Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:43am On Apr 11 |
Amigoss: It's just the same way their are some words in ur local language u don't know but a non-native speaker who studied the language knows . For example if u ask a random Yoruba person what is "ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rin", he or she may not know but someone who as a non-native speaker that learnt Yoruba may casually tell u it is 700. I know a man in his late 70's whose both parents are from Cross river state, but he was born and bred in Lagos. This man can read Yoruba bible without having any difficulty pronouncing any word. He even corrects his age mate whom are native Yoruba speakers when they read and don't get the Yoruba pronunciations right |

Theflint1: Most of the footballer's on the show didn't attend conventional schools. They mostly attended academies where they are more interested in learning football than listening when a language instructor is telling them the meaning of INCULCATE. I gave an example of a Yoruba word that most average Yoruba person didn't really know despite studying Yoruba to WAEC level. It's not like a Yoruba person hasn't heard the word before, he just doesn't really care about the word and what it means. 3 Likes |

BlueRayDick: I don't even blame Richards and Carragher. Na Kate Abdo who is meant to be the broadcast journalist that should hide her face. It means that apart from being Henry's work wife she no add any value to that set up. 3 Likes |

What's this talk about the Actors Guild of Nigeria cancelling the producer of the movie the Pope guy went for before the unfortunate incident? How is cancelling her and barring other actors from working with her going to change anything? The video made before the unfortunate incident showed everyone in that video was glad to risk their lives nit wearing life jacket. They were all grinning and smiling making videos without having life jacket on. I don't think the producer could've forced the life jacket on them. I don't understand why they are making the producer of the movie a scapegoat. It's more like the people are angry and looking for who to transfer aggression to |

afrodoc2: Exactly. Na Late fall hand pass ; how can she not have used the word before if she reads and write the language having gone to conventional school? |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 11:10am On Apr 11 |
BlueRayDick: To be fair, she is responsible for their safety on set and therefore she should have provided life jacket An eyewitness is reporting it was a crash between two boats so lifejacket may not have saved some individuals anyway. Death could be a result of impact injuries |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 11:25am On Apr 11 |
How do people enter boats without a jacket sef?. I thank God for Lagos sha. Even with how shabby the boats are, it is mandatory to wear a life jacket. |

Consequences of not burying the person who died in the river close to the river,E be like dem wan twist the tradition for a celeb... |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 11:28am On Apr 11 |
BlueRayDick: She is responsible for their safety and should have provided life jackets. If the movie producer insists on them wearing life jackets, most of them will comply. Junior Pope, who appeared scared to the max about drowning in one of the circulating clips, would surely have made use of a life jacket if he had the option. It is a recurring them in Nigeria, whereby people who should ensure the safety of their workers do not uphold their end of the bargain. That leads to electrical workers suffering electrocutions, and construction workers suffering falls, etc. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 12:04pm On Apr 11 |
Amigoss: This is common means of transport in our sides. These children probably enter boats regular like this, but if a school proprietor puts them on boat without lifejacket, liability is on her if shït goes left This boat is fairly safe though, compared to flying boat that Junior Pope entered. Flying boat is like jetta, any small thing, it could overturn |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by enigma0: 12:10pm On Apr 11 |
BlueRayDick:An average yoruba person who study up to waec level wiltl definitely know what "eedegberin" is except the person is a dullard cos 'onka yoruba' is taught from elementary level to secondary level. Most people now don't know/care the meaning of some words nowadays cos core yoruba is spoken only in some places in osun, ogun, oyo etc as speaking english is what importance is placed on. Words like "ifaara, isipo, gbena-gbena," etc may sound alien to most average people tho cos there are some words I've heard that sound foreign to me |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 12:16pm On Apr 11 |
izzou: Last time I used a ferry there, I checked the speed the ferry moved at and it was 110 to 120km/h. Such speed with that rickety boat, my confidence was very low. I was the last person to come on board and my life jacket was the shabbiest; they had given me a rag. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ellexy: 12:36pm On Apr 11 |
So apparently the make up artist and the sound guy on the same boat are still missing in the river and their bodies yet to be found. Nawa oo. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 12:39pm On Apr 11 |
swiz123: Check your speedometer again. This is lamba or your fear speaking Ferry top speed is 20 to 60km/HR (high speed ferry) and the most advanced and fastest ferry in the world has a top speed of 58 knots which is 107 km/hr 4 Likes |

swiz123: 110km is much oh. Are you sure? You can actually ask for them to change the jacket if it is shabby. |

iamoyindamola:My kids school had their excursion to point of no return in Badagry last week, i was really worried ooh until i was told a bridge has been constructed accross the river. I have taken some daring boat journeys from CMS or borni Camp to Takwa Bay Beach without life jacket, God has really been saving me.... |

TrebleChamp:You mean bridge from badagry port to point of no return If this is true they try but i doubt because it's ocean water oo unless the water is just at the entrance and not across it will collapse |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 1:15pm On Apr 11 |
Ibime: The speedometer app on my phone is 98% accurate on measuring vehicle speed. I assume it will be the same for a ferry. You can check the Ikorodu ferry terminal that ply Lekki, VI and Ajah routes. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by swiz123(m): 1:17pm On Apr 11 |
izzou: The speedometer app on my phone is always accurate. Though it was my first time of trying it out on a ferry. I am talking about the Ikorodu ferry boat, not this type that Pope used. |
