Electricity simply means ENERGY!
The first industrial revolution was made possible with coal ENERGY
Do you even take a minute to think about the crap you are saying?
There is a reason ELECTRICITY is called POWER!
Bros are u saying your own thinking or facts ?

I dropped screenshot of industrial revolution and what lead to them

But nah you want to say your mind

Oga Nigeria don't lack electricity what we lack is commerical electricity

Access to electricity has been given to every Nigerian generate what you need

MrVitalis is correct with his analysis. Until Nigeria graduates from a vicious economy to a virtuous economy we will keep hearing the same stories. Whatever happened to the Siemens power arrangement? Any serious company can get Nigeria powered in 1 to 2 years at least but the buying power of Nigerians have been frittered away through different means
Thank God I have people like you

The problem has never been electricity the problem has been poverty

If Nigerians are rich enough we would have 24 hours electricity

In fact 90% of Nigerians that can afford 24 hrs electricity enjoy near 24 hours electricity in Nigeria its that simple

Nigerians are too poor

Wealth creation through SMEs like Peter Obi suggested is the key thing

This is the problem with the trader's line of thought. it is like the guy who controls 5 shops in Alaba versus the one who is sitting on the board of a conglomerate, they cant think same way, one is tactical, the other is strategic

Electricity generation is never efficiently done by individuals, it is always at a high cost and environmentally unfriendly ways, even when green technology is used, it will still be at the expense of ambience and ease-of-deployment.

Every sane country focuses on bulk generation (either by private or public enterprises ) while distributing to households.

SMEs wont thrive the way they should, if they have to focus on generating their own power, cos they will be frontloading a cost they are meant to pay gradually. While heavy manufacturers will even have to spend more, thus increasing their cost of production and ultimately cost of goods/services provided by them.

With upfront investments by government/private corporations towards boosting bulk generation, and efficient transmission to SMEs, plus stability and reliability, more SMEs will spring up and existing ones will thrive, while the investing entities recoup their funds and mak profit over time

But it is difficult to see this when wearing a trader-lens and believing society runs on individuals solving their problems and trying to be a master-of-your shop without thinking holistically about how society should function

Good analysis. The NPP project and most recently the Siemens power project that has failed, could you kindly tell the main issues that put this projects on hold that would greatly improved power supply in Nigeria

Bros no one would invest in our electricity unless we have a sizable amount willing and capable to pay it

Nigeria government is too poor to pay for it

Nigerian disco's are rejecting power as we speak they can't find enough people to constantly pay for 5000mw ...it's so bad they rely on government subsidy

Nah but you can't comprehend

Government should just give you electricity

Nigerians think upside down reall 95% of Nigerians can't afford 24 hours electricity per day... That's 5% are clustered on place that already have 24 hours power
Who sold such ideas to you Mr. Man

Corruption in every sector in Nigeria is the answer. Nigeria's Corruption is because the major ethnic groups in Nigeria don't believe in Nigeria.

1)
The Fulani has led the Hausa and Kanuri to adopt unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system in the 12 far northern Nigeria states; thus carved a quasi Islamic Republic for the sharia states but clutch tight to one Nigeria because of lucre in the south.

2)
The Yoruba is using agitation for a Oduduwa Republic for the SW region as stick and carrot instruments in Nigeria.

3)
The Igbos have been agitating for Biafra for ages.
Even this British High commissioner knows that a country like Nigeria of multi religious and cultural groups does not thrive.

pls shut up if you don't have anything tangible to say. So if Singapore had no electricity at all, they would have still developed according to your logic? What would then power the factories build by the European investors in Taiwan and Singapore during their development days? I guess Europe could have continued with coal since electricity is as expensive as you're making it seem. You probably don't even know the amount of money manufacturers spend on expensive fossil fuels in Nigeria. You are here defending the exhorbitant amount people on the island pay for constant electricity instead of demanding change from your corrupt government. Shame on you.

Before this fuel increase, many households spend more for fuel monthly than they spend for phcn...that shows that the market exist and the right investments will yield fruit....that is how investors think. If they can produce enough to take over what the generator and fuel budget currently does for households, then it is fair game

Industrial revolution happened in the late 1700s while commercial distribution of electricity started in the late 1800s

It was actually the industrial revolution that develop people made them right to be able to afford electricity and making it economically variable to distribute electricity profitably

Africans are always getting development wrong

They would spend less on fuel

They would be able to easily store preshible goods

Expansion and introduction of lots of SMEs( I know several Nigerian businesses around that either closed down due to lack of power or scaled down). These are businesses dat as far as I know never bypass or refuse to pay thier electricity bills. No matter how much u try to sugarcoat it, unless for very large industries or very unique factories, Powering thier businesses with fuel deeply eats into thier profits
