Gunmen Attack Daewoo Convoy In Rivers, Abduct Two Korean Expatriates, Kill 4 Nigerian Soldiers, 2 Drivers December 12, 2023 News Gunmen on Tuesday morning attacked a convoy of Daewoo workers along the East-West Road in Rivers State, killing four soldiers and two drivers. It was gathered that the incident, which occurred at around 9.30 am, caused pandemonium along the East-West Road. The gunmen also kidnapped two Korean expatriates in the convoy. A security source, who confirmed the attack, said the suspected kidnappers ambushed a team of expatriates being escorted by troops of the 5 Battalion along Ahoada-Obua in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The source said, "During the attack, the assailants opened fire on the convoy killing four soldiers and two civilian drivers and subsequently abducted two Koreans in the process." "Details are still sketchy but efforts are ongoing to get more details from the units. Further details will be forwarded as soon as possible," the source added. And some people were wondering why Dangote refused to site his refinery in that region. Especially seeing he has so many expatriates working there. These foreign expats are usually the targets of kidnappers in the south-south region, especially Port-Harcourt. RIP to the soldiers and the civilian drivers.
