.....to be sincere, no where in Nigeria comes close to that. Lagos is overrated, yet its still abroad to so many Nigerians.

Moment you enter Nigeria, you'll know you don enter wàhálà. LOL!

First Image - Dubai air space.
Second Image - Lagos air space.

I took both with same phone o. LOL!

There are levels to all these things.

Is Abuja fine? Yes, but e get where you go see, Abuja automatically becomes ugly.

I used to curse MM1, until the day I saw Akure airport, then I automatically saw the hidden beauty of MM1

The first problem with Nigeria is that it is dirty; Sand and dirt dey everywhere.

You would struggle to see a place this neat in Abuja; Even in the very high brow areas.

Very basic picture, but 99% impossible to find in Lagos

The European colonization of the Americas began in the late 15th century, although most colonies in what would later become the United States were settled after 1600.

LOL. That is not the USA. They were not one independent country and had different governments. They were ruled independently of one another.

The USA means the United States of America. You want to calculate the establishment of the USA from when whites first started settling in small villages there. So if the ask you when the USA came into existence you would say 16th century? 😂

If they ask you when Nigeria was formed what will you say? grin

It is because these men had principles, and maybe their eye never tear. There was accountability, and we were also not as divided as we are now.

Obasanjo built FESTAC and National theatre in just 3 years as a Military president. The same project today will cost a president more than 8 years with a very bloated budget.

If Awolowo was alive today, he may most likely be tempted to steal, than even do anything.

grin

.....why Baba Awo will be tempted when one of his Disciples ain't tempted when he ruled Lagos? I mean Baba Jakande.

....is OasisX wrong?!

Very wrong. Was Nigeria formed when Europeans started coming over to trade in the 16th and 17th centuries?

Whites living in distant villages and settlements in North America is not the same thing as the establishment of the USA.

In that 16th century, the Netherlands controlled New York, Spain controlled Florida. France controlled Louisiana, the British controlled only the Eastern Seaboard and each British colony had its own government. That wasn’t the USA.

Developments started in Iraq even longer. When Baghdad was the most beautiful city in the world New York was marshland with a few naked tribes beheading one another.

How is Iraq faring now?

It is not an excuse. How long matters only after considering how well, and how well depends on uniformity of purpose. As long as we have ethnic and religious divisions, and rampant corruption, come back in 200 years and we will still be struggling (if the country miraculously exists by then).

....and do you think we have hope with current system of government?! I strongly believe only way to end ethnic and religious divisions is to go back to regional government but unlike in the 60s that we had 3 Regions only.

I propose the country is balkanized into 6 and let each region control its resources. North East, North West, Middle-Belt, Eastern, Western and Niger Delta Regions respectively; and watchout for rapid developments within 100yrs in some Regions not all.

When you balkanize the country what will happen when each regional leader starts “balkanising” the public funds amongst his family members and cronies?

Or an Oyo-born regional leader is performing poorly but his Oyo people keep supporting him because they don’t want an Ondo-born person to take over?

The problem is the mentality of the people and their leaders NOT the centralisation of power. There is no accountability or consequence for misrule or corruption.

I have a suggestion but I am not sure Nigerians will agree with me. It is quite radical. If you hear it you will shout “mad o”, but medicine has taught me that desperate times call for desperate measures.

1) All previous political office holders banned for life from further participation in politics. All previous Presidents, VPs, Senate Presidents, Speakers, Governors and Deputy-Governors to receive default life sentences in jail. All other office holders up to ward councillor level to receive default jail terms ranging from 5-50 years depending on how egregious their crimes are. The innocent ones are to be assumed to be guilty by association and to receive a minimum 5-year term.

2) Intra-tribal and intra-religious marriage banned for 5 generations. Punishable by life jail terms for the whole family (including house helps and gatemen).

3) Finally, Abrahamic and African traditional religions will be banned. Flouting this rule will lead to life jail terms for the whole family. Instead, a Cult of Reason will be established, in which the Goddess of Reason will be worshipped. The religious text will be known as the Book of Logic and Common Sense.

These 3 steps are pre-constitutional and sacrosanct. After they have been agreed upon the people will now have a constitutional conference to determine the fine details of the constitution.
