BreconHills:80 percent of Nigerians cannot afford the basics of life vide; housing, clothing and food, Nigerians live in shanties, they virtually feed from the bin, Nigeria is the dumping ground for used clothes. How else can someone define poverty 6 Likes 1 Share |

If almost everybody can afford the cost of Japa that doesn't come cheap.... I'm glad you use the words 'if' and 'almost' that means you're even certain of the numbers of people leaving and their financial conditions too. Last I check, statistics don't reveal everything, there are communities and inner cities in this wonderful country that poverty walks majestically around their corners and people there don't understand what it means to japa but the media will find a way of blowing things out of proportion just to drive their own narrative... 5 Likes 1 Share |

The Japa thing is more prevalent in the South where there are many middle level income households who ordinarily can afford decent life. If you go from Kaduna up to Zaria to Funtua up till Niger republic border in Katsina, you'll realize it's a different ball game in those areas. Northerners don't leave the country in droves like Southerners do, this is what I have observed over time here in the North. 4 Likes |

BreconHills: That may be true, but the sake of international comparisons, a standard of at least $2/day, which is about N2k/day or N60k/ month. Considering our min wage is still half that amount may provide some insight as to why our figures are so high. So truth is a lot of persons who may not consider themselves poor are actually so, going by international standards. But again looking at it critically, can 60k/month give one a decent life, considering the current realities?? 2 Likes |

Seriously I really like it as young Nigerians run away abroad. It gives me more opportunities to make money here in Nigeria. The population is just too much!! You won't believe how many companies have been head hunting me to work for them since last year.... There is less competition now in the corporate world as alot of experienced folks have left the country. This is a stark contrast to when I graduated in 2012, up until 2019 it was so difficult getting a job from top organisations due to alot of experienced professionals available. Now it's a different ball game because most of those guys have all left. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Villa12: It is getting close to that for me too, left to me I don't want to travel abroad. I like Nigeria die. The fear of not knowing what you will meet abroad self they worry me then. But I don't have to think about my own alone. I can manage anyhow, but the children na the priority. I don't need to stay Nigeria till when my children school will start sending reminder upon reminder for school fees even though am not paying house rent oo. I still feel all that Emiofiole policies. Cardoso too don start him own now. I just dey imagine if I still dey Nigeria how I go survive all this them policy. And u will think all their party member are enjoying not until last week one of them call me to come borrow him money. Shame even they him voice self. But I got to pity him tho. 1 Like |

We have been duped of our heritage by those we have trusted all along....the main reason for our rantings. If the mere good was sustained among major it's people, the country should be in the best 20 nations right now. |
