Yes, they are.

Nigeria is sadly on top of the list of countries that are enabling the illegal activities of killing pangolins for their meat and scales. Not just that, in the last decade we have successfully positioned our country on the unwanted list of being a trade route for the trafficking of these endangered species. And it's even saddening considering the fact we're one of the handful of countries blessed with the abundance of these rare animals, from the middle belt, to the South west, spreading all over the South South and stretching to the East.

Pangolins are being hunted like rabbits in our country. The commercial value is huge enough to make traffickers enormously rich, because their scales are in high demand in countries like China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.
