Is the field natural or artificial? I just hope it's natural instead of the artificial turf that's been now proven to be a health risk ... inadequate shock absorption and many emit toxins that can cause cancer.

Still pathetic for a state like Lagos, Lagos should have the best Stadium in Africa.

Even with the high level of enhancement done to these pictures, Stadium still looking like an open toilet in India.

Stupid dunce. THE STADIUM IS UNDERGOING COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATION. You no get brain?

The former minister had asked for a huge amount of money to renovate 5 stadiums, but people complained about the cost, so he got the private sector to finance the renovation instead.

Most of the stadiums built by south africa and brazil for their world cup hosting rights are all lying idle and unusable, all white elephant projects, which are now considered a huge waste.

Why does lagos need a bigger stadium when it has 3 usable ones already.

The former minister of sports, Chief Sunday Dare, got Alhaji Aliko Dangote to adopt the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja and Sir Kessington Adebutu to adopt the National Stadium, Lagos.

This meant that Dangote sponsored the repair work on the pitch, track and scoreboard at the Abuja stadium and Baba Ijebu sponsored the renovation of the pitch, track and scoreboard at the Lagos stadium.

The Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (Liberty Stadium), Ibadan is also being renovated.
that is a wise decision, I guess others will follow same. Our government lack capacity to maintain any facilities.

Why are they unusable? Don't those countries have football leagues which can be played in those stadiums?

It appears that the last election had a terrible impact on many people and they are no longer capable of reasoning. All that is in their head is PDP, APC, Labour Party and politicians. Nothing else.

That's sad.

Is it possible to add another deca at the top of this stadium without demolishing the present one?

Possible, but a very expensive venture, almost as expensive as knocking the existing one down and starting over.

Moreover multi-sport arenas such as we love to build in Nigeria have a limiting capacity due to spectator viewing distance issues. Adding another tier will worsen the spectator experience.

If we were more technologically oriented then capacity can be increased around the running track for on pitch sports such as soccer with the use of temporary stands.

By and large the design of the Surulere stadium is an old one and its compatriots the world over have long been pulled down and rebuilt/modernised.

Where is the Light na?
The stadium used to have 4 big massive light stands that can light up the whole surulere and Yaba.
They played one worldcup there, I think in 1996.
I was living in Yaba then, and they used the stadium light.
Our house in yaba was lighted from those stadium light in Surulere.
