From the little I know, their history dates back post Biafra war after Igbos lost a lot of their businesses to the war. A group of influential Igbo men came together and formed the club with the aim of pulling financial resources to assist each other get back, they have not looked back since then.

They used to be a closed group with stringent membership requirements but I think they have relaxed a lot of those and are more open to membership. Most of the theories were pushed because they were closed in the past and those tales mostly exaggerated or false.

As far as I know, it is a legit Igbo socio-cultural group with influential personalities from all works of life. I have uncles/aunts who are active members including here in the States and their gatherings are usually LOUD! I will tell you, they have influential Igbo sons on their roster and do a lot back home.

You are right, they still have fragments here in Calabar who happen to meet at the golf club where I frequent. These men discuss serious issues and contribute a lot for each other's special occasions be it dedications, weddings or burials, all while parading some of the hottest lays Calabar has to offer grin grin

I was listening to Oliver D Coque's track about People's Club, and i heard him eulogise Austin Ilodibe.

That is absolutely false, people make assumption on what they don't know about.

Like every social group, or gathering, you are going to have people with questionable character but it had nothing to do with the club or a requirement to join the club. Like I said earlier, being closed with stringent membership requirement in their early years, particularly into the 90's made it easy for the tale to sell.

If you are talking about the late Chief IIodibe (Ekene Diri Chukwu Transport) then yes, he was quite the man. He was a giving, honest man with legit business. We lost a great Igbo son there. Keep resting Sir! Another Igbo son that isn't talked about much, mostly because of his personality is Dede Cosmas Maduka (Coscharis Group). If you or anyone ever gets a chance to meet or listen to him live, don't miss it.

Yeah. It is him

The fall of his empire started with the battle of his wives.

Omoh, maybe i am wrong, but i cannot see the advantage of having a polygamous home. Thumbs up to our Muslim brothers, but in the Eastern Nigeria, all the men i know with two wives always have issues.

Someone said the reason why we don't have generational business and wealth in Africa is because of Polygamy. When the main man is gone, the bitterness from the children will never allow them work together

The first set of children/wife will hate the 2nd set of children and wife. Once the main man dies, they now will use that to settle scores

Also when you know there is someone out there who might come for the business or lay claim to it many people no dey put body again

Plus wahala of dealing with plenty women, when you go get time expand your business sef. IMO its better to have side runs than to formally marry them

Just a few hours ago, I just heard a rumor that guy I know personally a top guy at one bank took a 2nd wife. Its a rumor I dont know if to Text him congratulations

izzou but when you consider the amount of single mature women don't you think Polygamy one way or another is inevitable
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 9:48pm On Dec 04, 2023
By the way Big congratulations to Alhaji GloriousGbola

Today, on the 2nd of December 2023, my beloved husband expanded our family by taking a second wife.

After two decades of marriage, I discovered that my husband had married my former student, a revelation that came to light just a week before the wedding. While this could have been shocking, I commend my husband for his openness.

It's noteworthy that my former student, now my husband's second wife, has found genuine love. As a mother, witnessing one's daughter marry a responsible man fulfills the dreams and prayers we hold close.

Understanding this as a mother aslo has granted me inner peace, and despite potential external criticism, I confidently shared my husband's wedding invitation on my social media platforms.

Given the considerable number of unmarried women today and the societal shifts we experience, I find it fitting to open our home and my husband's heart to another woman.

Through this message, I aim to advocate and encourage women to support their husbands who choose to marry more than once.

As far as Nigeria is concerned, they didn't even need to ban anything. Tinubu already did it for them when he floated the exchange rate.

Who still dey japa these days? Last year, it was resignation after resignation. Everyday you wake up, someome has japa'd.

Now, everybody don rest.
