santaclaws:When we talk of sea port in the south east we talk of a port in a geographical region, not a political region. Why are the ports in Delta and PH not working? The man is not talking of political region, Akwa Ibom is more of south east than Anambra. This is the same reason some of you think that Mary Slasure stopped the killing of twins in Igbo land. Africans should wake up o, the world is being restructured |

AnyanwuSilas: Onne port (Rivers) state was named the fastest-growing seaport in Nigeria in 2022, stop writing what you don't know! The 2 regions in Nigeria (SW, SS) that have coastlines (sea/ocean) have ports working at different capacities. The FG doesn't create oceans or seas, they can only build on what's available. All the ports in Nigeria are in the Southern part of the country. Northerners are supposed to be the ones complaining but somehow they have common sense to know that they can't have a seaport since God didn't create an ocean in the North. It's only the "educated southerners" that like to argue over silly, impossible things! |

santaclaws:The port in the south eastern Nigeria is not working based on FG policies, You're an ignoramus, only a fool will be talking of political regions when we are talking of geographical regions. To you everything is politics. If you're not a hypocrite then why do you say North? Why not North West, North East or North Central. |

Alaska90:Shut up ya mouth if you don't know anything. The federal government thru noa and NNPC have ports in Lagos, port Harcourt,Calabar, warri before those privately owned ports all over Lagos and the deltas. So which port belongs to the federal government in the east to open up the place?! |
Re: Santiago Stocker Makes Case For Seaport & Infrastructures In South East by PHAYOL81: 9:44pm On Feb 26 |
SmartyPants: YOU honestly don't have to give this long sermon for them. If they believe they need seaport, let them invest in it. Nigeria didn't build Apapa for Lagos. They inherited and expanded it, owing to its unarguable viability. And when LAGOS GOVERNMENT felt like they needed another, they looked for investors to partner for its realization. Lekki seaport got approval same way the proposed IBAKA/IBOM got approval from the BUHARI led FG, but while LAGOS went ahead to make it happen, the AKWA IBOM government instead was merely playing around, building a mega church project that has little economic benefit for the state (waiting on either FG or imaginary investors that they hardly sought for). If any SE government believe in the viability of the port project, they can seek approval for it and start. It's that simple. Greenback: THE guy you quoted was right. All the ports you mentioned were inherited by FG from the colonial era, not built by FG. When the serious state wanted another, they sought approval and investors to get it done. A mere DANGOTE too has a mini seaport in LEKKI to facilitate his refinery logistics services easily. If Dangote can do it, what stops a state governor from doing same if the state believes they need one like DANGOTE? You've heard of LEKKI DEEP SEAPORT too, it's an investment of LASG under PPP in hope to improve the IGR. If SOUTH EAST governors believe in ports, seek investors too or borrow loan to do it. Or must FG go out of their way to build yours? Greenback: Fisrt of, you ain't seaman else you'd have seen years of establishment of some facilities at the seaport. Tell me, which other Apapa port was the LAGOS colony using to transport palm oil, groundnut, timber, cocoa, rubber, et all before amalgamation? What year was Apapa port established and which FG government established it? Secondly you're IGBO. DON'T sweat it, you are. A yoruba man knows APAPA predated NIGERIA and NNPC. And an ignorant YORUBA guy would rather not try hard to debunk information he has no knowledge about, especially against his tribe. He would rather go ahead to research if the information is true if he's adamant not to be bias. Besides, your stance perfectly reflected the IGBOs as handed down to them by their begrudging forefathers and then, parents. FG inherited Lagos air and seaport. LAGOS AIRPORT too was before NIGERIA, no FAAN, no NNPC, no NPA when they all started. Like telecommunication, power generation facilities, television transmission network that were acquired and expanded by NITEL, NEPA, and NTA respectively when NIGERIA acquired LAGOS, same way FAAN and NPA got the ports too. Nigeria merely changed and expanded them till some of them interconnect to newly built facilities nationwide. |

PHAYOL81:Was there NNPC when the colonialists were still around? All federal government ports in Lagos and the deltas are established and operated by the NNPC. There's one run by npa in Calabar. These weren't in existence or operation in the colonial era. They belong to the federal government. I know all these cos I'm a seaman and I sail these places and don't ever assume that everyone else is Igbo cos I am not. |
