GMBOFASIA: He was cancelled out easily and resorted to aimless fouls. No good link-up play, no chance created, no attempt at goal. In ninety minutes plus. Not even one. |

TheSuperNerd: Kessie's red card. I see why Pesiero got frustrated earlier and got carded for it. He knew they were sabotaging his plans. He wanted to score and have such decisive moment for his team. But his outburst was rather too early, he would have played that card when Zaidu was down. Got carded. Delayed the match and force the VAR team to look at it. 1 Like |

Mujtahida:I dont think we had any Ivorien on this thread. I wouldn't know what they said or didn't say, my point was that the bandwagonism and lack of depth to proper analysis by champions of this thread was baffling. A little point I raised about the SA striker having a field day was met with stoic push back, even with video evidence. The insatiable point everyone wanted to hear was how we will wipe the floor with Ivory coast. People were just farming likes without any form of substance or analysis. |

Onyeka was the Spine of our midfield at this tournament. And remember, even I didn't rate Onyeka enough to start in my first 11 for a 433. But Onyeka shone in this 343 and won my heart. Iwobi's best match came vs Equatorial Guinea in a 433. He was out of his depths in this 343. He was covered up for plenty times. forgiveness: 2 Likes 1 Share |

My verdict, we have done well, we have exceeded the expectations we had going to the tournament, no one gave that squad a chance to get to the final, the problems we had in the final today was a problem that was obvious for over 6 months or even our world cup qualification. We had a patched midfield that did well getting to the finals but was badly exposed today. No point feeling bad , I can only praise them. Now my reaction to this, enough of huge ego of we have too many talents and any player that doesn't want to play for us should not come, it's time to build our TEAM, qualifying for semi finals and Finals in Afcon and loosing should not continue to be a habit, it was obvious we needed ball carriers and runners to help Onyeka's hardwork in that midfield but lacked it soon much. Now we need to go find them. We need 2 technical teams from the nff that should go round and convince players to play for Nigeria, we have to many diaspora talents that we can't just relax and say we can't beg them infact from the English league, Italian league, German league we can build a squad from them, while watching that final today I could just imagine having a runner like Ogbene of Luton town and a ball carrier like Eze along with Onyeka we would counter that ivory coast team like demons. We gave our attackers especially Osihmen little chance., It's time to go and reach out and convince the diaspora talents more The second technical team should focus on the local league and African league and find talents there too. We should not be patching up a squad with few weeks/ months to the to tournament, there is another Afcon next year we have work to do. Thanks very much. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Goke7: Did we not win AFCON in 2013 with a team that was not quite exceptional? Do you think it is Super Teams that win tournaments? It was Haller that stood out for CIV, but it is not because the entire team was exceptional. They too has weak links, so, like I said, you will always have a weak link. If you like tweak and tweak, you will always have a weak link. 1 Like |

safarigirl: Wait a minute. Did you just ask how Super Eagles' winning or losing affects my life? Did you even process that in your head before typing it? Did you not read of the people who literally died watching SE vs SA? Do you know the level of emotional investment that I have in the SE? Do you know the distance I trekked this night risking my life and safety just to watch this match? Do you know the kind of trolling I am going to chop from bad belle Africans? So I did wrong by suggesting improvements to a team that 200 million Nigerians, including myself love so much? Wallahi, Safari, you fall my hand. 1 Like |

Curtisaxel17:osimhen was below par in the afcon agreed but has achieved more than ighalo in the team so far. He has 21 goals and an afcon silver medal; did your ighalo reach those heights? His campaign was below expectation but he pulled his weight. 3 cancelled goals 2 penalties won and 1 assist. Ighalo is in the set of martins. Osimhen is above that set. 1 Like 1 Share |

Odunayaw: The talk is so stupid. "We must keep searching...." If say things work out for outfield, Nwakali for win GK of the tournament. Even Enyeama did not keep up to 4 cleansheets for us in any tournament, yet, somebody has the temerity to chat rubbish about wanting more from a goalkeeper. Make he thank God say he no near me talk that nonsense, I just dey restrain myself from really giving him one or two words over that statement. This entire thread of wailers dey irritate my soul. Nothing dey pain me pass to come thread after a team loss and see people slating players anyhow. People wey never play high stakes football like that for their lives 2 Likes 2 Shares |

In the group stages, he shone in the first match in a 433 majorly. In the second game, he was slightly above average vs CIV in a 343. Vs Guinea Bissau in the third game, he was just there off the bench in a 343. He was truly out of his depths in a 343. More subdued in a 343 than he was in a 433. The knockouts only proved it further and strongly deeper. forgiveness: 1 Like |

Today we didn't deserve to win. The referee was incompetent, but I don't think he decided the game. Not much to analyse here, CIV dominated every facet of the game. Our outlet long balls to Osimhen was frustrated by the referee. Aina wasn't great but one on one against a relatively fresh Simon Adingra for 90mins is not an easy gig, he will definitely be successful with a couple of deliveries. Ekong has matured into a proper leader. We have missed this for some time now. Musa can now be thanked for his services through the years. We will be back. 2 Likes |
