well off family and lived a lavish life style.
That evening, his father announced that he has been handed a pink slip and now he had to search for the job. Nothing major happened. His father started applying for jobs but unfortunately he got none owing to recession.
Meanwhile they had to strike off many expenditures as a large chunk of the incoming money had gone away. Their maid left.
For a few days things went really hay wired in their family. A lot of arguments followed. It was difficult for his wife to do household chores, go for her job, bear the cranky attitude of my friends father.

Then one fine day he announced that he'd be a house husband to ease the pressure on his wife until he finds a job.
The concept of house husbands in Nigeria is very new or perhaps very hard to find because in Nigeria it is a patriarchal society where man is the bread winner of the home and if he sits back at home then he is treated as jobless, good for nothing by the society and even mocked for eating food earned by his wife (yes it happens)

So my friends father who loved to cook started cooking on daily basis, did the dishes, washed clothes, bought groceries, etc. Initially with the kind of upbringing his mother has , she found it awkward to come home and be offered a meal by her husband. yet the best thing she did was to appreciate each and everything he did and made him feel important for the family.

Meanwhile my friend's father realized how much work females do at home and he started respecting ladies even more.
The things inside home were sailing smooth but my area was all up for spicy gossips. As my friends father walked down the street they would comment and taunt him for staying "at home doing "female stuff ". They questioned his potency. But my friends father was unfazed.
After being a house husband for 8 months he got a job.
This entire stay of 8 months helped him in being a better father allowing him to understand his child and spend time with him, making him realize the importance of being around with his kids. A better husband as he agreed and related to how much work has to be done and a better person.
Hope it answered your question.

Why not?
Re: Can You Be A Full Time House Husband! by cococandy(f): 2:24pm On Jul 19, 2023
The reason why many guys say this is because they don’t value the work that goes into raising kids, keeping the home and caring for all the family members. If they did, they won’t see it as a demeaning role. Learn to see value in the things your women do for you.
That way you stop asking “what do you bring to the table?” and you’ll stop looking down the caregiving home making role.

House boy, may my parents not forgive me if i try that nonsense for my entire life time
I’ve held the job of ‘house husband’ for about a year and a half now, and can say confidently it’s the best job I’ve ever had.

I’m meeting a lot of stay-at-home fathers now as Nigeria economy made it so for them, and I’m finding that the acceptability for this lifestyle choice is increasing.

For some families, it just works better this way. I hated working in an office environment, and my wife happens to enjoy the environment and challenge of that sort of work. She’s less inclined toward play and adventures with the kids, while those are my strong suit. She’d rather read and write, I’d rather cook. We know these things about each other and agreed that it made a lot more sense for me to be the house manager than her.

The hours and the pay might not be the best, but the benefits can’t be beaten. Tell me another job where you get to sleep with the boss without fear of being fired!

Nothing bad in it...

Stay-at-home dad

In Nigeria today most men stay at home with the excuse that they are working remotely while it is their wives that actually do the 9-4pm jobs

Men are getting extremely lazy... Anyways they have always been like that...

Eve went in search of food for that lazy man called Adam.. dude was just at home in the garden waiting to be fed by his wife...

And they still blame the poor woman for enlightening MEN.. INGRATES

I can do it but of course I will have to be earning big from other endeavors.

No man should allow his wife to be the chief bread winner, it’s one of the quickest ways to the grave

It is not your duty to 'allow her" or not.

Were you there? undecided

Who had been feeding Adam for the past 400 years of his life before Eve was created?

Say something reasonable and don't spill thrash just to saturate your hatred for men... And someone is your father too… angry

Ma’am you tagged me with the wrong ppl, “full time husband, stay at home husband” that’s something ridiculous. That’s high level bullsh1t, Even if my wife is a celebrity and get money pass me, that won’t stop me from making my own money too. It doesn’t mean I won’t help my wife at home, even if I work my assss off. I know how to do that.

Well your friends father is not the average egoistic Nigerian man.

The average Nigerian man would be out of work, the wife will provide during that period and he will still expect the wife to come back home to do all those stuffs your friends father did to ease the wife's stress.

A lot of Nigerian men hardly have anything to offer apart from money, when the money goes for a while they begin to panic because they don't see themselves being respected without money, even if you are down for a while, if you take up some homely responsibilities for that period a sensible wife will appreciate more but in a case where

Money - zero, help in the house - Zero,

Nothing,

Of course the woman doing all will grumble naturally and then the 'she doesn't respect me again because I am down', 'Is it because I am jobless now that you are saying I should pls help prepare the kids for school' wailing will start.

Even if you are cash strapped, make yourself useful in other things for that period

I can do all chores in my house plus cooking washing of clothes and vice versa. But i will not do those thing when i am married with wife living with me.
I may sometimes assist myself and wife when she stress with other work, but not as a full time house husband to be feed by woman' nah no no
