Nigerian Law School Places Five-Year Ban On Faculty Of Law At Datti Ahmed’s Baze University.

The imposition of the moratorium was sequel to the findings of the Council of Legal Education which showed that the university’s Law Faculty was currently having a backlog of over 347 law students waiting to be admitted into the Nigerian Law School.

“Baze University runs a three (3)-year LL.B programme for some UTME candidates without the approval of National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB and Council of Legal Education.”

The statement further noted that “Under the NUC Minimum Benchmark Academic Standard (BMAS) for law degree programme in Nigerian Universities, Law is a five (5)-year programme for UTME candidates and four (4)-year for Direct Entry students.

The Nigerian Law School has banned Baze University in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, from admitting students into its Law Faculty for consistently violating its admission quota of 50 students per session as approved by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

Baze University was founded by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi.

The Acting Secretary and Director of Administration of the Nigerian Law School, Ms Aderonke Osho, made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

Osho stated that “At its Quarterly Meeting held on November 23, 2023, the Council of Legal Education (CLE) presided over by its Chairman, Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN, OFR considered the report of the Accreditation panel to the Faculty of Law, Baze University, Abuja.
“It emerged from the findings by the Panel led by the Director-General, Nigerian Law School, Prof Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, that: Baze University consistently and most flagrantly had contravened its admission quota of 50 students per session as approved by the Council of Legal Education with the result that the Faculty is currently having a backlog of over 347 law students waiting to be admitted into the Nigerian Law School.

“Since 2017 the Council of Legal Education had grappled with the excesses of Baze University by admitting over 750 law students which ordinarily would have taken about 15 years of admission based on the quota allotted to the University.

“The Council of Legal Education after thorough consideration of these infractions resolved as follows: The imposition of a moratorium on admission of law students to the Faculty of Law, Baze University, Abuja, with immediate effect;

“The moratorium will last in the first instance for a period of 5 years and may be renewed if no satisfactory action is taken to remedy the situation.

“The Council in the interest of the innocent students, parents and guardians will use the 5 year period to find ways to deal with the backlog of law students admitted by Baze University in excess of its admission quota.

“Follow-up visits will be paid to the University to ascertain the extent of the measures it has taken to remedy the anomalies observed during the accreditation visit.

“The National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Parents, guardians, prospective applicants and members of the public are hereby put on notice on the status of Baze University Abuja and its faculty of Law.”

Datti the rogue again at it. This dude rigged his way into the senate until the appeal court sacked him and handed victory to the rightful person. Ordinary to maintain the the quota given to his school by law school, he greedily violate the quota severally thereby graduating innocent students who can’t admitted to law school.

Sadly, these are the fraudulent characters in Labour Party that go about claiming they want to change the country. These rogues just want to grab power by all crooked means for their selfish interest and nothing else. God will continue to expose them one after the other.

The punishment is well-deserved if the school is actually guilty of the stated offense.

But what I don't like is selective justice. More terrible things happen in other schools but the authority looks away because the owners of the schools are not in the opposition parties. Isn't JAMB aware of the system in the Base University? Didn't those who did Law for only 4 years in the school go to law schools? If it is not selective justice, let the law schools be punished for careless admission of those students.

Many universities that lack lab equipment and standard workshops get accreditation for science and engineering courses. Students in those schools do only theories in courses that are practical intensive. Some years ago, three people who claimed to be graduates of a public university in Enugu State were exposed in NYSC camps because they could not speak simple English. Two of them "graduated" in Engineering and one "graduated" in Geography. Their inability to speak simple English drew attention to them and further findings show that they were not even qualified to be rated as secondary school graduates. Among the three so-called graduates, one who graduated in Electrical Engineering and was sent to a nursery and primary school as his PPA was rejected by the school because he could not read and write. Another one could not mention three states and capitals in Nigeria, and she didn't pass English subjects in WAEC. So, how did JAMB give her admission? The NYSC authority directed for the certificates of those guys to be withdrawn. The case ended just like that. The school was not probed on how those three people were able to graduate and go for NYSC. Till this moment, the university has never been denied accreditation for Engineering and Geography as punishment. Use Google to check this if you think I am making things up. https://dailypost.ng/2012/10/15/nysc-rejects-illiterate-graduates-esut/
https://www.informationng.com/2012/10/questionable-degrees-nysc-rejects-three-illiterate-graduates-of-esut.html

I repeat, what is done to Base University now is justice if the school is actually guilty of the said offense, and I am sincerely not against justice. But would the justice have happened if Datti is not in LP? This is like the EFCC that never jails any friend of the government in power. This is the same country where a forged certificate is used to be a president and being a drug lord is not an offense for a president.

ADDED
I make it clear here that I am not against the punishment given to Base University. But fools who hate balanced judgement are making noise as if any part of my comment is against the ban on the university. If madness doesn't run in your lineages, show me where I said the ban is wrong. I even started by saying the ban is well-deserved.

You will see how ipob pig Obi supporters will come to his defense just because he is now politically partnering with their messiah. Very shortly when the stone and garri relationship of Obi and Datti expires, the lecherous-lipped pigs will come back and accuse him of producing half-baked lawyers in the North.

Very dumb! Did you read the story? Has he come out to deny it? See, it's better you shut up your mouth than to talk and disgrace your upbringing. Someone has been doing something wrong for so long and was previously warned but he persisted.

Do you know that there are many law graduates from his school that can't practice because of his singular act of greed? But you chose to spew rubbish. I thought you people were brandishing labour to be the one to take us forward. Why are you thinking backwards?

Point is that In Nigeria, law is 4-5 years.
